As you said: quality is close enough. Difference is visible a specialy in file and knife sharpening quality, mainly because steel used for file and knife in favore of Latherman. Bad quality wire cutters becomes legendary in Lathermann"s case.

This is a fun little knife. A bit sad to see they're leaving QSP for Kizer since I thought QSP did an awesome job with it! It's just such an assuming little knife.

What's the part by the hinge? It moves back and forth and prevents it from closing when it's closer to the wick but what's it's true function?

Its a spring lever to give the lid an assisted opening action, & kinda "locks" the lid closed. Like a spring in a slipjoint knife

Where they lower cost is no epa no osha or regulations and possibly either child or slave labor in china.. thats part of the cost savings.. don't get me wrong i buy stuff at harbor freight.. i bought a 225 piece tool set..i believe made in taiwan i figured most everyday mechanic tool set are made offshore..

You really did a very good review. While i agree with many of your points. I personally really like my Bibury it was $29. I only wish i bought the one when it was $35 that has the replacement saw and diamond file. I really like the full sized bits. My problem with leatherman was their bits were to soft for my line of work. I used leatherman for years i stopped because their price didn't match their quality or usefulness. I also believe Bibury uses 7cr17 which is a upgrade over 420hc.

I prefer flat bits. You can't fit the amount of bits in a small enough package to carry in a slim leather holster such as mine. If I want quarter inch bits I'll go to my tool bag.

Whilst it seems a great clone, I personally feel they have shot themselves in the foot opting to go with the flat driver bits. For me, that is a total deal breaker, particularly when you look at all of the other wave clones using standard bits. The Bibury, Roxon and Flissa options seem much better in my opinion. Great review tho!

I admire swiss engineering but prefer the strength of the Leatherman Surge. I honestly don't see my Surge breaking for the next 50 years but if it does I'm very tempted to try the Bibury at that price point. Thanks for sharing your review!

I recently found the CHUMS wallet in the sporting goods section at Walmart. I bought two: one for work and one for personal use. For work, I need to carry my ID and certificates indicating my responsibilities. For my personal everyday carry (EDC), the wallet has a section for coins, and the key pocket is perfect for attaching my AirTag.

I went to the local hardware store to buy the XS but holding the 100 mm and 125 mm versions side by side instantly turned me toward the larger model. People have varying needs for edc tool sizes. The 125 mm / 5” model has been small enough for me to carry every day and barely notice it.

I on't presently own any barlows. However, if my email notifications are to be believed, I may or may not have one coming in the mail... I am a fan of this "modern traditional" trend - classic designs with modern materials and manufacturing techniques. Let these designs shine the brightest they can.

I've never given my carbon steel Opinel No. 9 much TLC, a very thin layer of vegetable oil from time to time, and it still works as great as it did when I purchased it. Sharpening is the easiest thing in the world and those Opinels get razor sharp.

Each knife has their uses, and traditional pocket knives be them slip joints or liner locks, button locks or crossbar locks, are better in general for just about everything
