Nope, that is not how we danced in the 80s at the clubs. My first club in the 80s i went to was Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, and KROQ DJ Richard Blade was there on Friday nights, so much fun, great memories, too bad no cellphones to take club photos.☹️

Pretty accurate, but these are 80s video and performance choreo. No one actually danced like this on the dance floor unless they were mimicking the video or performance.

80s dance moves particularly for women was to swing your arms, step and half-turn to the left then to the right and keep repeating. Bend the knee with long swoops with the arms in each direction, in time to the music.

These ladies are doing fine but they look different because they have to watch two dimensional images on the internet to learn them. You folks that lived this learned them in 3D in person "johnny on the spot" if you will and you had instant peer feedback if you got steps wrong so you could adjust right then. These girls will get feedback for years to come, most of you saying "that aint how we did it". Maybe try offering pointers on "how you did do it" or slowly watch your dances die with your generation. Kudos to the people trying to keep these "dances" alive as much as they can.

Regardless of how people did these dances back then, I think these guys did a fantastic job representing moves from that age. I especially loved "the mashed potato." I have to add: no wonder all the people I know from that era are having knee and hip replacements. Hahahaha! 😅😂😊

The thing I love about the 60's dance moves is they actually had matching names to go with the moves. Technically, I guess the moves came FROM the songs... not the other way around. But still....

Did "the robot" actually start in the 70's? That was used a lot in the 80's, too...at least from what I observed. It was a good combo with break dancing.

These are great steps but impossible to learn even when slowing the video down. But it's a good reference to find tutorials. Thanks.
