That village Bobby is a real West Country native. His accent sounds like Poison Pearce from London's Burning. Not much good at gaining the trust of the community he polices, though.

Poor Peggy. She went from being let down by David to marrying a man who seems to control her. She's like a scared little bunny rabbit.

Did someone forget to overlay the end credits cast list over the wobbly shot of the photographs? I wonder if this copy is from before the titles were added.

Rural Lancashire I'm assuming. The man playing the farmhand with the rhotic Hereford accent was great. The entire episode had a very moody and introspective feel. It was also time for Quilley to experience a different world.

Two more episodes left, what will I do when this series is over?!? Well, we are also watching Corrie from the 70s (1973) so that should tide us over!

What a show! I can’t wait for the next one… now that you have 1k subs, perhaps you can livestream some of these shows and accept “superchats” so we can donate money. I would be happy to donate, let me know where I can do that, if possible.

Interesting to see how TV portrayed gay couples in those days. The older one was shown as neurotic and nervy in his interactions with the police, whereas his younger partner showed a lot more self assurance and flippancy, 'Get your friend to get his little notebook out'. What a terrible made up name the latter had though; John Johnson I ask you.

Fiona Lewis to me looks more towards 1982, a bit ahead of the times. Though some of the Christmas decorations knock it straight back to the seventies 😅 Thanks again for posting, a favourite "new" TV show for me.

Yes , it certainly will have got everyone in the Christmas spirit back in 1970.🤣

Superb episode with some of the best actors. Derek Newark was always a favourite of mine. I'm puzzled why this is black and white, and also it looks like the taped scenes were done with the old 450 line cameras.

These repeat uploads of Softly Softly & Z Cars are really superb, when this episode was originally shown, I was 14 & not at at all interested, it was for Mum's & Dad's, but now I am of a certain age I can really appreciate the story lines, the acting & the actors themselves, a lot of which went on to greater things, so thank you for uploading, it's kind of made me also reflect on my parents who are no longer here😁👍

Really enjoying watching this. No over-production, constant loud music, swearing and violence for the sake of it. Great actors too. I don't remember it first time around, I'm of the age knowing Norman Bowler from Emmerdale in the nineties (when it was still worth watching!)
