The great irony of the Dwarf in the Flask is that he commits terrible atrocities to "free" himself of his tether to the Void... unaware that his ignorance is exactly what gave him freedom in the first place. From the very beginning, he has been digging his own grave, thinking he was looking for buried treasure. He never wanted to learn, really. He just wanted to know, without learning.
Something that sticks with me is that Truth never rejects Homunculus's desires. "I wanted to become the perfect being! I wanted to know everything in the world! What is wrong with wanting that?! What is wrong with desiring that?! What is wrong with wishing for that?!" And Truth's response? Nothing. He just keeps smiling because the truth is that absolutely nothing is wrong with that, and there's nothing inherently wrong with pursuing those wishes and desires either, as the longing for betterment and ultimate perfection is inherently innocent. However, Truth exists to admonish failure and hubris that causes people to stray from the path and fail to achieve their ambitions; he is a wake-up call to reality, that you have made a mistake and failed on some level, otherwise you wouldn't be there before him. Truth does not exist to punish evil or cruelty. He exists to say even if you did everything right, you still failed and you have to accept that reality and try to understand the reason why and how you've failed. That is why he's called 'Truth'. The answers to Homunculus's questions are simple. _'Nothing is wrong with desiring something, but I am Truth. You have failed to achieve your desires because you did not succeed, and the reasons why and how you failed are many and nuanced. You know what you could have done differently, but that is irrelevant now because you cannot change the past or undo your mistakes. This is cold, cruel reality, and you must accept that because that is Truth, the thing that ends boastful arrogance and hubris.'_

It is scary to think that part of the meassage relates so much to me, and may be to some another. I've gone through life, somehow, in a similar way than the dwarf. Aiming to achive external things (such as qualifications), aiming to improve in different ways (academically, phisically), in a way that does not seem healthy to me, in order to reach some sort of illusory higher self.

I like how he doesn't refer to himself as simply a god. But everyone and everything in existence. All knowing, all seeing, and present in the past, present and future. Most call it God. Bc we don't have a simpler term to describe a being such as this.
Also, I can’t help but blame Hohenheim for all of this madness by 4%. And NOT for the reason that Hohenheim blames himself for (I.e. trusting the homunculus) When the Homunculus is created Hohenheim is a nameless slave in his young teens. The Homunculus immediately knows this is a violation of Hohenheim’s human rights and encourages him to educate himself so that he may be free one day. The next conversation the 2 have, they discuss what they want out of life. Then Hohenheim is a man in his 40s. How?! How did the 2 only have 2 meaningful and extremely short conversations??! The way that the second meaningful conversation was written was wasted potential. Hohenheim states that he’s grateful to the Homunculus, and when the Homunculus states, “I think I would be happy if I could just leave this flask”, and then it cuts away as if Hohenheim would just ignore his friend’s wish. Hohenheim should have said, “I’m an alchemist now. Is there a way to make you an empty human shell?” Something! This makes the Homunculus look 100% alone in the world. He had no choice but to take advantage of the King’s selfishness and greed.

This story is based on Kabbalah stuff though. If you watch the next thing in which Edward (the MC) has a conversation with the white one. You see that the gate behind him which represents Alchemy and knowledge" is inversed. It looks like the "tree of knowledge" and how it is represented in that belief-system. An inverse tree. Edward then to bring back his brother sacrifices the tree of knowledge and the white one told him : "You beat me the other gate is there". There he finds his brother and they walk the other other gate which is an upward tree representing the "tree of life".

I do feel sympathy for the Dwarf. I certainly couldn’t be content living in a small flask. And it was the King of Xerxes who wanted immortality. I don’t blame the Dwarf for Xerxes. I do blame him for everything after.
I love how the Dwarf's gate is blank; as in pursuit of godhood he slaughtered millions, existed for millennia, held a sun in his hand, and lost everything all while learning nothing.
I had heard theory that truth is only an avatar of ,,God” -eye in door, which he use to communicate on understandable level to person.

One of the best things of a story is that the author knows how to actually execute perfectly of how a villain meets its end. And yes JJBA author Araki Hirohiko knows how to execute his villains every single time.

You need to struggle first or struggle for you and for others ( Red Brown Black )and see your achievements (White ). I think FULMETAL ALCHEMiST is not truly accurate it is a business. Why because everything he want is paid for and the payment he demands is huge but he doesn't do anything he just uses his brain to make money. Obviously other things have side effects and vice versa.

今まで気にしてなかったけど、『真理の力を求めて、多くの人々を利用してきたにもかかわらず、命の尊さや不完全な人間だからこそ良い所も悪い所もある事を学ばず、ただ『神』の力だけに固執して結局何も得られずに破滅したお父様』に対して、『自分たち兄弟の肉体を取り戻す旅の中で多くの仲間たちとの交流を通じて、賢者の石や他人の力や命を頼らず最終的に自らの真理の扉すなわち錬金術を捨てたことでアルを取り戻したエド』とは対照的に描かれている事に気付いてエモく感じた
最初に切り捨てた誇りに容姿が戻り、最後に切り離した強欲を語っている。 何も捨てるべきじゃなかったんだよこいつは。自分を受け入れてホーエンハイムや国王と肩を並べて歩むべきだった。 そうすればきっと神に成れなくても人になれた。結局小人のままだったが。
