What are considered as work experiences and what are considered as leadership experience? What is the boundary between the two? Thanks in advance!
@lindaabraham1093 Жыл бұрын
They don' have to have a boundary. They can and frequently do overlap. For example you can start out working as an auditor and programmer and become a team lead. Let's say you become a team lead after working for 2 years and then work for another two years in that position. You will have 4 years of work experience and two years of leadership experience. You can also have work experience and leadership experience in a different area of your life like a community service activity, sports, a professional society, or the arts. In that case you may have work experience at work and you may not, but you will have leadership experience off the job. Work experience is something you get paid to do. Leadership implies that you motivated or managed others. To paraphrase Dwight Eisenhower, 'Leadership is the art of getting others to do what you want them to do because they want to do it."

Decision day is tomorrow. Admitted or not, I must say it's been a great experience learning about Tuck. The admissions committee are just nice people and always willing to help. For some HBS or Wharton might be the best. For me, those schools comes after Tuck. It would be an honor to call myself a Tuckie.

Remember that for better or for worse, when you apply to a program your percentile attainment is being compared to others from your race and socioeconomic background. Doesn’t matter if you are applying to undergrad or to medical school, law school, etc. Your scores may be better or worse than you realize.

I am enthralled by the idea of a second-year MBA student mentoring a first-year group. There is so much to take in that precious first year that someone with more experience, both academically and perhaps professionally, can provide amazing insight and advice. On a not-so-related note, Fuqua ranks #15 by Bloomberg this year, but received a poor score for its (academic) learning component. Would any current students or graduates say that the classes were less rigorous than they could've been?

I love your channel Linda and I really enjoyed this weeks episode. I've been subscribed to your channel for a while and it helped me get into my dream grad school so thank you for posting great interviews. even though I am not a med student I still enjoyed listening to this interview. I definitely agree with Efrat on parenting and being in Grad school is not easy at all. I am in my 2nd semester in OT school and have 2 kids and would also say that without a good support system theres no way you can do it on your own. this interview gave me chizuk in my grad school journey. Thank you Efrat for the wonderful advice :)
