I was stationed at Gibbs Kaserne (1968-69) as a member of Co. C. 308th S & S BN. Our motor pool (2 1/2 ton truck Co.) was adjacent to the rear entrance of the Gibbs Housing Area. Our afternoon formation often was conducted as the high school students would walk through the Kaserne to reach their housing area. Often during the time I was stationed there during an afternoon formation, the PLT SGT reminded his platoon ......."10 will get you 20." He explained - 10 minutes "of pleasure" with any of the dependent girls would get you 20 years at Manheim, the Army stockade for Germany.
Nice footage Otis I attended in 1987 cool to see it live on
We stayed here- in these exact barracks back in 1983- 1986. Edit: I literally used to run directly across this field freely running wildly!! It was BEAUTIFUL! We stayed on the von Steuben side. We did not have balconies/patios at the time and we used to lock ourselves outside our apartments because when the doors closed, they automatically locked. I also remember the basement!
No from Frisian ❤😂
And from France 🎉
Omg . I'm glad I found this. I was in Frankfurt at the same time.. Vonstauben road runners vs Hugel Huskies weekend football games.. wire tunnel with stickers going to elementary school.. Playing baseball etc . Lay out is still the same . Wow .
I was stationed at Pioneer in 1966-1967... 662 HMS Company, 14th S&S Battalion.

Radiologist in FARMC or 97th General Hospital 1983-1994. Lived in Atterbury until building our home. Hanks for showing all those buildings that were part of our lives!
Stationed in Frankfurt 1964-66. Used to go to RM because it had handball courts. Would go to Wiesbaden AFB because it had a really nice Post Exchange.
I was in Frankfurt from August 1992 until they started closing it down in 1994. My memories are a bit hazy and I appreciate your videos. Frankfurt was a great place to live, work, and serve.
In the late 50s when serving in the army in Germany, Elvis Presley visited the son of a fellow soldier who was stricken with polio. This event was covered and widely publicized. Less known is the fact that it took place at Platenstrasse housing!
The gate of Edwards Kaserne was the site for a scene in the Elvis movie "GI Blues" in 1960
I went to Frankfurt Elementary 1982-1985. These memories are my most precious of my childhood. It was a beautiful experience. The school was so progressive. Thank you for doing these videos!!
Thanks for that. We lived there when I was in the 2nd grade til the 6th grade we got there in 1988 and left in 1992. I have some good memories from there. I remember riding my bike over that bridge into the woods and just explore. And the party's my parents use to throw. Good memories of me and my sister. It kinda sucks to see most of it gone but good to see all the additional housing the space it has. I remember the building being so spread apart. I've never seen another apartment complex like it. But then again it wasn't so much of a complex. More of than of military housing. Thanks
Lived on the 3rd floor '81-83...378th PSC...
I used to work at Mr. Video from 1988 (apprx.) To 1992. Thank you so much for letting me see that building again and getting to relive some if those memories°°
The decision to downsize US Forces in Germany starting in 1989 was ill advised and premature.
There was no need for the US there anymore.
Yes, the ethnic English are connected to ethnic Germans through language, genes etc. 🏴🇩🇪
I was at Kennedy Kaserne in 1983-84
Wow. brings back many memories
I loved your message at the beginning of the video. So many people fell for the Covid scam. There should be repercussions for what they put us through. Now they are pulling the vax off the markets... my wife and I knew better than to take the poison. Anyway. I was on Fliegerhorst from 1989 to 1991. Just visited in 2022. Barely recognized some of it. Same with Pioneer and Wolfgang. Time sure flies, but change never stops.
Yes ,have you noticed how many old gas stations and fast food places have been turned into Enterprise Rent a car lots in the USA ?
Thank you for the trip down memory lane. We have family trips there as mom/sister go to the commissary and Dad/the boys go to the PX, mainly books and comics. Still one newsstand comic I'm missing to this day from Sept 2001. Shipments got tight then, it exist since the next 2 years they delivered but never saw that months comic.
I’ve enjoyed the videos over the years and can’t wait to get back to Germany with my wife and son this coming July 2024!!!
How about the souvenir store across from the base hat sold everything from coo coo clocks to switchblade knives and sex toys!
I used to walk from 516th down town.
Good pizza from Sportsfield and Tony’s!
I live in Hanau and also work in the Px in electronic, 1977-1980 when my husband died in the barracks sudden death in 1980.
I live in Pioneer Kaserne 3 years 77-80, Love Germany 🇩🇪
My father was in Building 8 in September 1957 and I was in Building 7 from 1988-1992.
We used to call this park Sha it park, because of all the sha it going on there. Mostly because of all the local druggies who hung out there under that one tree. This was early 1980s and there was this woman there, a nice looking woman in that group who had lesions all over her body, something we later knew to be AIDS, everyone knew to keep their distance for some reason knew something wasnt right. Ah, the fun times! Bonus was the topless woman sunbathing we were able gawk at....something you'd never see in the US!
Elvis shot a scene from his movie there, and some scenes in Sachsenhausen and the Hauptbahnhof area in Frankfurt. Watch 'GI Blues'
Former 12B here from Camp Eschborn. My wife and visited last year for the Christmas markets in Frankfurt, Nuremberg and our favorite in Rudesheim! What a cute town!
I love Germany, the first time I lived there was in 1968 off and on till 1998. My last duty station was Oberusul Germany outside of Frankfurt going towards gihssen. My housing areas I lived in where Hugel, Gibbs and rodelheim in Frankfurt. Ashaffenberg, Manheim, Bamberg, I will going to visit soon
Are there any videos from the Gießen PX and commissary?
Looking for a photo of the baseball field on pioneer. I proposed to my future wife in the dugout in 1978
Do you have a picture of the baseball field and dugout from 1978 at pioneer kaserne. I proposed to my future wife in that dugout
I remember that one store being a Jaguar dealership/video store
rode it during my 4th grade year -- built as the I.G. Farben HQ ( think Zyklon B ) & now a ,,Uni" )
Been there, rode them: 1979-1982.
Things have changed will be back in July 2024, and hope to have some time to snoop around.
It was not finished in 1976. It was still being built when I left in 1978.
The names of the people who lived there and where they exactly roomed are as follows; Elvis, his father Vernon, and his granny on his dad's side, Minnie Mae, in the second floor, one to each room, Red West and Lamar Fike in a bedroom on the first floor. The owner of the house, Maria Pieper, in the attic, and Elisabeth Stefaniak, his secretary and live in girfriend, for the entire time they were there, in the basement. And here is the only colour photo to have ever been taken of Elvis' 1957 BMW 507 during the time he had it, namely from Decem, ber 21 1958 to the end of February of 1960, when it was shipped to the US., It is now worth $9m. The photo was taken at about 6am, from the attic at #16 Goethestrasse. Written, by hand, in the passenger's door. is "Love you Elvis" . scontent.fmga3-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/400998890_24191667740447844_6442854059192503286_n.jpg?_nc_cat=107&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=a73e89&_nc_ohc=aYLbaJZMI40AX8yaBtd&_nc_ht=scontent.fmga3-2.fna&oh=00_AfBsq-DnENqUvtuxYI8wvFTxUr6QvLqk5qga_h3nJhrUgw&oe=65E1A946
I was there 87-90, assigned to Drake Kaserne, 22nd Chem Co, lived in the Eshborn highrise. My how things have changed. I forget the name of the U-bahn stop that was at the main px intersection
New Edward's from 75-80, played many football games at those fields, the blacktop we rode our bikes there, the company pick nics....then sledding at Dead man's hill across from the blacktop...the memories of a 54 year old kid....then Betts skating rink every Friday and Saturday nights
I bought tires at that auto repair for my 1989 Opel Kadett GSI in 2005.
Your memory is flawed.
The intro was more informative than the video. How true!
He was in Gelnhausen, not Bad Nauheim.
