    The more I watch DIY videos on speakers and cabinets, the more I appreciate the level of skill you have and put into these pieces. I have to ask.. how did you model your magico design? Did you match it to the volume of the CNO Mk II or Mk III (now up on their site.) Did you have to change the XO because the Mk III shows the tweeter slightly behind the driver. Thx

  • @noamgellerdiy
    @noamgellerdiy4 ай бұрын

    Thank you Michael 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 For the magico mini, I used every photo I could find on the net and photoshoped it into the CAD. Then I had the (almost) original size of the real deal down to the millimeter, as well the placement of drivers. Turns out the the magico mini has a capacity of 22Liter. The cno had 24Liter if I'm not mistaken... so it was easy to ignore the 2 Liters. So I went all on Magico and disregarded the cno design. Still sounds good 😉

    So which troels speaker do you like the best out of the ones you've built/heard

  • @noamgellerdiy
    @noamgellerdiy4 ай бұрын

    Hands down the TL2. I haven't had the CNO4 long enough to pass a fair judgment but I tend to prefer High efficiency and big boxes over modern size speakers. With the TL2 (the original one) you get envelopes in a huge sound stage. Dynamics are crazy and sounstage and mids are too die for. The only problem is size and cost. And... Big boxes should be build with strong materials and lots of bracing, I often see people "spending" lots of money on the kit and then building a box out of MDF... such a waste!

  • @noamgellerdiy

    Unfortunately haven't heard the A50, would love too. Commercial speakers wise- I would put them in the same boat as Goebel Divin Marquis. I heard them last year in Munich and thought- Very similar sound signature! Again-very much depends on how and from what materials the TL2 are being made. If you put them in a 30-70Sqm room with proper acoustics and gear they will walk over some very expensive speakers

    @@Smood47 Well some words for your friend then :) -Everybody are using the same drivers and crossover components, using the same old ways of calculating response... there is a saying in German "everybody bakes bread with flour and water". -High End speakers are obliged to have high end prices if they want to attract the costumers. The general crowd still believe that "If it doesn't cost as much as competitor speaker B then it must be worse", pushing the high end industry into a ridiculous pathetic price inflation that seems to get out of control in the last 15 years. - Have you noticed that Goebel Subwoofers Divin Sovereign seems to use the same BMS 18n860? look it up, the driver seems to be identical.

    Superb finish and workmanship. I have built 3 of Troels loudspeakers, the one I am keeping is the Revelator 851, very well ballanced. The finish i had problems with as I used MDF, next time if there is one , I will use Baltic Birch or similar. I did look at the CNO4 but a bit out of reach financially.

    Thanks mate for you comment 🙏🏼 Yes, Troels designs can get really expensive, really fast. I do urge you however to try your next build with 30mm plywood, I really believe it makes a difference. Beech being superior to birch. Here in Germany they cost almost the same- expensive!

I do not build amps... but the TL2 uses tge Hypex Fa501 delivering 400watt in 4 ohms to the 18inch BMS woofers. No need for subs.... and no need for expensive high watt gear for the upper module since you can biamp your speaker either with SET amp ( tubes) or First Watt J2 ( Nelson pass) with 95db the TL2 will rock also with 20watt.
