HAPPY BIRTHDAY LACHLAN🎉🎉🎉💪💪💪
Thank you!!!
Thank you!!!
Hey mate, thinking of getting a 670ht. How do you find comfort levels in the rough? Does it cut through chop well or does it just go over the top?
Hey mate, It’s pretty good for a plate boat. I’ve got the ballast flap too which adds a fair bit of weight to assist. It certainly cuts through the chop no worries, if it’s trimmed out right it’s a great ride. I’ve got plenty of vids here of us in the shit conditions.
@@theroachlife yea ive seen a few of your vids. Im just in the works of getting a 670BC HT or a 650 surtees gamefisher but theres a 15k difference of the BC being cheaper. I wonder if there is much of a ride difference to justify the price. Ever ridden a surtees?
@@digger2373 I would go the crusher. I reckon they are a better finish and much more available add ons. I’ve never ridden in a Surtees, but I’ve stood in a few. I reckon the only time the Surtees surpass the crushers are when you get into the bigger game fisher models
That's Bawon Heads ...
Hey mate I’m thinking of giving them ago next year looking at the 30w what’s your rod suggestion mid range nothing crazy 👍 cheers also mono or braid
Hey mate, We just use the new Shimano backbones, they are the same blank as the tiagra rods and now come with an Aftco roller, we paid about $250 each for them (the old ones were about $150, they had the shit roller). Can’t fault the new ones. We use a braid backing of 80lb with about a 100m top shot of 24kg on our 30ws. Great combo and stops marlin no worries
Hey mate hoping to head out do u have the coordinates by any chance
Hey mate, pause the sounder screen in the vid
Hey how did the adjustable bent but rods go?? And what brand are they and purchase from? Cheers
Hey mate, They went really well, we are super happy with them. I got them from a supplier overseas. They were $300 each
Sean doesnt just rawdog harnesses, Sean rawdogs life. Great trip by the looks of it. Yibbida Yibbida
He is the raw dog
Awesome stuff mate. You catching them on paternoster rigs ? We’ve never tried that. Just jigs, Squidtrex, livies and pillies on a free line.
Hey mate, thank you! Yeah we got them on some double paternosters. The other rigs are the reverse paternoster (sinker up top and hook trailing behind). When they are this thick they will eat anything haha
Stop the boat
Nice. Now that poor fish will Hall that thing around with him
Not likely, the hook will rust out in no time.
What is it with Smitty and the spews !
I celebrated a bit too hard the night before, it was a very hard day on the water for me. Usually don't take kwells but I should have that day.
Likes to celebrate a good days fishing, usually ends up seasick the following day haha
Awesome job guys. Great to see you on the fish. We are in our first game fishing season and hooked !
Thank you! It’s very addictive!
Marlin are hard enough to get to a hook up on lures get rid of those hooks get a thicker gauge hook and file the point down to like a razor.
Sound advice mate. Our latest trip we went back to livies and skip baits. Much better hook up rate
Nice work boys, do you run the same reel drags for barrels?
Those are 30ws that we are using for the marlin. Our barrel reels are 50ws with 37kg line, the general rule is you run your strike drag at 1/3 of the breaking strain. So for 37kg line we run the strike at about 12kgs. I hope that makes sense haha
Excellent effort by your team! With that 50ws and 37kg line, what rod rating do you use? Cameron
@@Camh1968 thanks mate. We use 24kg rods still. Would be hard pressed to snap one of them
@@theroachlife thanks mate. Would that be the 15-24kg rated rods or just 24kg rating? I notice in your video that one the rods snapped. How did this happen and what was the rating of that rod? Cheers
@@Camh1968 just the straight up 24kg I think they are. In that one the leader got wrapped around the tip and the fish took off
Hey mate, how are you liking the viper telescopic outriggers? Got a 670HT as well and ive copied a few of your ideas and the outriggers are next.
Hey mate, I love the bases they are awesome. I hate the poles, they didn’t make it home from this trip, we threw them out. The button locks and the eyelets are all knackered after only 3 years (basically only a month of full time use over that period). So I’m now in the market for new poles, I see viper have released newer poles, I might check them out. If you’ve got any questions mate please don’t hesitate in reaching out, happy to talk fishing and boats all day!
@@theroachlife thanks mate, would you go the telescopic ones again?
@@Linesandhookers maybe, if I can find good ones. I’m leaning towards the precision 2 piece ones at the moment
Nice work Lads
Thanks mate
Nice work guys, well done..👏
Thanks mate, was a good trip
Good luck just got back last week from bermi. Weather was perfect fished 6 days straight 4 marlin and a few kings at the island
Ripping stuff mate. We are hoping for something similar. Which end of the island did you get your kings?
@@theroachlife 1st time at the Island. Bermagui side or south side if that makes sense.
@@mattbass_strait6030 yeah mate that’s where we fish for them too.
Good luck mate. Keep Tathra in mind buddy.we fished last week and got some fish from that area.Bermi has been slow but consistant on the 12.
Thanks for the heads up mate. We will see what the charts are doing when we get up there. Will definitely focus in on Tathra though. Here’s hoping it fires up for us
When I used to gamefish I never used any teasers its all about time on the water and lots of it.
I tend to agree, although we have had a few fish smash our surface lures, it’s great to watch
Hey mate when are you going up?
Heading up Friday morning mate.

@@theroachlife got here Tuesday last week got 2 stripes Wednesday around the 90 fathom mark aswell as follies off the traps few boats 1 fish that day seen some others come in Wednesday faith flags up but only out of a small tinny going back to the island today chase kings
Great work. Life is good for you blokes! Do you prefer the longer rod butt lengths for fast jigging? Is the fast jigging technique better than slow jigging for kingfish? Cameron
It is when we are catching! No preference, they are just the rods we had on board. We find the fast jigging works best on the kings
@@theroachlife ok thanks mate.
hows it looking after some salt
Looks as good as the day I bought them. I’m very impressed
out to the shelf or in close ?
In close mate
Just wondering where were u guys fishing around, do u recon I could catch kingfish near the bridge?
Hey mate, we are off shore in this vid. I reckon you could get them off the rocks though near the bluff
Hi guys love your videos. Just wondering what spin rods you using for the Kingfish and school tuna? Cheers chris
Hey Chris, We are using the Shimano sentire stealth in the 5’1 pe 3-5 I think. They are cheapish ($200 or so). But have certainly done the job, we flog them
Rippa catch. Which day were you out? Was it from this week? I was there yesterday and didnt manage to find them. Well done mate! Jigging like a champion.
Hey mate, We were out Thursday. Yeah has similar reports from mates. The school must be moving around abit. She’s a tough way to catch fish jigging. The old arms are still sore
Well done. Great way to spend the day.
Thank you, couldn’t agree more!
Calm seas and fish on the deck! Who are you guys!? 😂 great start to ‘24 boys good to see some bent rods
Haha we don’t know what to do now!
Best eating aswell nice 👍
Agreed
That’s awesome mate. A great day on the kings. Some of our best days have been on Kingies. My missus seems to be an expert on them. Brilliant to see you in the fish.
Thanks mate, they are great fun when they are going!
Awesome footage man hard to find 👌
Thanks mate, just having a crack haha
Looks the business mate, be interested to see how it fares after taking a bath a few times. But if they hold up looks like a great purchase
Thanks mate. Apparently they are designed to withstand the salty brine. My mates look good as new after a couple of years and he doesn’t even wash them. So we shall see how we go!
notice your sub count climbing too !. get some more fishing videos out :) @@theroachlife
@@thesaltybadger yeah I always get a bump around this time of year with the school tuna running. I haven’t been on the water for nearly a month due to work and looking after the fam. But I can assure you I’ll be back out next week and will begin our Marlin prep for our trip in March!

Hehehe good work mate. Solo aint easy is it. I'm always missing the hook up on my vids. Great work though mate. So good to see you on the fish after your barrel drought. :)
Thanks mate. It’s bloody hard isn’t it. I get too excited trying to catch fish and forget to hit record. Appreciate the kind words mate. After barrel season I was beginning to think I was cursed!

How far away is that pier from Clifton Springs boat ramp what direction
Sorry mate only just saw this. It’s point Henry and the old Alcoa pier. About 10k
Faaark what a couple of days 🤦🏻♂️ bunch of bad luck on that trip lads
Yeah mate she was a rough one haha
Get yourself some leadering gloves 👍
Got about 5 pairs in the marlin box! But that’s no help when they are at home!
Makes me laugh … you get a strike from a schoolie and no one wants to bring it in 😂 pain in the ass they are
Haha the first 20 were exciting, the next 80 weren’t!
Thanks mate. Another great video roll out… Can I ask the name of those black rod holder covers that were on both rod holders in the gunnels closest to the helm? Sad that no barrels were caught for the whole season 🤤
Thanks mate. Which covers are they mate? It happens. Didn’t a get a marlin this year either!
@@theroachlifehi mate. For example, at 5.17 and 5.30 your camera showed across to Port side. In the vision I see a black cover on top of the gunnel rod holder closest to the HT frame. The sane black cover exists on Starboard side (at 4.51)… I want to cover my gunnel rod holders when not in use to stop water entering inside these holes….
Ah I’ve got you now! They are actually my outrigger bases. I have never bothered covering the rod holders as I usually take a lot of water in anyways in these wonderful Victorian conditions
@@theroachlife Thanks mate. I take in alot of water inside the gunnels through all of my gunnel mounted rod holders and I want to reduce this water exposure inside this area. I know I will not eliminate all the water as I acknowledge this is a wet riding boat. I am concerned about the water sitting in the gunnel being soaked into the carpet / underneath (and not drying) whilst the boat is sitting at home... Can you suggest any potential solutions to have these openings covered on a temporary basis? Cameron
@@Camh1968 try these www.whitworths.com.au/rod-holder-drain They slip on and you just run some clear vinyl tubing to the floor. That’s about all you can do. I just always make sure I hose down the gunnels after a big day
