There is no future in Steubenville. I left in 1964 joined Air Force. In 1968 after my discharge Weirton steel said I to dum to work a labor gang in the mill. He did me a favor because I got a with the airlines
Many thinkers of the Medieval Period were extraordinary minds, people like Augustin, Aquinas, Venerable Bede, Boethius, Hildegard of Bingen, arguably our greatest poet of all time: Dante, whose masterpiece The Divine Comedy is a must-read for all Christians, Chaucer, Sir Thomas Malory, and Isidore of Seville to name just a few, people who were much smarter, much more pious, and much better Christians than most of us, people from whom all of us can learn an awful lot. No,no,no, the Middle Ages was not a "Dark Age" at all. It was a revelation.
Thank you for this 😊
Word of wisdom: a part, NOT the Whole! A jewel, NOT the Crown! And: nature is NOT our Mother!
I really loved this talk.
The Big Grabowski!
I'll be at the Chesterton conference in July :)
My experience as a single woman has not been what was described in this podcast. Would be open to a discussion. This podcast would have been richer with a single woman participating. I did enjoy it and thank you!
Thank you for your commitment and loyalty for a cause that can change the direction of a corrupt culture for conversion and change lives of Our children and families in the Church, State education, national and local government all around the world.
The Faith of the mystics, the contemplatives, the Faith of Catholics who understood their origins, and defended, nor rejected their traditions.
RIP. Aidan was a very close friend of mine for over forty years. We met at a booksale (of course!) at Cambridge England in 1980. He became a friend and stayed with us in Canada on several occasions prior to our attending together (to sell books or give papers) at the Seattle Chesterton Conferences held in the 1990's. We named our eldest son Aidan partly in homage of him and he was happy about that always asking how "Good Aidan" was. I have a wealth of stories about him and his wife Dorene. He encouraged my writing on GKC and CS Lewis and the volume I did (Vol VII) for The Collected Works. He was knowledgeable and generous with his knowledge. Some of my students have written on GKC and Distributism and that link is directly forged out of our long friendship for which I shall always be grateful. RIP Aidan Mackey.
Can i say thank you? I am a Catholic Answers convert 2010 had my first communion. In commute heard the mass and rosary on radio and thought that catholics were 2000 years off base till I heard C.A. and was taken . Went to QnA at local parish . The more i learned the more i fell in love. Jesus had saved my soul but The Blessed Mother saved my life.
So good to hear your voice again, Alan Cornett! Miss those podcasts on Cultural Debris.
Those who...

Thank you!
Very enjoyable and thoughtful. Thanks.
excellent talk, very important & interesting comments for today !
Looking forward to seeing you at the convention Joseph.
The two guys whose intense and riveting conversation at the after party blew my mind. I would have loved to have sat at the foot of these masters (yes, Joe G., that includes you, too), Too bad the clock struck midnight and I had to turn in. (Two nights in a row would be too much for this old gal). And the rest of the Conference was pretty good too. Very smoothly organized and headlined with the best speakers. Oh and Dale Ahlquist too.
Beautiful!! Happy birthday, GKC!!
Joe, what is your take on “if the world returns to paganism it would be well to quote the Iliad and then die”?
I wanted to join you, but the time difference is murder!
From Lewis, i enjoyed very much ‘The Magician's Nephew’ what is inspiring for me! And i what to read 🤓his ‘The Space Trilogy’ as soon as possible!… But ✌️GK writes best stories!
Welcome Home; Alan 🙏🏻. Firing up a bowl lets you ponder it all…..
Thank you Bishop Robert Barron 🙏🙏🙏God Bless Delightful
Birth order has something to do with someone’s natural disposition. Chesterton, being the oldest, probably could easily and gracefully get his way. I can make this jab at him because he’s made jabs at me as the youngest child. Him and John Henry Newman. Saint Cardinal Newman said the youngest child often doesn’t become an adult until their late 30s or early 40s if ever. That has been a bother some comment to me lol.
I read ‘Everlasting Man’ each month, 😂 it’s a book so funnily wise!
I liked! The old Distributism term was really confusing!
Premenstrualtensians. Norbertines a gay dress up club for men.
It’s Bella Dodd, in her autobiography that tells the chilling tale of her escalation up and through the ranks of Communism in the US that was the first source I read on what it was like to be deeply entrenched in Comminism-and thinking you were actually doing good work! Check out School of Darkness. She gladly gave testimony during the McCarthy era and the House un-American Activities investigation. I wonder of Whitaker Chambers was in comradeship with Dodd.
❤ Thank you so much Bishop❤
Thank you Bishop Barron for your insight and analysis.
Praying for the repose of the soul of Aiden Mackey.
Brilliant Common Sense!
Talk a little bit more about what happens at a Chesterton conference? How do you dress? Is there smoking of cigars and pipes?
Hi David! Dress is summer casual, many people wear shorts and a golf shirt or the like, or one of our conference tee shirts! Of course, we also have Mass daily and for those who attend the liturgy they tend to dress up a bit more. In the evenings after the sessions, or during breaks even, you'll find a fair number of pipe and cigar smokers, yes.
@@AmCHESTERTONsocthanks for the valuable information!
