@@MorrisonFriends very cool I got two film an old friend last Saturday which was national train day my focus was in the Trinity Park area two great highlights were that day riding behind the CP Huntington train on the Forest Park miniature Railroad and by luck and surprise capturing GP7 number 2199 on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad both at Trinity Park Trestle and in this video at the Fort Worth stockyards my very first video on my channel featuring 2199 at the Fort Worth star even better that I filmed it departing the station empty I soon found out that it was temporarily clearing the station to make way for the Dayley gunfight show which would give the crew time to tidy up the train and preparation to take passengers back to Grapevine kzread.info/dash/bejne/gpiis9pxj7vNqNI.htmlsi=tkh3nQUj9yZ0sVpX

I just want to mention real fast that this crossing is in the unincorporated community of Silver Lake, not Grand Saline. FWIW, the FRA lists it as being "near Mineola" on the crossing's inventory report. Also, am I correct in assuming this was filmed the same day it was uploaded?

While filming the Forest Park miniature train I took a side trip to Montgomery Plaza to catch the Grapevine Vintage Railroad the first train that arrived was not what I expected a pair of FWWR diesels what I found out was they ran ahead of Grapevine and all The had to do was switch onto the 7th Street yard track out of the way to let Grapevine come through After that they started switching and I was able to film it on the opposite side sadly the GS bell on the pedestrian gate signal was dead kzread.info/dash/bejne/kXqOxcuMfbmtdqg.htmlsi=6mqgyXhiReP16T8r

WCH is the only signal manufacturer that still produces mechanical crossing bells both there 0333 and 0666 bells are still produced as well as their motorized bell which is commonly found on auto boat bridge crossings sadly this crossing once had A frame Wishbone type crossing gates on all four gate signals now there’s only one on the signal that’s opposite of the signal with the new WCH Bell a final stand against the modern single fiberglass style pedestrian type gate

6:14 my most favorite electronic crossing bell of all time is the GS type one it sounds amazing sadly general signals discontinued this bell some while ago I hope I can find one at a train show somewhere that’s the very last bell I would ever want completing my collection of a total of two electronic crossing bells and two mechanical crossing bells

Wow Santa Fe 3417’s whistle is at the Dillon Depot number 3417 is on display not far from there in Hulen Park you should check that out back in 2019 she received a cosmetic restoration and she’s looking better than ever before and she is now as of 2019 over 100 years old

It’s my theory that mechanical crossing bells are slightly louder than an electronic crossing bell I actually have two of them in my collection and one of them has been moved to my place from storage at some point I will take it out to do another long awaited demonstration this bell in particular by far my best in working condition I have a Raco mechanical bell it is featured on my previous video covering what I got at the Plano train show link to the video below kzread.info/dash/bejne/m6eTq9CHmqyyqbA.htmlsi=y5I816n13cgGJRks
