Watch @repairchannel 's video for another teardown and repair of the same issue. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aI1rltycfs7MdKQ.html If I would do this again I would probably use some alcohol and cue tips, don't use too harsh an abrasive material like I did, which I knew at the time but was all I had around.. While my repair worked, it didn't last too long because the scuffed up nature of my rotor probably meant it was wearing down the brushes at a rate of knots..

Hi Niels, thank you for posting this. I fixed my magimix blender which had the same problem and your video did help a lot. I was able to remove the coupler eventually, but it took way more effort than should have been necessary. You might want to check out my video of the whole process by clicking on my icon. Thanks!

Thanks! I'll put a link to your video in the description. The prices you got quoted by MagiMix aren't even THAT bad (compared to like $500 to fix the charging port on a macbook.).. But of course they do the nonsense argument that you need special tools, and it is unsafe, and many kittens will die.

I am researching steering design for FSAE vehicles and this is an incredible video. Thank you for this.

  • @NielsHeusinkveld

Thanks! There should be some tire data available for most FSAE tires, so you should have some idea of aligning torque. I would absolutely try to make a mathematical model with the trail, pneumatic trail but also jacking if you are going to use some real caster and scrub radius. Steering loads can be quite high on a FSAE car, because of how fast the steering rack tends to be made.

Very interesting take. It all makes sense from a physics standpoint. I have developed a non-conventional motion system that uses translation for transient accelerations, and the inertial cues are all spot-on. No inverse cues whatsoever.

This is complete bullshit honestly. I can only laugh at it, not copy it. Something which don't apply to real engines, must not apply to SIM games at all. What you are trying to achieve is called tuning/modding the parameters, if your pedal will interact with car acceleration due to software inputs, giving different results, it might end up like AMD Drivers. Be it 25 years old model of acceleration or 250 year old model, if Pedals have to open air to pass more fuel to engines that pistons can move and crankshaft does its work, hence acceleration happens (in Fuel bases engines not Electric motors) then it should be like that. Everyone gets same result then it should be like that. If you come with STATS and DATA about how real cars accelerate, with the charts and it differes with the above data then its the DEVS of all games at fault, if it matches then you are at fault.

Yeah, pulling away from a stop is where you really feel the difference between real life and sims. It just feels really off, It boggles the mind how something everyone does every day is not represented more realistically. It does the job but that is about as far as it goes. To experiment just get someone who has never driven a sim and see how they pull away from the pits. It feels alien to what everyone is used to in their daily cars.

I might be completely wrong. But in my opinion it feels like Kart Racing Pro is deliberately understeery because it's too hard to drive an oversteery kart in the game. Maybe the force feedback is not good enough. Or maybe I'm not good enough. Because I always find myself spinning when driving a oversteery Kart in the game. It's too hard to see it coming fast enough to not spin for me. Physics feel great, but it's VERY hard to handle the Kart In the other hand, it looks like KartKraft does the opposite. It is deliberately oversteery. That's why it feels so realistic, because in real life Kart racers barely turn the wheel, they just control the Kart rotation. It looks almost "arcadish" how easy it is to run such a loose Kart. But I might be completely wrong, as that's just my impression. I've never raced in a racing Kart or played KartKraft. 🤔

I just would like to add that, overall, KartKraft is probably the best game by far as it looks better, sounds better, the tracks are laser scanned etc. And let's say I'm right and the game is a bit "arcadish". In the end it kinda adds to the realism as well, because it helps you feel like you're in a real kart without being actually in one, feeling the whole thing with your entire body. 👍

I'm currently about 5% on my way to the definitive physics spreadsheet. It has to write lots of files, so I was testing a few ways to write to my SSD using VBA. I expected maybe a few megabytes per second. I was not expecting it to write faster than a mechanical hard drive can keep up with! I would need 2.5 gigabit network to allow for such speeds over a network! Great! Also, useless. Computing the actual physics parameters and text files takes far longer than this. So even when I will be saving 1000 cars at once, the % time saved by writing this quickly won't be very dramatic. Still cool though, says... nobody.

I ran this on a 386dx40 and i turned most detail off hehe. I played it with a Gravis joystick and it worked fine. Such a great game. Back then 25fps was normal and the resolution didn't look bad on a 14 inch monitor. Fond memories.

It is always static. The cockpit is a 2D image, not a 3D model that can rotate as we have gotten used to some years after this game came out.
