I model the Northeast Corridor (old and new) In HO Scale which includes road names like PRR, Amtrak, Norfolk Southern, CSX and any other road names / trains that ran in the respected area. As of 2021, I am running trains on a “U” shaped shelf layout in a spare bedroom. I mostly create short clips. Hope you enjoy!

Could I use some footage to finally give the PRR a theme song?
WHOA!! The New! Amtrak P42DC Phase 3! 1:19
Awesome! I would love to get that product too. Right now, I am saving money for the HO Scale Amtrak California Dash 8s that are coming out in June 2024 by AtlasTrains
Can this work on a bachmann amfleet?
not sure if you still monitor this but is the motor still conected to the wheels or did you disconect it and just run the lights and sounds with a decoder? Also what materials do you use to make your overhead catenary, I am curently modeling a section of the keystone coridor so the prr catenary is a key element.
That’s correct, I disconnected the motor from the drive shaft so it rolls freely. I used the decoder that was already installed but you can add whatever you want. The catenary is from a British brand but is incorrect for the north east corridor. If you want to model accurate Pennsy catenary then check out modelmemories.com
@@lipsnortheasttrains9128 thanks for the pointers man, I'll keep all that in mind
How did you get the catenary poles to stay stable?
They’re drilled and glued into wood
Beautiful little engine! I’m getting ready to paint a handful of brass models with tru-color. What primer and paint thinner did you use?
Thanks! Be sure to disassemble your model for cleaning. I recommend using warm water, dawn dish soap, electric toothbrush and blow dryer or heat gun. Once it’s clean and dry, use Tamiya Metal Primer (can or airbrush). Once that dries, use regular Tamiya grey primer and you’re good to go. The more you do this the better you’ll get. Hope this helps.
@@lipsnortheasttrains9128 I debated using the metal primer, I do have Tamiya grey primer on hand. I was going with the sandblasting method and then adding a primer to the etched brass. I might pick up some metal primer and give that a shot.
@@michaelstrains4014 I tired it all. Can’t go wrong with either method.
G5s is my favorite class of PRR steam. You've done a terrific job of making one look freshly shopped and ready to take off with commuters.
How out of curiosity, given the supplys and money, would you be willing to comission 2 of these by chance?
whats the best way to mount the catenary poles on foam board
Hey where did you catenary system from?
Ok thank you
Where you happy with the Moyer replacement in that E60 because I plan on doing mine and what decorder did you use?
Oh definitely satisfied with the motor replacement. I used a TCS non-sounds decoder. Works perfectly.
Are you using a model memories catenary system and was it difficult to build?
No, I wish. I used a company from the UK. I can’t recall the name. When I do it again, I’ll be trying model memories and shapeways. It wasn’t hard to put together once you complete the first couple of masts and it’s connections.
Beautifully done! A+ on the E60's weathering and the run-by scenes are attention getting ;-)
Thank you 🙏🏼
Nice video, Like😃😁
I inherited one of these from my grandfather. I’d like to install DCC but never attempted before. I see TCS has kits with everything you need, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of information differentiating between the kits besides them looking like different sizes. Any tips?
Jeff, I’d recommend getting the following: 1) Decoder Buddy Mini (21 pin) 2) 21 pin TCS WOW steam (latest version) 3) TCS Keep Alive (either size) 4) Warm White Micro LED (eBay) The decoder buddy mini makes installing DCC extremely easy. Just watch a few videos for each item listed above and you should be good. When installing DCC, determine which side of the boiler picks up power then make sure the tender picks up power from the opposite side of the boiler. Use a multimeter to determine this. This ensures you don’t get shorts because the decoder needs to be isolated from the brass and get power from both left and right rails. Everything needs to be isolated. I can’t stress that enough. Hope that helps.
Excellent job! Where’d you pickup the number boards and the headlight bezel?
Thank you. I cut out plastic styrene to fit the number boards and airbrushed them black before adding the decal numbers. I made the lens out of plastic optical fiber and just heat the tip with a lighter to create the shape of the lens. While it’s still warm, press the tip against a clean flat surface to get the lens to be flat. That’s how I make the lens for brass models. Works great but it takes some practice. Hope this helps.
@@lipsnortheasttrains9128 would have never thought of the fiber optic cable! I’ll have to try that. I think you also said you swapped in a cam motor from Micro Mark. Do you recall which one? I just picked up one of these yesterday and this is my first step into brass.
@@Stoker58 I don’t recall which motor but tbh, any can motor would work well. You just got to measure the current open frame motor and try to match the measurements with a can motor. I recommend MABUCHI Mini FF-180PH Motor DC 3V 6V 12V motor. That brand is decent and cheap. I get all my stuff on eBay.
@@lipsnortheasttrains9128 Perfect Thanks, I assume you had to drill a hole for the headlight LED. Never done one for a headlight that wasn’t mounted centered on the smoke box how did you go about running your wiring for that?
@@Stoker58 I used a micro electric drill with a small drill to allow a thin wire through. I drilled as hole under the light housing and another hood directly under the light mount straight through the smoke box so you barely can see it. I taped the wire down inside of the smoke box using Kapton tape to protect the wire from being damaged. I sealed the holes using a little bit of liquid electrical tape applied with a toothpick.
Looks very good
Looks great! Awesome job well done. Cheers. Syl
is there an E60 with phase 3 and top headlights
Looks amazing! I wish i had the money to buy it when i saw it on ebay, my cabcars looks okay from a distance, but this one puts them to shame! Glad you shared it with us!
Wow, that’s an amazing custom cab car! Nicely done.
It gets better and better 🙌🏻
How did you set up the overhead wires because im looking to buy a aem7/hhp8 and would love some tips on how to set it up
Mine was from a Uk manufacture (I forget the name). If you want prototype stuff then head to Modelmemories.com. I watched videos and read how to set them up. Hope this helped.
Nice Amtrak Set You Got, Did You Custom Made It Your Self?
I did, thank you. Sometimes it’s referred to as “Kit bashing”.
@@lipsnortheasttrains9128 Your Selling The HO Amtrak Cab Car Phase 5 Kit Bashed Walthers Metroliner On eBay? Why? 🤨
@@utahrailroadsofamerica1991 I want to get the PRR E6 from BLI. I could always kit bash another metroliner later.
@@lipsnortheasttrains9128 Oh......., So You Don't Like The HO Amtrak Cab Car Phase 5 Kit Bashed Walthers Metroliner Anymore Cause Of The BLI E6 PRR Want To Get? Because I Know Your Amtrak Looks Really Cool & Nice And It's Really Hard To Find One Like Yours Your Selling On eBay
@@lipsnortheasttrains9128 where can you find that at?
Wow! That looks amazing! Is the cab from a bachmann metro liner or a walthers proto metroliner
Walthers
Epic setup
Beautiful secenery. Love how well done the overhead wires are.
I’m hoping they redo the P40 phase 3 with the faded stripes
Was that a kitbashed Viewliner baggage car?
Yes. I paint and decal a resin kit. I still have a few left that I plan on working on when I have the time. I sold a few of them on eBay and plan to sell the remainder when I can.
Phenomenal modeling. 10/10 well done.
Thank you
Does Bachmann Amtrak GE E60CP #978 Phase 3 Electric Locomotive come with DCC sound? I saw a loco in ebay and it says DCC fitted. I am not sure if it has DCC sound in it
It only comes with DCC (no sound) from the manufacture. You could add your own decoder and speaker if you want.
@@lipsnortheasttrains9128 so with dcc only the lights can be controlled? Can you please suggest a right sound decoder that can be fitted in this loco so that i can purchase the same.
@@deshkumar9 yes, that’s correct. Only the lights can be controlled besides the movement of the loco. The DCC from the manufacture is garbage. I installed an upgraded non-sound decoder from TCS and added a keep-alive. I used a decoder buddy mini (21-pin board) to pair with the 21 pin decoder. I’d recommend any decoder from TCS or Lok Sound. Both have great decoders both sound and non-sound. You’d have to figure out what speaker to use. I buy iPhone 7 speakers on eBay as they’re really good quality and compact. Hope this helped.
Too bad these Amfleets now run like 500 dollar's a piece. Ridiculous.
Beautiful work, amazing detail, my plans are for a huge layout in my basement soon with HO scale since I was a child in the 70's. Plan on doing the NEC area as a scheme. PRR, Penn Central, Amtrak etc..
Thanks! I’m looking forward to your new layout. Hope you post videos of it.
Well done, that is how I remember them.
Where are the Strobe lights?😡🤔
I love Rivarossi passenger cars - they have great aesthetics and with just a little modding and care they can look as good as the off-the-shelf stuff out there now.
I'm salivating... As usual, I'm late to the party and have to play catch up as my only Amtrak locomotives thus far are: Two EMD F59PH Two P42 Phase III Acela HHP-8 I'm desperate for: Two ACS-64 Two SC-44 One AEM-7 Two SLC-62 Two "Pepsi Can" Dash-8's In addition to the assortment of coaches in Phase IV-VI. Excellent video, thanks for sharing!
I want your entire collection haha!
Does it still have the HEP function? I have the F40PH’s from Rapido that won’t move unless you their startup.
Yes. It’s a feature you can turn on or off.
