Great camping video, looks awsome there, were looking at going to isle of sky this year, was ben nevis last year👍
Thanks for watching & subscribing. I hope you get good weather for your Skye trip. ATB Derek
Nice to see the young apprentice out with ya. What a fine pitch Derek. 😎👌⛺ Need weather like that back. Lovely time lapse of the cloud rolling in.
Thanks Kev. Yes, a wee spell of settled weather would be good for a few more summer wild camps! Would definitely revisit that site. The water source was an added bonus too. 👌 Nice easy approach if time is limited. ATB Derek
Super video. Good atmospheric music for the sunset and sunrise
Thanks for watching mate. Glad you enjoyed the film. It was great to get the Apprentice back out on this trip. ATB Derek
Cracking sun set very atmospheric nice video cheers
Thanks for watching. Yes, we got lucky with the weather for this trip. 👍 ATB Derek
Great video, Derek. You definitely had the weather, atb Raymond.
Thanks for watching Raymond. Yes, I think we managed to catch the end of the 1st part of summer that weekend! 👍😎 ATB Derek
Great to see your return to Stob Ghabhar for an overnight summit camp! The hike from Victoria Bridge by Loch Tulla must have been quite the experience. Catching both the sunset and sunrise at 1089m looks really impressive. Thanks for sharing the views from this beautiful peak!
Lovely video Derek, great spot for the tents altho not much space😂😂 Loved the sunset moments that you got and the sunrise was very spectacular. Beautiful music to accompany the Timelapse, loved it. Great edit👍 ATB Frank
Thanks for watching Frank, glad you enjoyed the edit. 👍 Yes, really only room for two tents. No snoring allowed! 😂 The cloud inversion made up for missing the sunset. Crazy to think would have been snowing up there on Wednesday. ATB Derek
Your just getting older 😉 A fine video Derek. A fine pitch too. 👌⛺ Nice to see the trusty Lanshan. Those midges eh. No escaping them. Quite an atmospheric sunset with the clag. What a morning tho 😍😎
You are right Kev! 😂 There was just enough space for the two tents to get pitched. Wouldn't want to be spending tonight up there. Will be wild in these gales, maybe will blow the midges away! Lets hope summer returns soon. ATB Derek
@@scottishclimber7630 Aye weather been brutal lately. MWIS video saying High pressure late July maybe 🤞
Fantastic views great views a favourite Munro’s of mine a great viewpoint with an impressive Corrie cheers
Glad you enjoyed the views. It is a fantastic summit with great 360 degree panorama. ATB Derek
Great video, loved the views 👍
Thanks for watching. It's a great viewpoint. ATB Derek
Fantastic video. The views are awesome. Thanks for sharing. 👍3
Nice one Derek. Lovely views and fab weather. Had two attempts at Ben Starav on our annual winter walking trips . We come up from Gloucestershire at the end of November and stay at the YHA in Glen Coe for 5 days. We've either been beaten by the weather (deep snow) or by darkness. We'll get there one day. Cheers,Ozzy.
Thanks for watching. Hopefully, it's a case of 3rd time lucky when you next attempt to reach the summit. Its definitely worth waiting for a clear day to enjoy the views. ATB Derek
Nice one Derek, lovely weather and views, I’ll defo need to revisit Starav once I’ve finished this round. I felt rushed going over Starav as I was in a group of around 10 hikers. Nicely edited Derek and good commentary.👍 ATB Frank
We were lucky to get such a good day Frank, thanks for watching. Will need to revisit the outlier Ben nan Aighenhan sometime. Our descent route would be the most direct approach. ATB Derek
Cheers
A fine day for a return Derek. 😎 I've still the outlyer to do so I fancy a return to Starav. Maybe camp up there and explore it's Tops. I noticed the hydro track last year. Defo better than the boggy mess before.
We got a great day for it Kev! 👍if you ascend by our route of descent the stream goes quite far up the glen, so less climbing with all your water. Then set up camp and head out for Ben nan A! ATB Derek
Brilliant the hydro road was not there when I climbed this Munro many years ago I hope they haven’t spoilt the area I remember it was a steep climb nice video cracking views I will have to return and climb it cheers
Thanks for watching. The old path was very rough and boggy as it approached the river, so the new track is definitely an improvement. When you next visit I would arrive early as parking is very limited. ATB Derek
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. 👍1
Nice too see you back out Derek, great conditions for your 1st hike in a while. Superb views all round and yeh I’d get back up and do more of your local ones. Nice edit👍 ATB Frank
Thanks for watching Frank. Since Narnain managed a few other good spring hikes. Just need to get the edits done! ATB Derek
Finally back oot. 😉 Nice video Derek. Good to revisit eh and stretch the legs. "Nice to see a wee bit of snow before we're away from that time of the year." I had to laugh at that. It's back ❄️ albeit the highest Hills.
Thanks for watching Kev. After a very slow start this year managed 3 more trips in last 5 weeks.👍 Between poor weather, work, elderly parents and usual family stuff it's not so easy getting time for the hills these days. Now I just need to get the other trips edited! 😂 ATB Derek
Cracking I had mist on summit when I did this Munro so nice to see views cheers
Thanks for watching. The view down Loch Long is fantastic and I definitely recommend another visit on a clear day. ATB Derek
Love this area Derek. Spent loads of time in these mountains and that view of the cobbler as you walk up is tremendous 😊. Cracking day you got for it! Paul
Thanks for watching Paul. I should really visit these hills more often as see them regularly when out and about at work in Inverclyde.ATB Derek
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. Like 👍13 and subd
How many time from the parking to the cliff to see birds ?
Just what the doctor ordered Derek. Magic wee winters day. 😎👌 Quite fancy a return to these 2. Never got a view from Stob Garbh.
Thanks for watching Kev. These are great hills worth keeping for a clear day. Had a summit camp up Stob Gabhar about 5 years ago at midsummer need to do that again sometime when the planets are in alignment! ATB Derek
@@scottishclimber7630 Aye roll on the longer spring days. 😎
Great wee walk Derek. Cracking views over Rannoch noor from there. A nice wee leg stretch on a short winters day! Paul
Thanks for watching Paul. Yes, its a great wee viewpoint. Enjoyed your Gulvain film last night. Just been there once on a February day in similar conditions. We walked in, bike is definitely better idea. Its a classic example of summit being at furthest away point on the ridge! ATB Derek
Thank you for sharing your beautiful hike ,another one for the todo’s 🤗
Thanks for watching. It's a hill definitely best kept for a nice day when you can enjoy the views.
Cracking video this Munro is a firm favourite of mine and Stob Gabhar brilliant views over Rannoch moor cheers
Thanks for watching. I always enjoy the walk next to the river. Views are excellent on a clear day from the summits in this area.

Another great video sir 👏 Good circuit up there Carn Liath is my favourite done it twice great path up horrendous path back from number 3 enjoy watching your vlogs would love to join you on a hike 1 day David from Fife 🥾
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the film David. It's a great walk with plenty of variety. I agree it's a loooooong walk back from no 3. Hopefully, weather settles down and can get a hike over Christmas. ATB Derek
Hi, wow, a great hike. The landscape where you live is magnificent. Very beautiful. Thanks. We wish you a nice rest of the week. Greetings Alex and Alex
Thank you for watching, commenting and subscribing to the channel. 👍 Yes, we are lucky to have scenery like this near home. Best wishes, Derek
Nice one Derek, you got a fantastic day for it. We missed the cut off to the right when we did it so we did the route clockwise. It’s such a fantastic hike and you captured it beautifully. Long gap between your 1st hike and your 2nd. Enjoyed that Derek👍 ATB Frank
Thanks for watching Frank. Yes, was a good day for it. Wouldn't want to be up there today in these winds! Have a Merry Christmas & best wishes for '24. 🎄 Derek
@@scottishclimber7630 thanks Derek, hope you have a lovely Xmas & New Year also.
Great day for it. I was thinking I might take a walk up tomorrow. Thanks for sharing. Liked and subscribed! 👍
Thanks for watching & subscribing. Ben Lomond looked great yesterday morning with snow on upper 1/3 of the mountain. Enjoy your hike. 👍
Someone needs to sort that window eh. 😂 Nice video Derek. Bet it's good to revisit these Hills for round 2. That was some weekend for ya back in 96.😉
Thanks for watching Kev. I think one of the reasons we hadn't revisited these hills sooner was that it's a long daytrip from home. Left house at 5.15am and home for 11.30pm. 2nd breakfast & tea were at the Fort W Golden Arches! 😂 Was good to see Creag Meagaidh at different time of year. Hopefully, weather settles down again in time for Christmas and can get a festive trip to the hills. ATB Derek
Aye, that was a cracker. Don't see me being up there in another 27 years though!
Great stuff buddy ❤
Thanks for watching and subscribing. 👍
Nice one Derek, glad the weather held out for you as the views were tremendous.👍 I came back from the 3rd the usual way and found it an absolute slog back to the car. I was thinking of coming back down off that top also. Nice edit Derek. ATB Frank.
Thanks for watching Frank. Hope to get a trip around Creag Meagaidh uploaded in next few days once I finish the edit. ATB Derek
Love the cloud time lapse. Nicely filmed. Just subscribed. Best wishes on the next.
Thanks for watching and subscribing. 👍
Great video Derek. Good to get back oot eh. 20 years eh. I was just a young pup. 😉 Been a few years since I did the circuit. Bags of boulders scattered around the Base of Carn Liath for the path. Looks improved. I remember the steepness coming off the Munro Top. That loooong walk back anaw eh.
Thanks Kev. Yes, was really glad to see the car after the long walk back! I'd better not leave it another 20 yrs or it might be too much for my old legs by then! 😂😂 ATB Derek
Great footage excellent thank you
Thanks for watching. It's an interesting route around the four tops. 👍
Looked a magic trip Derek. 😎 Been to both countries but never up to the Alps. Defo need to visit. Some cracking Waterfalls. Lake Garda looks amazing.
Thanks for watching Kev. I'd definitely recommend a trip to the Alps. About 25 years ago Dave and I used to go to Switzerland for two weeks hiking each summer. Sometimes we hired guides and managed to climb a few of the easier 4000m peaks. There are some that don't require climbing eg Gran Paradiso, some peaks on Monte Rosa, Breithorn and Allalinhorn. Also, some cracking summits around 3500m eg Pigne d'Arolla, Mont Blanc de Cheilion. Unfortunately, the exchange rate these days makes Switzerland very, very expensive if live in UK. Austria is more affordable and if you can make use of the summer cards for free cable car access helps a lot, especially when family are there too. Lake Garda has nice contrast of warm more settled weather and still has good mountain scenery. ATB Derek
@@scottishclimber7630 Yeah I've always fancied Switzerland, but heard it's pretty pricey. Defo gonnae look into getting over to Austria and Italy in the future.👍
Che vacanza bellissima! Meravigliosa, da vedere ancora, questi spettacolare Monti Pallidi. 🇮🇹👍
Grazie mille!
Great film. I completed a 2 day backpacking hike in Knoydart from Kinlochhourn in Late September 2023. I summited Ladhar Bheinn on the first day and was absolutely battered by fierce winds coming in off the Atlantic. I took a selfie at the trig and had to hold the mobile with both hands for fear of it being torn from my grasp. Not a day for camping near the summit like in your film. If I had taken my tent out, it would have ended up being ripped from my grasp and taken out into the Atlantic. I quickly descended South into Coire Na Laogh. I camped the night in a very sheltered and beautiful spot near the foot of Meall Buidhe which I was to climb the following morning. I then went on to do Luinne Bheinne before descending into Barrisdale. Due to rain of biblical proportions the streams crossing the track back to Kinlochhourn had swollen into raging torrents which made the last part quite interesting. The Scottish weather can make for incredible contrasts in climbing mountains. All enjoyable and all challenging!!
Thanks for watching. Your trip certainly sounds exciting. Glad you found a sheltered spot for your camp. When I compleated the Munros back in 2005 I'd camped at Mam Barrisdale and then climbed Ladhar Bheinn to finish my 1st round . It's a fantastic place to visit when the weather allows.
Fantastic video Derek, lovely edit. What a fantastic day you got for it☀️👍 views down to loch Avon we’re superb, that’s the path I took down to loch Avon when we did the munro. Sunrise was beautiful as well Derek. Enjoyed that.👍 ATB Frank
Thanks for watching Frank. It was the perfect day for a hike up there. Wish we got these conditions more often rather than our usual wet n wild conditions! 😂 Certainly makes you appreciate days when the sun shines. ATB Derek
Great video Derek. A fine overnighter in the Gorms. 😎👌 Another Munro Top in the bag. You must love that camp spot eh. 😉 A fine one indeed. Camped near there way back in 2008. Also at Etchachan & Avon. Need to return to the Gorms sometime.
Thanks for watching Kev. Yes, it's probably my favourite camp spot. Cracking views from it and water supply too. As I get older I think I prefer the good network of well constructed paths in the Gorms. We'd hoped to get a few more high level camps this year, but the unsettled summer weather didn't allow that. ATB Derek
@@scottishclimber7630 Aye same. Been awful this summer. Roll on a good spring
Cracking wee adventure! Beinn Mheadhoin is one of three cairngorms ive still to visit! Any tips on the best approach?. 😊 paul
Thanks for watching Paul. The views on the walk down to Loch A'an were brilliant. When we did Beinn Mheadhoin it was from Linn of Dee. Cycled in to Derry Lodge then ascent of Derry Cairngorm and across to Beinn Mheadhoin. Then long walk out back to the bikes. It's not an easy hill to get to. ATB Derek
Wow, absolutely breathtaking scenery my friend! This looks phenomenal!
Thank you for watching. 👍 I am glad you enjoyed the video. It is a fantastic part of Scotland.
Great stuff, some super footage there 👍
Thanks David. It's a fine part of the country, especially in great weather like we experienced during the trip. 👍
Fantastic, Loch A'an really is a cracker of a spot. So glad we opted to head down there.
Great hike and stunning views. Thank you for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching. I think the view south to Glen Etive is one of Scotland's finest views. 👍
Stunning day Derek. Glencoe is hard to beat on a blue sky day. 😎👌 Nice sky at night anaw. Did ye have a few along at the Clachaig? 🍻🍺😎
Kev you can't beat Glencoe when the weather is clear and sunny. Yes, we had a few refreshments at the Clachaig on the Friday evening. ATB Derek
