I purchased this bass 19 years ago for a gig aboard a cruise ship in Hawaii. It was perfect for what was required, as it had enough acoustic volume to play while strolling from table to table in the grand dining room. After changing out the bridge saddle with a Martin compensating saddle and putting thomastick flats on it. It was ‘perfect’. It sounded fantastic both acoustically and through an amp. I made a lot of money with that bass, which helped me move to the island of Kauai, but after the contract ended, I sold it. It was a great bass. I highly recommend it… Still on Kauai…

I own a Breedlove Custom Shop Performance Focus Maple. It is basically the same tonewoods and body style as this but without the fancy appointments. You should hear how that guitar sounds now that the top has opened up.

Wow! I'm looking at one on Reverb by Kim Breedlove, older brother of Larry Breedlove, who took over Breedlove Guitars when Larry returned to work with Kurt Listug, Bob Taylor and the other early employees at Taylor Guitars. Taylor helped Larry Breedlove and Steve Henderson start their business in Tumalo, Oregon as both worked at Taylor. Steve Henderson moved to his Oregon farm, and Larry returned to Taylor Guitars, as they convinced Kim Breedlove to leave Deering Banjos and join their business to take it on. "Near the top of the line in 2017 were the Master Class and Exotic series, along with further models in several more series, ..., including the beginner-friendly Discovery." (Excerpt from Acoustic Guitars: The Illustrated Encyclopedia, blow out priced at $20 and added to make the minimum for an order of Bob Taylor's book, Guitar Lessons, from Barnes & Noble online.) Since one of my kids and their family live in Bend, Oregon, a Breedlove tour is in my future.

Enjoyed this immensely Krista - did you listen to or study Michael Hedges? Or Andy McKee? Lot's of good comparisons to be made to those *Masters* of alt tunings and tap technique - thanks - and disregard the idiot who could only comment on your nails......your composition and technique are awesome. This is the wood that made me sign an exclusive to Breedlove as an endorsed Artist. I dropped my endorsement deal with a much larger and much more famous guitar manufacturer the moment I plucked one string on my Oregon concert all myrtle olive guitar #9 I believe. I've been slowly selling off all my other acoustics from a 15 year touring career. This is the sound I always heard in my head. Thank you so VERY MUCH Breedlove!!!!
