    nice one, it's a deep instrument and I've been using it for many years I played with the prototype in 2005 at SIGGRAPH Expo in Los Angeles, Toshio Iwai (creator) was there 🙂 waiting for a few years I had to buy one

    Hello! It's been yars, but can anyone tell what parts of mixer will actually be working if external sources (cdj-s for instance) are being used?

  • @andrecato
    @andrecato2 жыл бұрын

    Faders, eq, volume, standard mixer stuff. Obviously all the buttons that trigger digital features probably won’t do anything, I honestly can’t remember if there are any built in filters like NI’s Z2

    I can already see the problems that raise its ugly head after a months . Buttons are to small clunky , the lcd screen is gonna be a nightmare to read on sunny days - Frequency response doesn't do the woofer any favors . and the max SPL comes up short compared to similar brands . If Peavey added just 12 more DB it would really add depth to this PA speaker . Hoping in the future they'll be more user friendly connections . BT and Wi-Fi 3.5 mm headphone jacks , USB plug ins for music that's been downloaded . wouldn't hurt for a larger screen . Certain DJs near deaf and losing there vision - I'm just say'n

  • @andrecato
    @andrecato4 жыл бұрын

    The delay is used for installation purposes in larger venues where you need to set a signal delay. It is NOT an effect delay if that is what you are thinking of?

    aaron blyler that sounds terrible aaron! These Dark Matter were updated about 12 months ago I am told. There were problems with the first batch so they got changed and problems fixed. These ones that i reviewed are obviously the new ones as I pushed them extremely hard without issue. What country are you in?

    Very good review, I've heard from a number of sources now that these are good speakers for music production and mixing so I'm seriously considering either the Presonus 3.5 or Edifier r1280t which are both the same price.

  • @oldnikonian343
    @oldnikonian3436 жыл бұрын

    I bought the bigger Presonus Eris 4.5' monitors along with the 250W Presonus Tremblor T10 subwoofer. The 4.5's were struggling for bass without the sub added, in fact they left me wishing I had bought the even bigger Eris 5's instead, so I can't imagine these smaller 3.5's being very adequate in that department.

  • @andrecato
    @andrecato6 жыл бұрын

    There is no one size fits all for any studio monitor, the trick is getting the balance right for your room and the projects you are monitoring. I use the Eris 3.5 for Video editing and they have MORE than enough bass for this. As mentioned in the review, they are also great gaming monitors and very accurate. I am glad you found the right PreSonus monitor setup that is right for you!

  • @oldnikonian343
    @oldnikonian3436 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for your reply Andre. Of course people have different space available to them and different uses for their speakers. Mine are used in quite a big space and I have them hooked up to a Focusrite Scarlet 6i6 audio interface so that I can plug my guitar, Yamaha keyboard, mics and electronic drum kit into it. So I do a bit of my own mixing (usually without the sub, i.e. it has a foot pedal to cut it out when required), but they are also excellent for just listening to music per se, so crystal clear, clean and such good separation between instruments. Also, both the monitors and the sub are very adjustable, having features like EQ and room acoustic adjustments, features that are normally only found on speakers at a much higher price point. One thing for sure Andre, is that whatever someone chooses for their particular circumstances, they can't go far wrong with the Presonus brand as they are very well built, look good, have an excellent sound quality and won't break the bank. I just thought I'd mention the bass because there might be some like me who like a bit more of it as and when required. The 250W Tremblor T10 I have might be a bit of overkill in a small space, i.e. like I said, I have quite a big space and the "gain" is turned down quite a bit in order to tame the beast and stop it shaking my house down to rubble, lol. Once the sub was set up correctly, it proved to have an excellent tight and responsive bass with no muddiness at all where beats bleed into each other. But Presonus also have a 200W T8 in their line up, which could be an option for smaller spaces. Also, Presonus monitors don't have to be hooked up to a Presonus sub, other brands will do the job, maybe one that's less than 200W in a really tight space. I wasn't trashing the 3.5's Andre. Knowing Presonus like I do, I'm sure they're great little speakers. I was just offering more options for different requirements, in particular if more bass is required. It's amazing how much bass they can squeeze out of tiny speakers these days, but a sub will still put your set up into a whole new league bass-wise.

    Glad to hear it Nik, and thanks for elaborating as your first response was a bit vague for people that don't know these things. Sounds like you love your music and gear. See you at NAMM in January?

  • @VincentHan

    Could you possibly create a frequency chart? I'm interested in seeing how flat the response of this pair is.

  • @andrecato
    @andrecato6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Vincent, I have no way of doing that accurately, so no, there is no way I would create a frequency chart. These monitors are brand new and I am not sure if PreSonus have a chart, but I have asked them for you and will let you know if they have one. I severely doubt it, considering these are a sub- $200 pair of monitors!!!

    Hey Andre, I appreciate the reply! Have you ever tried the Mackie CR3? I am strongly considering this model now over the CR3s, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of info online right now since it's still so new.

  • @andrecato

    Hey Vincent, no I have not. I do suggest you trust your ears. Go into a store and listen to them both. Personally for this price, i have never heard a monitor sound so good as the Eris...

    Thank you for the review. Quick question. I’ve read that Audio Technica headphone are really good for noise isolation. What about this one ? I know that it won’t replace a noise cancellation function, but have you tested it in public transport or a plane ?

  • @andrecato
    @andrecato6 жыл бұрын

    They sound great and very lightweight, so yes, you are correct, there is no isolation, but they have a great balance, sound and if you need more volume or HD audio, you can plug them in also. I found them to be great on the train, more than loud enough. Cheers
