  I'm all for growing beards and the fun of a friendly competition, but I find it troubling that those guys from Texas were trying to raise money to go to Norway for a beard competition. How about work at a job, save up some money, and pay for the ticket yourself if going is that important to you? Or have your own beard club sponsor the event? And if you can't afford it, then just don't go. This fundraiser has to be at the very bottom of the list of important things that money could be raised for. I think it would have been wonderful if they'd use their long beards to try to raise money for things that actually matter -- like to help fight starvation, to help animal rescues, to help find cures for diseases, to help people in need. But a bunch of grown men asking people on the street to pay for their flights to another country just so they can "represent Texas" (i.e. have a free vacation to Norway), that's just quite shameful in my opinion.

  I agree with you and most maybe all of the beard competitions here in the U.S the money goes to charity like food boxes and animal shelters..

  Douglas Middleton no as the category defined as 4” and you would have a lot of beard around your head. If you tied beneath chin Sikh style tightly it depends. Similar to idea of “tuck”. It would have to be very clean and in your case that lot is a lot of facial hair to hide. Try it, send me a picture. In the end you want to impress the judges.
