@Dexter The humor isn't within the context of the scene. It's the fact that we've known someone who has used the line completely out of context. I used to work security at an office building with a guy hired as the site's electrician and he used to love using that line for some of the oddest situations: Boss is stopping by the property to check up - "Damn, damn, damn!" Cleaning staff is about to throw away the free sandwiches in the break room - "Damn, damn, damn!" His girlfriend is stopping by while he's on the phone with his side piece - "Damn, damn, damn!"

Yesterday at the assistant living as I was delivering dinner to the residents, one of the residents was unhappy with his meal and he kept saying "dam, dam." It reminded me of this.
