    do you need all four washers if they don't fit? seems like you could just get away with a single set on each side? or maybe a set on the inside and a set on the outside?

    For mine I needed the four of them just as how i placed them, I tried doing different ones like you mentioned but it wasn't solid, it felt loose, thats why I made sure to put the four of them so its firm

    I think I would have used marine grade/liquid proof heat shrink tubing along with soldering the wires. They encapsulate the wires with a gel as it shrinks fits the wires to ensure no liquid would make contact the the electrical cables. Not sure if electrical tape with it's adhesive would hold up long submersed in gasoline which may desolve the adhesive and tape fall to the bottom of the tank, exposing the bare wires in gas. Just my 2 cent here. I've been there before pulling out a tank in a 86 MR2 with floor jacks.... not a fun job and not something I would want to do over again.

    Holy shit you’re doing almost the exact swap I want to do to mine! What are you doing for engine management and the harness? My swap is starting as soon as I get another job so pretty soon hopefully! I can’t wait to follow along with the series and build mine too.

    @@richinstyle3310 Mine’s an 87. I got it when I was 18 and blew the motor less than a month in. One week after getting it running and changing the oil too lol. I had lost the original key and found a spare key about a month ago so now I’m trying to make money to start piecing together this build. I haven’t touched this car in a couple years unfortunately. I’m glad I found your channel at the right time!

    @@isaiahhernandez8160 hahaha how did it feel when you blew it? I have to one day lol, Im glad you're working on that platform because there aren't many MR2s around anymore so when you get the car running wherever you pull up with the MR2 people always look.

    How are you keeping the crank from rotating?

  • @richinstyle3310
    @richinstyle33105 ай бұрын

    I still have the stock flywheel on so I put some long studs through the flywheel outer holes to prevent the crank from moving

  • @dtbreally2735
    @dtbreally27355 ай бұрын

    So when you had engine apart you had it already at tdc So crank was at tdc. So when you were aligning cams by rotating them with no chain yet doesn’t damage valves ?

  • @njekshun
    @njekshun5 ай бұрын

    When i did mine, i made sure the pistons are all in the middle and not tdc, that way when u rotate the gears the valve dont hit the pistons

    the coolant plug? I used a hex socket with the extension and used a bigger tube on the ratchet for more leverage, I don't remember the exact size of it but I think it was a 12mm or 14mm
