Eleve Handmade

Welcome to my channel! My name is Sarah and in 2021, my daughter and I started a handmade business... accidentally. Over our summer break, we went to a craft store looking for something to occupy our time. While there, we found some soap making supplies and decided to give it a whirl.

On this channel we talk about melt and pour soap making, cold process soap making, soap tutorials, handmade business tips + tricks, vendor markets, studio vlogs and so much more. We hope you find value here and are happy to have you as a part of our community!

    The cold processed soap notes on SIMBI is a lifesaver! I wish ALL fragrance oil companies had a chart such as that one. It is frustrating that some of the top fragrance oil companies *don't* offer much information on cold processed soap notes. One would assume if they are selling it for soap, it has been tested for soap so there shouldn't be a problem adding notes.

  • @EleveHandmade
    @EleveHandmade13 күн бұрын

    I definitely agree.. I have noticed more and more suppliers adding soaping notes, so I hope that trend keeps up! I know I am working on soaping notes for one supplier in particular 😃😇!

    While I understand melt and pour is basically buying soap to make soap, your daughter's safety is important so M&P is a great option for you both. It's fabulous that you two make soap together, partly because it's a great mother-daughter activity, but also because you are teaching her about being an entrepreneur and being her own boss! I'm sure it's also helping teach her some independence and confidence as well. Love all of that! And as for buying soap to make soap, there's still a lot of customizing that can make them unique, be a great product, and make lots of customers happy. Best wishes and much success to you both.

    Can you also make a video or 2 about melt and pour soap making. I literally just got done binge watching ur videos; thank you so much for going into details. I also have 2 questions. 1st. Are you able to use your own essential oils thats homemade (from scratch) instead of buying some? 2nd. Hearing about the rose, cucumber n lavender water can any fruit, herb, or vegetable also work? Like guava water, lemon water. Thx again for making these videos

    I’m confused why would one use lye if it’s so toxic on the skin. I’m sure the toxicity doesn’t change.

  • @EleveHandmade
    @EleveHandmade26 күн бұрын

    Hey, great thought! When the oil and lye combine, it goes through a process called saponification and the lye evaporates, making it skin safe!

  • @samihage1223

    When you mix it with the right amount of water and oil, then they turn to glycerin, but if someone added over the right amount of lye needed it will remain in the mixture

    Just stopped by your videos talking about why you prefer hot process and found this one. It turned out really nice! I loved it. Only advice is trying to add your lye solution to your oils and not the opposite, because the way you chose to do in this video increases the risk of lye splash or weird lye chemical reactions.
