I know this video is from a while ago I have a 4 month old Akita German shepherd chow chow mix and he screams at me sound just like a human child when he wants my attention I can't help but laugh so do visitors when they come over and he is so cute
100% akita play, paws, rolling over, ankle nibbling, vocalization. Our pair are twice as tactile as shown here- truly affectionate, yet still a little spiky. Real personalities.

This could go from 0 to 300 in a second... They are extremely powerful and and quick . So looks like they were raised with love and understanding!! Wolf-like, They are also highly intelligent. And realize the need for each other.
Most amazing dog breed in the world... They rarely show their teeth like that. And never to humans , only to their own kind. They are highly competitive, since they are basically wolves. So the social hierarchy and need to be dominant is strong in them. Don't take your Akita to A dog park, they will instinctively exert their dominant nature and strength on anything.

Tomo looks to be about 6 or 7, which would make Shima about 3 or 4.... but they'd always played this way in the house.

Great videos, terrible music! lol Nice to see Moose grow up, have been a follower for years now. My Akita is nearly 4, I know everyone says this about their breed, but Akitas are not like normal dogs. My family had dogs all their life all working breed, Great Dane, to GSD, still are very wary of Sasha, my Akita. They are a pain tro train, but very intelligent, you know what I mean. lol
LOL... yeah, I know what you mean about the music, but if I don't play that then everyone will be listening to my spouse gossip with their friends while the pups play... I know what you mean about Akitas. They are truly special and we miss Tomo and Shima terribly, which is why we wanted to stay with a Spitz dog with similar temperment and large personality. Moose isn't an Akita but he's a wonderful character, which makes him a treasure in our home.

@@BadlndsBob They are a very special breed. I've never had a bond with any dog breed like I have with them. I have often said they have the intelligence of at least a 4 year old child. Loving, protective, and very honorable!

@@vlat18 They really aren't hard to own. They do blow their coat 2 times a year, so lots of brushing. The MOST IMPORTANT thing to remember is to be the Alpha of the pack. If you're a timid person, an Akita will be YOUR boss.

I was really thinking of getting an AKITA, so beautiful, loyal and protective... BUT!, I saw all the hair coming off these dogs... I could not take it! Have to find another dog for my home.. (:<)

Beautiful dogs! I have a Red/White Husky mother and her Black/White Husky daughter. Everyone we meet says those are the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen. And I agree. But, American Akita's are gorgeous. Watch the movie Hatchi. It is amazing and sad!

My make and female play this way whenever I get on phone or after company comes over and they are not given the attention they Think they deserve. Then after they play I vacuum the lost hair:) I wouldn’t have it any other way!!

My puppy is 9 months old and is a bit shy towards other dogs. She sees dogs at the dog park and walks. Do you think a class like this will help her? Is she too old?
Hi Grunk! First, you have to keep in mind that every dog is different. They don't all want to run and play. Some are perfectly happy just hangin' with their humans and aren't all that interested in other dogs, which is fine. The reason for socialization is to ensure that they won't become afraid of new dogs or new situations and become aggressive as a result. 9 months is a little old for formal puppy socialization classes (which usually run from 2-6 months of age or so) but there are other ways. If you encounter relaxed dogs (usually older) on your walks and the owner says they are friendly, encourage your pup to greet them.... just nose-to-nose to say hello.... if she gains some confidence and wants to romp around, great. If not, that's fine too. As long as she develops confidence and learns not to be AFRAID of other dogs. If she her body language indicates that she's REALLY scared, maybe talk to a professional dog trainer. If she's just not interested, that's ok. Don't force it. ... but socialization isn't just about other dogs. It's for exposing your pup to new things and new places... near crowds of people (if you can find any), busy streets, shopping areas... show them automatic doors and elevators and buses and big trucks. Take her for a car ride to somewhere she's never been. Challenge her to experience new and different things regularly so that she doesn't become afraid of new things. Most importantly, if she does react with fear DO NOT coddle her. Don't pick her up and snuggle her or give her a treat when she is fearful or you'll be rewarding that behaviour and she'll repeat it. Just stay calm and let her deal with it or if she's really upset move away slowly, but don't punish her or reward her for her response. Just treat it like a perfectly normal thing and hopefully she'll learn to do the same. She's your pup. She'll learn from you. I hope all that helps. I'm not a professional dog trainer so don't assume I'm right about everything. Thanks for visiting the site!
