Sarah Loves Japan

Curious about life in Japan? Me too!
My name is Sarah and I create educational videos about Japanese culture, geography, language, lifestyle, food, and anything else I find intriguing about the country. I create these videos in order to expand my knowledge of Japan in a way that is memorable for myself and hopefully for you too!

Hi Sarah, great video and thanks for making it! I found it through a recommendation from Prof. Arguelles :D Do you think a phrase book would be good enough as a starter?

It’s the wage that really sucks when USDJPY is 157 yen to the dollar. You don’t even make $2000 usd clear. How are JETs supposed to pay off their student loans with wages that pay less than a high school drop out makes working at McDonalds in California for $20 or ¥3140 an hour?

I just came across your video just now. I am an old Alumni from UNT and graduated back in the 90s. My experience and education at UNT has afforded me opportunities that have led to global responsibilities across Europe, Middle East, Asia, and South America. Currently, I am a global head with plants in Europe and America. Best of luck in your endeavors.

The method doesn’t seem so fun so I think I’ll skip it for something else. I can see the appeal though. I like trying out new things. This weeks new idea is sentence of the day. I’m picking a sentence out of my grammar book (I need better grammar skills) and using that. I’m studying Korean.

I'll leave a complete random comment 2 years after this video was made just to say you have helped me so much with presentations, you wouldn't believe. As a foreigner student in Japan I've found myself needing the help from these series way more often then I'd wish. Because I fucking hate creating slides, doing presentations and searching about stuff online. You have my eternal gratitude.

I'm an ALT in Tokyo. I hope you are able to go, as you seem to have such a love and passion for Japan. Ganbatte and good luck on your degree. Japan is just now reopening and will need lots of replacement ALTs for all the people that left before/during the pandemic, so hopefully you will have great timing.

Hi! i was just wondering, after your JET course are you able to continue living and working as an ALT in japan. Sorry if its a silly question, i myself have also been wishing to apply so im just curious as to if it is strictly a 3 year course and thats it. Thank you and i hope you're enjoying it!

  • @pamelajohnson5859

@@usagi141 I believe for JET if you school and contracting organization are impressed with you, they may invite you to recontract up to 5 years. 1-3 years is just the most typical and common. As for looking for a job after JET to stay in Japan, you have to research the visa types and rules on how to obtain them. I seem to remember for usa there was an issue where you had to fly back to the usa in order to change visa types, but I am not certain on that.
