Saw him in 2003 at Summerfest Milwaukee and it still holds as one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I've seen a few.... :)

This is "country blues" at its finest. Really evokes those feelings of fear and uncertainty in an unsteady relationship. I r8 9.9/10 (I rarely give out tens). Also, John Hiatt is a national treasure.

I just happened to hear this song today and it really touched me. It's got such a sad & beautiful story in it, about a man who's going to a hotel to meet his chick, but he happens to pass two strangers who used to be a couple and are fighting because they have fallen out of love. Seeing that couple haunts the man because he isn't sure if his chick loves him anymore either, and gets afraid that his relationship is doomed too. John Hiatt is amazing. Have an awesome day <3

Among the diverse tapestry of American culture and nationalities, John Hiatt has carved out a niche that he totally owns. His music is not only exquisitely beautiful but uniquely Americana. Keep walking Johnny.

I bought a sample CD with various artists, and on it Hiatt gave a short interview and played an acoustic version of his new song. Then the interviewer asked “So, what are you going to call it?” It was this song, of course, and I must have played that CD hundreds of times, just so I could hear “Walk On”.

If you count your life in broken hearts, triumphs, loves and losses ...... John Hiatt wrote your soundtrack - whether you know it or not. And the more of us who know him thru his heartbreakingly beautiful lyrics are closer to God because of it. Spread the Gospel of Hiatt everywhere.

Hiatt is criminally overlooked. More people deserve to hear his work. It's a shame that he's unknown to so many.

Someone called out to you And it sounded just like crying On a street where nobody Even knows your name Your mind was getting high on the sweet air As your spirit was flying Steam rising from the sidewalks Of New Orleans after an evening rain Steam rising from the sidewalks After an evening rain And it only made the heat Feel like it was walking even closer As you headed up St. Charles To catch a streetcar named Desire Young couple struggling in the doorway Like he was trying to force her In the distance you swore You could hear them open fire Tires squealing in the distance As you heard them open fire Walk on, walk on Don't look back Don't ask questions Don't you try to understand Walk on, walk on Straight back down to your hotel room Where she lies waiting for her man You're so afraid you might be losing love That is makes you worry And you wonder if she's ever seen this Kind of fear in you And you think of that young couple In the doorway And it makes you hurry You wonder what kind of fear They might be living through Yeah you wonder if They saw that fear in you Walk on, walk on Don't look back Don't ask questions Don't you try to understand Walk on, walk on Straight back down to your hotel room Where she lies waiting for her man

[Lyrics] Well is it such a sin to linger with the magazines I want a chocolate bar made with something sweet I want a stranger with your face So I followed her to this place It's been so long - I've been around the world I say hello to Howie, say hello to Spike 'cause the canals in Camden are filled with bottles tonight To watch the ripples fade away To feel the rain upon my head So I could say, I've been around the world And how I wish I was in your apartment tonight To hear the rain come down, down upon your roof To see your clothes beside, clothes beside your bed To lightly listen to your breath Instead, I've been, I've been around the world And how I wish I was in your bed tonight To taste the salt upon, salt upon your neck To feel your body press, pressing down on me Instead of being, I've been around the world Yeah I've been around, I've been around the world Yeah I've been around, I've been around the world

John Hiatt is the Dean Koontz of music. He is a wordsmith, an writer, and Musician. His songs have a depth to them, as deep as the Mariana Trench. I have seen him twice in Bellingham Wash, and both times he was remarkable. Thank you
