National Association of Plant Breeders
Plant Breeding and Genomics strives to connect the plant breeding community to rapidly developing advances in technology and publically available genomic data. Many of our tutorials demonstrate computational tools using sample data, allowing learners to replicate the demonstration and gain proficiency. This Channel is managed by the National Association of Plant Breeders. For more information, visit our website at www.plantbreeding.org.

Iv gathered these from my crop people are telling me not to plant them. Once I pick out seeds and dispose of everything else I dry out seeds and I'm good to go Right
great presentation for candidates
Minimum population required for augmented block design in vegetable science
Im totally confused. First you have"u" in the equation, then you say it Beta, then "u" is actually "g", which is next to "X", but in fact this "X" is actually "Z", the random effects. uhm.
terrible sound..
So informative webinar. Learned a lot from all the speakers.
Love these thanks for sharing!
Is there a way to get the R Script from this video?
Can you share bash or R or python script for genomic variant format (GT) conversion from 0/0, 0/1, 1/1, ./. to 0, 1, 2, and NA, from 0, 1, 2, NA to letters/nucleotide bases (diploid form: AA, CC, GG, TT) or directly from 0/0, 0/1, 1/1, ./. to letters/nucleotide bases (diploid form) and vice versa, please. I think these are the backbone for any downstream data analysis, and I am also facing many problems related to those.
👍I live quinoa. Thank you.
Looking at the cimate map of Mexico and the US, it may also be that corn spreading to the north of US could have been hindered by the climatic conditions in the north of Mexico and south of US, acting as an ecological barrier.
If possible may I have a link to script and .csv file again please?
I believe the next paradigm shift in plant breeding will be into EPIgenetics and new methods of horizontal trait transfer, with a better understanding of how environment plays a role in heritable genetics and potential means of traits transferred from unrelated species.
Concern yourself with science, not with toxic social engineering programmes.
informational and easy to understand. thank you so much.
Well organized but video is of poor quality
Hey, the quality of the video is not good at all!
I am a student of agriculture now I am going to select plant breeding genetics department it's my Right decision
Hello !
Great information❤❤❤ Thank you Dr. Jessica Rutkosk for sharing🎉🎉
Gene editing and apomixis is quite fascinating!
Need to get acquanted with Q_gene for modelling selection with F2 populations who should >I cobntact to work with
Provide pdf sir
I would like the definition of art to be expanded in terms of application of skill.
Very interesting !!!!
but this anova of P.BIB indicates that the design structure contributes significantly to the overall variability, and you should be cautious when interpreting the treatment (genotype) differences, as some observed variability may be influenced by the design itself. Right? i do not undestand how it tells me genetic matters?
very useful
I tend to do generation mean analysis in the R programming application, but I don't know how to do it. Could you possibly guide me how to find a relevant package? I am looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely
Why do you keep spinning the chair around while giving your speech? It seems like you're not paying attention and being unprofessional.
Hi gusy, does anybody can explain how to loop "cycle" in 1 to 8 without any argument of "cycle" in the Chunk 3 of markdown file "5_RapidCycle.rmd" ? Since she didn't use "cycle" in the for loop, I really don't understand how it works.
I guess, you've already figured it out by yourself. Still, I'll leave a reply for someone who might have some confusion. The answer is that, actually "cycle" variable doesn't matter here at all. She used that "cycle" variable just to complete that "FOR loop" syntax. Her main intension was to repeat those 3 lines code within that FOR LOOP for 8 times. This way she eventually updated the F2 population by 8 times. That "selectInd()" function has no use of the "cycle" variable. In R programming, you can call that "cycle" as a dummy or placeholder.
is it possible to get the Rscripts for exercise? thank you
Hi It's really useful workshop video. Can you please share scripts used in this simulation? Thanks
This is an excellent video, thanks to all who help put it together! Thanks
How can we extract the covariance matrix of traits using DeltaGen?
Hello sir
very good presentations and discussions
hi, is there a reference list?
This is very useful. I hope to run a simulation on cover crops mixtures
Very interesting and informative. Thank you.
thank you very much l take something
There's a mass of sea weed off Western Australia, that has been kicking around for a looong time, and is known to be polypoloidal. Maybe the lessons investigators got from studying this world's "largest living" organism (as of 2021ce) could help with potato breeding. Australia is the ideal place for potato-breeding programs. Vast diversity of climates and enviroments, and as a land girt by sea has the World's strictest biosecurity measures (2nd only to New Zealand), so would be much harder for diseases to randomly spread from international crops and contaminate the program crops. CRISPR technology might have progressed enough for designer potato. Alter a seed potato, and use it to propogate more seed potatoes before distribution to commercial farmers.
Wonderful presentation. I'm having a trouble maybe you could help me. When I run the code I get this error message: "Perform numericalization" Error in ifelse(x == lev[lev != inter][1], 0, ifelse(x == inter, 1, 2)) : object 'inter' not found. I try many ways but I could not find a solution.
Major problems in potato breeding
Dear Dr. Heather, thank you for this detailed presentation. I tried to download the sample data so as to run the R script but the data is no longer accessible. Kindly, assist me with a copy. Thank you.
I have found seed apples on my potato plants 🪴!! I think to grow potato seedlings next year!! What should I do whit the seed apples?? Can you tell me, give me a advice about what I should do??
Did you harvest the potato berries, and have you planted the seeds?! Love to know the results
It is very useful for the beginners
Pleas make data files available for download
Data file are not opening from the webpage.
How was the audio recorded on this? It doesn't sound very good... it almost sounds like an edited video call?
