Hello & thank you for these videos. I noticed you use 2 filters . I have exact set up but with 2 goldfish (4 & 5 yrs old) Is it better using two? Thank you again..👋

I dont get it. I have this one and the water flow sound drives me crazy even with the water at level. I had to remove the top as it rattled away.

Not trying to flood yr comment section but I am kinda at a lost on trying to figure out what type of trim and size to add.Ive built a 75 gallon stand and I have a 3/4" sanded birch plywood on top

nice looking stand ..you mentioned when installing the trim to have a little bit high so that the tank wouldn't actually sit on it,and create to much pressure.By doing that will the actually trim around the tank affect the trim around the top of the plywood?I hope I made sense.

I know it's been a while since posted but you also add a pipe to the first 2 chambers which allows unrestricted flow to the lower levels. That way when you start to see a chamber flowing through that pipe you know it's time to change the filter floss 😁

Omg I think ots any sand. My first time using carobsea moonlight sand and its a mess. Algea everywhere hard to keep clean and i do not want to keep cleaning it every 2 days which I ha e been. You can see everything. My auto gravel cleaner does great but when it cleans and filters it it goes everywhere and gets all over my bubbler. Its just very messy. Now I think i have to re do it. Not sure what the difference is between yours and crystal river. Tjats now my only question!

Throw those bio wheels away. The filter is huge and hold plenty of bacteria. Just use an inch thick medium course sponge so you don’t have to clean it every 3 days

Once water is in the tank all that stuff flattens out. Its not necessary to do all that sanding. They dont sand the stands u buy at walmart and put together at home.

I just tried this with my medical infrared thermometer and set it to surface temperature and it matched my heaters built in temperature so I know it works, I need this for water changes so I can match the new water temperature, I was using a glass one but it broke so was searching for unbreakable options, this is miles better instant results and I already have one in my cupboard,

The only issue i see with your stand design is that it has an open bottom. If you have a bottom on it and killz it very heavily and then add a thick layer of latex paint it makes it water tight. So if you have a leak or an over flow situation it will contain the water in the stand and give you a chance to catch it before it floods your house. Also if you sand a small grove all the way around the tanks perimeter then drill a hole in the back in the middle of the groove. Then add a piece of tubing that runs to the sump. That way if the tank begins to leak it will just drain right back into the system. It will again give you time before flooding your home.

I had my daughter time me and i did this same test with 32oz large wonton soup container. Aqueon quietflow 30 hang on filter was 10 seconds with no media. The topfin pro 30 was 8 and the 50 was 5.sumthing close to 6 no media. I nvr finished the math but feel free to do it, i was just trying to see who has the faster turn over. With media fully loaded the aueon shot up to 14 seconds and top fin wemt to 9 seconds. I always suspected they werent pulling their advertised weight. My 55 gal tank i had to use two aqueon 20s and 1 aqueon 30 quiet flows so i had 70 gals worth of fileter for 55 gal.tank and that seemed to just get by.... I love the topfin pro and the transparecy but odlly enough i introuduced carbon to my tank with this filter and i think the phostphates from the csrbon enabled distoms (brown dusty algea) to start growing. Nvr had a prob with cartiges with aqueon quiet flow tho. You could rinse the cartiges and then good as new. Whoops quick edit. The top fin pro has a built in skimmer which is pretty cool but is mor eof a gimmick. I didnt plug it and test the topfin filter.... so basically im loosing suction by having that skimmer outlet open. Thus the topfin may increase in speed. Is already superior as it is. I dont have surface trash in my tank so no skimmers are necesseray. They barely pull any water i tested with small napkin pieces. The grooves are too think to let anything thru anyways. Is def a gimmick. If you get top fin pro. Just plug your skimmer. If you have sand. Stuff the suction thing at the bottom (where you put the balck sponge) take it out and on the inside put the wite cotton filter rolled up and the black sponge on the outside so the snad doesnt break or damage your impeller. I tried putting some filter cotton my the impeller outlet which can be done but the pump wasnt able to scuk up water and it was hindering mobility. So definetly do w.e upgrade u want to the suction snout. Watever is called 😂 and stay away from carbon! Read up on it and see how it works. Dont use activated carbon cuz everyone has it in their filter, it can be more detrimental to you than you think

Love the fish and the negative space in the tank. I dont see any corys. Are there any in there? Im a cory freak. Ive had praecox rainbows before in my 55g, but my next project is a 250g nano fish tank. Perhaps some threadfin rainbows in there as well, but ive heard they should really be kept in a species only tank, so ive got some thinking to do

I built an 80-20 canopy. 80% of it opens up with a hinge at the front when I lift it up and the other 20% at the back is the support for it all. I don't need to remove my whole canopy when I'm doing changes or gravel cleanings.
