  The other issue with trolleybuses (and biofuel buses) is the lack of love the developers gave them after their respective DLCs were released. Some of the bus types introduced in the Vehicles of the World CCP could translate to trolleybuses, and do IRL. There are some articulated and bi-articulated trolleybuses in service across the world. I’m not sure if there are any trolley minibuses or double-decker trolleybuses, though if there are, those could’ve been added.

  Intercity trains irritate me, we have to pay for iinfrasturcture with problematic returns on investments. They can be required to get truck and car traffic of roads, but still irritating.

  I like subways as an option, but I use the 81 tile Mod, and there is a known glitch. The Mod dinks with underground metro infrastructure, the only solution appears to be to delete the track or station that has been sunken and re build. Irritating.

  Why does you city sound like a freaking warzone!?!? See this is why you don't use trolley buses! You introduce one trolley bus and next minute the citizens are all kicking off, there's blood on the streets, and its just an absolute riot out there!

  Nice compare, but I'm finding I'm having difficulty setting up the routing for the helicopter. Do you have or can you make a tutorial on the set up?

  Nothing yet, but I might make one. For now, here are a few pointers: 1) Make sure you have a helicopter depot and at least 2 stops. 2) Make sure you’ve created helicopter paths (they’re separate from the routes, and they determine where helicopters are allowed to go). Importantly, these need to connect your stops with each other and with the depot. 3) Once you’ve placed down the paths, you should be able to create lines just like you would with any other form of transit. Hopefully this helps, but I’ be glad to help if you’re still struggling. -Pretzel

  @@PretzelRoad Thanks for the fast response. I did all you recommended with no luck. The strange thing is I did the exact same thing with the blimps and they are working just fine. After I get all the paths down, I start on the lines, I can click on the first location to start it, but I can’t get any of the other locations to accept the next stop. I think their might be a glitch. Have you heard of anyone else having this issue? Wizzarin.

  I live in San Francisco and realistically T buses make sense for clean air and lower cost than trams (we have both in SF). For Cities Skylines they just look cool.

  This was always a thought I had. Unless the city is absolutely massive, train lines make no sense. Metros are just soo much cheaper and more versatile.

  I start using trains starting from city pop ~50k and they were useful. That is sad that 1 train can carry only 240 passengers.

  @@chatlanin4135 I use mods that I can cutomize vehicle capacity and costs. So if I double the capacity of a bus, I'll had 50% to operating cost. I don't make 1,00 passenger buses, I try to keep it reasonable. The vanila 30 limit on buses, for example, is ludicrously low, particularly with the demand created by the sims.

  They really serve only an aesthetic, as they operate nearly in behavior similar to the bus. However, against the behest of overhead wire haters, I like the spiderweb mess. Not only do I wish there was more love for trolleybuses in the workshop but I also wish the game delved on their real world benefits such as being substantially cleaner and even quieter than diesel buses.

  I can say that there is plenty of stuff on workshop for trolleybuses. Troleybuses (old and new models), roads ( even tho some are a bit bugy) and some mods like working trailers with poles. In my city they are main public transport option, served by large capacity units. Then there are trams, buses monorails and other stuff.

  Now in a real city. :) San Francisco has all of them: bus, trolley bus, tram, metro, commuter rail and cable cars. It generates its own electricity so trolley buses and trams are cheaper to run. Streets with trams and trolley buses can (and do) use the same catenary (overhead wires). And trolley buses can drive up walls. I mean they don't even slow down on hills. But back to the game... have fun.

  In my city there are also all of them: bus, trolley bus, tram, tramtrain, regional and intercity train (25k V, 50 Hz), suburban train (1000 V DC), metro (or subway, 825 V DC), cog rail (1500 V DC), children's railway (760 mm gauge), cable car (funicular and chairlift too).

  Not really, I actually still have a couple of Skylines video ideas to make. I’ve just found that it’s easier to create an engaging video in Polytopia, with all of my Skylines ideas being substantially more difficult. I do plan on returning to Skylines, though (although not for let’s plays anymore).

  If you really want to add character to your city, use cable cars instead of trolleys or trams. All the advantages of trolleys, no street traffic, no waiting and capacity greater than trams because the gondolas arrive at the stations so frequently. Give your city's public transportation a futuristic look: use cable cars as feeder lines to connect to a monorail backbone.

  A point I feel should be made. You can isolate trolley bus lines and keep them independent of your other roads. And then you can create a two point system, with a direct go-between. You can move a lot of workers between residential areas and industrial areas this way. To keep your trolley bus lines separated from your other roads, build bridges, or construct elevated skyways. When done properly, there is zero traffic on these lines, save for the buses. The primary advantage to this is that it is fast and cheap.
