  I don't say it often, but someone finally have made very good instrument. I am very happy with the quality of design, build and included sounds. This instrument is so simple, does what it's supposed to do and looks 2 times more expensive. I know that I can't have everything, especially in this size and weight, but if only keys were more similar to digital piano, than the word "perfection" could be used :)

  If you want cheap portability for open jams and other meaningless gigs, then this Casio is exactly what I would recommend. I've compared it to the Yamaha MX61 and I like the variety of sounds from the Casio better! The key is to layer two sounds. Then you can come up with something for just about any song. The Yamaha has a little bit higher fidelity sound, BUT for live performances, it doesn't matter. Trust me. Nobody can hear the slight difference over all of the other instruments. Enjoy saving about $400. The Casio is also smaller than the Yamaha. You can carry it around like a book. Less than 11 pounds, even with the two speakers.

  Hello Casio, it's June 7, 2024. This Privia PX-5S is such an awesome board. It's absolutely insane how close it came to being one of the most perfectly designed boards along with the editing software. Was just wondering if you guys at Casio would please consider doing an updated remake of this board! The sounds could use an update due to the plethora of sounds available in today's available market. An aftertouch keybed would be a plus just as M Audio did with their White Axiom Pro midi keyboards years ago. If M Audio could pull it off with that little after touch strip they used in those boards im almost sure Casio can do it also. 9 sliders instead of six and maybe 9 knobs, all with full midi integration. Perhaps 9 buttons with midi integration as well. An upgraded LCD screen doesnt have to be anything super fancy and expensive, just a slight upgrade. The knobs, sliders and volume knob could have better markers so that their position is easily noticeable while performing with the board. Basically just clean up the Piano and Ep sound patches and add some better quality strings and pads, and synth stuff. I've included a link to a guy by the name of Levi King which breaks down a few things that could make this board the best board ever for many musicians world wide on a budget. That 256 polyphony is a true banger in this board. We love the ability to switch between certain patches and the sound doesn't cut out. Im telling you, I absolutely love my PX-5S and i would purchase an upgraded version of this board without hesitation as long as you guys add a few things without taking away the things that make it so great already. Many of us appreciate the light weight of the board also. I dont believe a little more weight due to added features and a little steeper price would bother us that love this board already one bit. I believe an upgraded version of this board would be an absolute top seller for Casio. Casio, please check out the video link I've included by Levi king.   If anybody is still monitoring this video, how do you enter/modify the name of a phrase you've recorded? The User's Guide (Basics) that came with the unit sends me back and forth between pages E-11 & E-10 in an endless loop. On E-11 the enigmatic qualifying phrase "If the data lets you change its number or data name..." appears, and I have to assume it's possible to change a new phrase's name from "Untitled" to something else, but nothing I've tried brings up the character display on E-10. So, how do you enter/modify a new phrase's name? Many thanks in advance!

  I think the problem with this keyboard is the tone memory. Of you use the tone number 5 and next tone number 45 You need you turn the wheel to go into that number. Not good for the stage performance

  Sometimes,a person shows that they are so far ahead of the Curve in a subject, we question why we bother! This is one of those times. I could hardly get a decent sound from 2..yes I bought one twice..but simply couldn't get my head around the complexity of the machine and gave up and bought a Roland FA-08 instead which was so much more intuitive..it's a shame I couldn't be patient enough to achieve a 1000th of what this remarkable keyboard was capable of.Mike Martin, you are undoubtedly, a Genius and your sound design capabilities are astonishing..but therein lies the problem for me .if I lived a 1000 years I would never have this level of design-competancy..I should have realised that before i bought the second one!! Shame..but true.

  Thanks for these videos Mike, they've really helped me understand what's possible. Can I ask, why do you need to change the amp release as well as the filter release to extend the note when you release the key? It it necessary to do both? Thanks
