Yall seem great. I just wish you had a little more respect for the video youre watching. The video and version of that song gave hope to some very desperate people. Its so deflating to watch how funny it is to you. Some people needed that darkness to feel like they have a voice. When you laugh. They will run back the the darkness because its all they know and its what people show them

You should absolutely know who Klaus Nomi is!!! Youre wrong to laugh at him. He was hugely important in avant-garde culture between the 70s and 80s. The song itself is a classic from 1966 by Lou Christie. its actually kind of sexist and very dated so kudos to Nomi for mocking it.

There is a time jumble going on. His girlfriend (the pretty girl) has died, probably during the bank robbery. He is feeling sad and alone and is trying to drown his sadness in partying, alcohol, drugs and women. A few times, he is imaging his girlfriend by his side and wishes she was there. And in the end, he chooses to die rather than live without her.

If you looked at the dance the dad did, it clumsily followed the kids lead. It was the son's fantasy about his dad being around. He pushed the car, pretending his dad came home from work, like all the other dads. He was eventually tired, leaning against the car, and then gave up. The father/son dancing dressed in yellow: there you see a father pushing his son to mould him to be like him. Part of the dance expresses the son being beaten and shouted at by his dad. And still the boy with the absent father sees a father being there, as that other stuff doesn't happen.

A little late coming across this video. I recently came to learn about Klaus all these years later. He died in 1983 when i was only 12. I don’t remember him then, but this kind of music was ahead of its time. I suggest you listen to his song - Simple Man. It is an original that was written for him to sing. It is a song that is upbeat and got stuck in my head so many times now. Enjoy!

Damn, harsh reaction. Maybe stick to Taylor Swift music? It's a very artistic video. Very weird and crazy, but cool. I'm American and not into rap or techno music but I love this song! Regular people who didn't understand the meaning of the video. In the video, a girl and a guy robbed a bank. But the girl died. The guy didn't enjoy the money. He was sad for his girlfriend, who died. The point of the video is that happiness is not in money. Take care of yourself and your loved ones, loved ones.

the amount of reactions i see where people say he killed her, or he hates her, or anything other than that he is drowning his sorrows in hookers, booze and blow because he lost her is astounding. the background imagery, the short clips of the car, bank robbery, one of the robbers getting shot, the robber dragging the shot robber out, the clip of the two robbers driving and one of them is covered in blood and in obvious pain, if people spend even 2 seconds thinking about it they would realize what it means
