Welcome to Isaan Flicks, the channel about Isaan.
My name is Bob, an Englishman embracing the charms of Isaan while living a simple life in Warin Chamrap, Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand while maintaining an air of classic English grumpiness.
Do not expect sunshine and rainbows here, just a grumpy Brit navigating the quirks of life in Thailand, lost in the rice fields of Isaan, perpetually puzzled by Thai customs.
Hoping sarcasm is a universal language and sharing snippets of expat life from a perplexed Englishman.
If you are looking for a place to learn about Isaan's history, culture and anything else associated with Isaan or Thailand, look no further!
Finally, please share our videos, like or dislike them, make comments but more importantly, subscribe to the channel to make an old man happy.

Thank you too Pierremuller, it was my pleasure. 🙏🙏🙏
I find it quite hilarious how there are more Tai-Kradai population in Thailand but they have contributed very little to the Thai society as a whole. I mean you can argue they influenced Thai culture with cuisines and language but this is just soft power. The country of Thailans still belongs and control by the Central Royal Siamese people whom are Mon-Khmer descendants. They still speak the old Ayutthaya (Monic-Khmeric) language 😂. The Khmer and Chinese are the two most dynamic people that shaped what is today's Thailand from the past to present. From the great centralize Imperial Angkor empire to the Chinese community business empire of Bangkok.
It seems like you're making some sweeping generalizations about the contributions of different ethnic groups to Thai society. While it's true that the Tai-Kradai population might not have had as prominent a role in certain aspects of Thai society as the Mon-Khmer descendants or the Chinese, it's inaccurate to suggest they've contributed "very little." Thai cuisine and language, which you mentioned, are significant cultural elements that have had a profound impact not just within Thailand but globally as well. Additionally, attributing the entirety of Thai history and culture to the Mon-Khmer and Chinese populations overlooks the rich diversity of influences that have shaped Thailand over the centuries, including those from other ethnic groups and regions. Thailand's history is a complex tapestry woven from the contributions of many different peoples and cultures. 🙏🙏🙏
@@IsaanFlicksThailand Thailand will remain poor because of the overwhelming population of the Tai people have a cultural habit of loving to drink, party, and having fun everyday. It's true.
imperialkhmer6146, it is important to approach discussions about cultures and societies with a balanced perspective and avoid generalizations. While it's true that enjoying social activities is a part of Thai culture, this is not unique to the Tai people or Thailand. Many cultures around the world value socializing, celebrating, and having fun. Moreover, attributing a country's economic status solely to cultural habits oversimplifies the complex factors that influence a nation's economy. Thailand has a diverse economy with significant contributions from sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism. The country's economic challenges and successes are influenced by a multitude of factors, including government policies, global economic conditions, and historical context. It's essential to recognize the strengths and contributions of the Thai people in various fields and appreciate the cultural richness they bring to the world. 🙏🙏🙏
Music of smile 😊❤
I agree! 🙏🙏🙏
With singhaa 🇹🇭😍
Even with a Leo or a Chang!🍺🍻🙏
Blamed the frenchie with their coloniel empire expansion that divided northeastetn part of Thailand right alone Magkon rivers b/w Laos and Isaan. It was stolen land.
I agree with most of your comments; however, all land is stolen land; some lands have been robbed several times. History is complex and even more so as human beings are always involved. Whenever people or tribes are involved, there will always be differences of opinion. We all should try and learn from history, unfortunately, the human race never does and never will as it is being made even more difficult currently with all the false information circling on social media coupled with today’s education systems which appear to only indoctrinate personal opinions more than they educate. 🙏🙏🙏
@@IsaanFlicksThailand Agreed! Have a good one mate

Hopefully, you shall return one day, as 17 years is a long time to have been in Thailand and must now be in your DNA.🙏🙏🙏 J'espère que vous reviendrez un jour, car 17 ans, c'est long pour avoir été en Thaïlande et cela doit maintenant être dans votre DNA🙏🙏🙏
Helpful overview. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing, love Isan 😍
Thanks for watching! 🙏🙏🙏
Isaan was actually Laos 🇱🇦
Isaan was not actually Laos, but I understand what you mean, and thank you for watching and listening to the video. 🙏🙏🙏
@IsaanFlicksThailand Historically, Isan was part of the Khmer Empire before it became part of the Lan Xang Kingdom, which was centered in present-day Laos. All of the food of Isaan is actually from Laos 🇱🇦. Siam just improvised . Unfortunate that Thailand does not teach history . Thai people are not an original people, but all mixed.
Thank you for offering your viewpoint on the historical background of Isan and its culinary traditions. It's intriguing to explore the deep-rooted connections of the region to the Khmer Empire and the Lan Xang Kingdom. Undoubtedly, the cultural exchanges and influences between different areas have played a significant role in shaping the identities of communities throughout history. Your insights into the origins of Isan's cuisine originating from Laos underscore the intricate interplay of Southeast Asian cultures. While perspectives on history may vary, it's important to delve into diverse narratives and understand the intricate nature of cultural development. Embracing the contributions of various cultures enhances our appreciation of heritage and fosters mutual understanding and respect. Thank you for initiating this insightful conversation, and I eagerly anticipate further exploration of the rich history and culinary heritage of Isan and its neighbouring regions.
@IsaanFlicksThailand Thailand calls it "contributions" but technically, it was "acquisition." It's no secret that Thailand believes culturally that they are supreme in the region and look down on all others around them . Perspectives are not allowed in accurate history . Thais didn't even know where they came from until 1964.
Beautiful Thailand and its great Isaan culture...thanks for the blessings and great times...today and tomorrow again...
Thank you too!🙏🙏🙏
Enjoyed. Would put a map?
Glad you enjoyed the video Harry and perhaps I shall add maps when appropriate in future videos. 🙏🙏🙏
