is the photoshop backdrop replacement necessary for e-commerce product photos? It's not achievable with the flash? Its a pain in the ass to cut hundreds of products besides retouching all of them already

Hello my friend, Great and informative video, please I would really appreciate it if you read my comment and reply. I do cooking videos and I would like to find Sony camera lens that is able to take 4k image to a cooking pan from about a meter away to avoid the heat and the splashing oil but at the same time to be able to zoom very close to get a micro image to the ingredients. I would really appreciate your help.

Nice tutorial for people trying to learn how to edit food BUT i think you went way overboard on the edits. I understand wanting to clean things up and you absolutely should touch up food photos but food isn't perfect. The ingredients shouldn't be so clean cut. There should be visible "flaws". If you make everything perfect than the food looks like a fake plastic prop. For anything CGI related you have to mimic real life and real life has flaws and imperfections. Not shitting on the video at all. I would just pull back on the perfections.

No food photographer who is a working food photographer would ever use motor oil, nor would their stylist, unless perhaps for a stock image. Usually, the pancakes are indeed sprayed but with something like Krylon clear spray. As for the syrup . . . if you are shooting an ad for syrup, you had better be using syrup, because if anyone ever discovers the duplicity (and stupidity) . . . there will be one lawsuit after another. Standard practice for syrup is one of two things, boil it down slightly (doesn't work for light syrups), or the usual, which is transfer the syrup to a drip type dispenser bottle (better control for the pour) . . . and put it in the refrigerator for a short bit. That has been pretty much standard practice in any studio I have been in which shoots food . . . and I have been shooting food commercially for over forty years.

This is a good method DEPENDING on your client. Most clients are ethical and you will be paid your fee/expenses. On bigger jobs asking for an advance to cover expenses is usually expected by the client. If one is to use your method it must be stated both verbally and in your estimate that payment is due upon receipt of imagery. Otherwise the client will not be happy.
