In the beginning when you pointed out what routes went through Arlington, you pointed to Lee hwy (US 29) instead of I-66 like it said.

You have metro there, mostly apartment buildings, lots of new construction, lots of restaurants, lots of shopping options, the airport is right there, it’s close to DC - it’s a great place.

Bluemont is kind of random at the top choice. What's special about it compared to all the other popular neighborhoods with good restaurants and stores, etc?
Thanks for watching, and the feedback! I used the order from Niche.com's ranking. They had it as number 1 or 2 for a couple of years. I'm planning on doing a new one based on my own choices soon. Bluemont does border Glebe Rd/Ballston , so that helps on the restaurants, etc. But you are right. There is not much in Bluemont. I think Niche had it up there for schools and safety, as well as moderate real estate prices.
Capitol Hill is sketchy af. Look what neighborhoods it borders. And they're not Chevy Chase, Georgetown, or Woodly Park. Nice try...

It has gone back and forth between Arlington and Alexandria. In the early 90's Alexandria was known as a place to see live music when people wanted that then Arlington stole its lunch in the late 90s with Clarendon Ballroom and the dance club scene. Alexandria though has made a resurgence with the bougie redevelopment of the waterfront which appeals to a more highly educated transplant of recent years. Arlington has countered with bringing some of the foodie haunts such as Ambar back to its corridor and gone is the vibe from the days of Dr. Dreamo or Carpool which made it the it place for 20 somethings.

One thing to consider in the DC area is distance to services. How far are you from the grocery store or a decent hair stylist? In Maryland they don't have alcohol at the grocery store. In DC there is a Wegmans with a full service state liquor store inside. Dog daycare services. Doctors never seem to be located anywhere convenient.

Public transit commute to downtown is much better in Bethesda and Silver Spring than Virginia aside from South Arlington. My commute from Old Town using parking/public transportation was 75 minutes because you also have to walk several blocks once downtown to the office.
