I love 3 things about this video: (1) she embodies the lyrics to give her one moment in time when she is more than she thought she could be because she’s in total control of the song; (2) notice how she moves minimally so that the focus is entirely on her voice; and (3) notice how she looks upwardly surrendering to whoever is giving her that one moment in time.

You have so many covers of whitney songs on talent shows and they are litterally screaming the entire song. Whitney never screamed, she sang!!
@MichaelKnows977 күн бұрын
So did anyone else notice when she got to the climax and she’s singing “in TIIIIIME make it SHIIIIIINE” that it sounds like she’s singing in a stairwell? Reason is because it’s not a full belt and she’s literally relying on twang and resonance, absolutely brilliant lol. You notice when she hits the “destiny” notes in the chorus she pulls the mic away because those are way more chest coordinated

Girl those are called polyphonic vocals only she mastered them Whitney and twang are never in the same room 😂 She's one of the best developed chest voice

@@Swahili14I’m a guy and twang is the voices resonate effect coming off the microphone and what she’s using to achieve that “polyphonic sound”. What’s she’s doing is lessening the volume of her sound while keeping the sheer weight and intensity of it.

@@MichaelKnows97 oh yes That's it Your explanation is logical And top tier 🙌🏿👏🏿🙏🏿 But I always used to know twang=nasality Something common to Celine Dion, sohyang and most of french singers

@@Swahili14 Absolutely! Twang can be used anywhere the voice resonates, whether that be the nasal cavity or the mask
