    I’ve looked at several frames and I say there is a slight “smear” on a few of them. Not thing too bad, I honestly would have never noticed had you not mentioned it, but it’s something.

    I like the retro/modern look of the TT Artisan better (never had the fuji for real), but that vigneting get really annoying some times. Far for my main lens but it's the one on my camera, cuz it's still a very good wolk around, every day lens on a small body.

    Great vid. Good to know your results! As a Mitakon 85mm and 63mm owner these have pretty similar results. I haven't had much success adapting 35mm lenses myself with the ones over tried. But was also very please with the Minolta 58mm f1.2 myself. The lens is surprisingly warmer off the bat, and has had the least amount of vignetting to me. The Mitakon lenses also have a warmer tone as compared to modern Fuji lenses, but the Minolta is twice as warm.

  • @WoodenAxle
    @WoodenAxleАй бұрын

    I’ve heard good things about the Minolta on GFX. I had that lens and adapted it to Canon years ago. I loved it, but man was it soft. Might have just been my copy.

    Think I really need that Mitakon! Do you always shoot it wide open? And if you do stop down, do you focus wide open?

  • @WoodenAxle
    @WoodenAxleАй бұрын

    For creative work I’ll shoot wide open 99% of the time. The clickless aperture on the Mitakon makes it easy to adjust the setting on accident when changing lenses frequently, that and wanting to replicate the look of a 6x7 was why I shot everything wide open for this test. The Mitakon does some great things at 1.8-2.8f as well. Since I made this video, I opted to sell the Fuji 63mm and went with the 50mm 3.5f.

    Glad you enjoyed it! I’ve not used the GH4 or GH5, or the 100S, but based on what I’ve read about all of them the 100S should be a good option. Definitely better photos, and I bet the video would be comparable. I’d see if you can afford the 100S I’d get it.

    How would you compare it to the Fujifilm x100vi?

  • @WoodenAxle
    @WoodenAxleАй бұрын

    You know, as much as people like to compare them, I don’t think they are in the same category. If I had the money I’d own both of them. It all depends on what you’re going to use it for. If you want something that’s clinically excellent with excellent video capabilities, then it’s Fuji. If you want something that travels with you everywhere, makes images with incredible character, Ricoh all the way.

    I found that this lens on the gfx system work s so much better in 35 mm mode. You eliminate the vignetting and the images are much sharper in my honest opinion and for my experiences. If you have Mitakon 65 and you look at the mount compared to this you can see that the 85 was just fitted with the mount but was built for 35 mm in my opinion.
