What a sweet recollection. I read Robin Givhan's book on the Battle of Versailles. So exciting. The 70s is my favorite fashion era. I've read that Halston's beautiful dress at :32 was lost after the show.

Wow. Are those the original formulation of Halston's fragrance in that display case? My late aunt wore Halston back in the early 80's: I remember it as a patchouli, herbal, floral powerhouse of a perfume. Just gorgeous. Nowadays, it's been reformulated beyond recognition and smells nothing like the masterpiece that was. Boy, would I love a bottle of the original that's still wearable. I've tried buying various vintage bottles but sadly no one stored them dilligently and they turned bad.

Chris, did you ever make a Lip Quencher lipstick commercial in the early 80's? There's a uploaded commercial from that year and the model looks exactly like you.

I did an ad for Halston Rocket Red lipstick, but I'm not sure if I did an ad for Lip Quencher. I also did a lot of Halston beauty and fragrance ads during that time. We will be doing a video on Halston Lipstick and Andy Warhol soon, so stay tuned!

How did Liza get involved? Was it through Halston? And Kay Thompson, was that through Liza? (Kay is Liza's Godmother.) Or did it start with the idea for using "Bonjour Paris" which featured Kay Thompson in the movie "Funny Face"? I am curious who brought in who...

Chris, thank you so much for this. I was only a little girl in the 1970s, so a bit too young to appreciate what it must have been like when Halston reigned supreme. Nevertheless, I have always admired and adored him and like to think I keep a touch of him around (I wear his iconic 1975 Halston fragrance as my go-to signature scent and every so often, when I can afford it, I buy something of his and treasure it) Anyway, I feel genuinely privileged to be able to leave a comment for you as someone who was SO fortunate to meet and work with this epic and massively talented man. Thank you again. Best wishes from Seattle. 💛
