Did you have to remove the stabilizer (sway bar) prior to removing the drive shaft?

What'st the diameter if that bearing from the outer race to outer race? please in mm. I will like to know what bearing removal set to buy.

Great video. Another idea would be to remove the hub assembly with the axle and take that part to a near by mechanic and ask them to press it out for $20. I did it today since the axle was seized onto the hub. Question tho where do you go abouts getting one of those tools from?

I think a bit of heat would have helped tremendously and cut the slide hammer pounding down considerably! Heat is most always your best friend with stuck metal on metal:)

The video by EdzGarage shows the most simple and elegant way to do this job. Sure, you'll need some proper tools but you don't need the harmonic puller, which IMO is crude and inefficient.

you forgot to install the c clip before the hub housing lol.

fyi you don't have to mark a CV axle. YOU ONLY have to mark the drive shaft, when you disconnect them which they come apart in two and it helps to do the guibo too if you disconnect it from there but you really don't have too.

Why whould you need to mark the driveshaft? I never mark them and not a single problem

Thank you for your video. I was able to get my hub and bearing out of my 1997 328is following your video. My axle was stuck like yours. Putting the axle back in was a challenge.

Run a bead of mig around the outer race and the bearing will nearly push out.

Thanks for your kind comment. On the video we replaced the left hand rear wheel bearing, now gotta do the other side as the back plate has rusted out releasing the handbreak retaining fittings. Instead of using a slide hammer to remove the bearing I made up a draw bolt with various spacers. Good luck, hope all goes well mate.

Ps. I wouldn't listen to anything that bender (nicknackpaddywack) said underneath -obviously not a proper engineer. Shame he's called ben like me - a disgrace of the name! Keep up with the good work fella ;-)

Great video mate ! One of the best I've seen. As a west country boy myself its nice to see some proper engineers for our neck of the woods! I've ordered my two new rear bearings but after watching your video I think I'll need a decent sized slide hammer to begin the job. Cheers mate and take care ;-) ben

nice video .. i would have used a screw and some combination of pipes/ washers to get that bearing out ( the one you used the pull hammers for)
