GearAmerica

GearAmerica

We’ve always been a little different. Call it an edge, call it a quirk; so when we founded GearAmerica we went about it our own unique ways.

While most businesses start with the focus on their bottom line, our vision was to create an adventure brand that aligns with our core beliefs. A brand you will resonate with and eagerly join in, changing the world around us by helping support a great cause.

Our mission was to advocate and live a lifestyle of freedom, comradely, and respect for nature and machinery. This is why off-roading was the perfect fit.

So, if you love the off-road, join us! Get-up, gear-up & get-out to play in natural untouched open spaces. Linger at the end of the seemingly impassable trail that opens to breathtaking views. If you love to push boundaries and challenge the status quo - it would be a privilege to have you on-board and be a part of your journey.

As always, off-road smart and tread lightly!

    Method 3 and 4 are the same. In 3 if you just twist the strap thats pretzeled. It ends up lookings like #4. Trust me. I have to use sling and restraints on all the pipework I use in the oilpatch. These slings have different ratings and uses. But the splicing is all the same.

    It might look fun but apparently unless you've got a immaculate ride that you don't mind getting a little bit dirty they don't want or need you anywhere close to their place. My best friend found out first hand in his '97 Wrangler sport. They told him it wasn't old enough to ride they're trails. I'm calling BS!!!

    What about looping one thru the other and shackle both ends on the hook on truck

  • @lewy1
    @lewy13 ай бұрын

    I would only use a hard block and Crosby shackle, in my opinion the only use for soft shackles is for joining straps.

  • @lewy1
    @lewy14 ай бұрын

    I am not a fan of soft shackles with the exception of joining straps. I use Crosby bow shackles to attach to my tree strap or vehicle anchor. The weakest link on mine is my synthetic winch line or the winch.

    If you knot up your tow strap you can get the knot out by banging the knot with a hammer against concrete. You have to keep turning it and working at it but it will work. Great video

Great information and an excellent walk-through of the products with brief highlights of specs and applications. (I hope you have addressed the BRUTAL assault - your intro and outro audio levels did to my speakers and ears. Hot by 35%?) I stil subscribed, liked and notifications! :)

    Hi l watch the video on the fatality that was all over the internet. The calculations with the truck plus being in mud was 18000 lbs. I have a 2010 Ram 3500 mega cab. Will your mega Shackle work albeit rated for 16000. I want to use my truck for pulling medium size trees on my property and for helping someone who l may find stuck and to tear a old double wide mobile home apart. I'm looking at the 30 foot kienetic rope as well?

  • @GearAmerica

    Our mega shackles have a 68,000 lb minimum breaking strength. If you want to go bigger, go with our Uber Shackles...with a 20,000 lb work load and 80,000 lb MBS.

    Shackles very very very seldom fail don't understand why people take the chance adding a soft shackle that like we saw in the wrecker games and many other channels fail and tear up stuff especially when connected to a snatch rope

  • @GearAmerica
    @GearAmerica Жыл бұрын

    If I am pulling out a stuck Jeep, soft shackles are great. There are many situations that require heavier gear, and all recoveries are different. I carry gear for just about every situation I can think of, and there are MANY times I prefer a hard shackle hitch receiver over a soft shackle on my bumper. Wrecker games was put on by "professional youtubers" trying to get views. When I'm out in the middle of the night on a rescue mission, or providing assistance in a potentially deadly wreck or rollover, the last thing I am worrying about is filming it. Properly assess EVERY situation the best you can, and use gear accordingly.

    @@GearAmerica good point. I am just scared of the soft shackles. Guess one reason is I own a older Holmes 500 wrecker which will break wire rope if fouled. Guess I am just over worried about them breaking and know there isn't much chance breaking steel shackles. Thanks for the work and effort sharing info to us

    It’s hard for me to not use my snatch part because I’m leery of the ring wearing out the soft shackle since there is no inside bearings and only friction. What’s your thoughts with long term use of wear due to that friction rube from the ring

    Acronyms simplified. Thanks for the great content. Have driven 4x4s for years but never bothered to do a deep dive into recovery. I started to recently and regret not doing so before. It should be a requirement for all 4x4 enthusiasts considering the safety element. I look forward to following you guys. Thanks Gear America, all the way from South Africa.
