From a design perspective I do agree that the mega man zero games having its own art style to separate itself from the mega man X games is a great way for people to recognize it. After all this is Zero’s chapter, hence the title mega man zero. Series lore wise, we can only really speculate. My theory is that when zero voluntarily encapsulates himself in the ending to X6 (or was it X4?) maverick hunter scientists and researchers starts picking away at zero’s body to both study and eradicate the Wily virus. Why his whole body? well it seems like if anyone gets way too close of contact with zero they contract the wily virus, hence why sigma went maverick. Another piece of evidence is when gate explains that after he found a piece of zero’s parts, he felt immense knowledge and power that felt too much to contain. At least that’s what I think as the reason behind that bit of lore.

As a kid who played Mega Man X on SNES faithfully, when I got to middle school and would see Mega Man Battle Network and Mega Man Zero in gaming magazines or boxart I didn't like them. I would refer to Battle Network Mega Man as "that lame jack in Mega Man". Yeah don't know what I was thinking, both those series are dope after finally playing them with the Legacy Collections.

To be honest i always thought Zero from Megaman Zero series is just Zero from past but after losing TONS of armor due to rust, simple explanation, whole mechanical body was untouched for over 100 years so rust, some mecha bugs etc was eating his body and all he got left was actual GBA Body.

You're not far from the truth. Zero actually did deteriorate during his slumber. When Ciel finds him in Zero 1, he's missing arms and is rotting. Thanks to cyber elf Passy, he's restored.

It would be interesting if Alia did have some involvement of the development of the Mother Elf, and that she and Ciel's ancestor were colleagues or something, or if they wanted to create ties between Alia and Ciel even further, they could say that Alia's creator was Ciel's ancestor and that she had been created to assist in lab research, and that the ancestor was someone like Dr. Light in the sense that she believed in families and stuff even between robots, which is why that person made Alia blonde because maybe their lineage is full of blonde people, and they wanted to make Alia feel like one of them, but due to Sigma's rebellion and the lack of available people to provide support at Maverick Hunters HQ since many revolted with Sigma, that Alia decided to volunteer herself as navigator, as she believed she could offer more help that way, kind of similar to how Rock started out as a Lab assistant but volunteered to become a fighting robot to be more helpful, and if they wanted to make things tragic they could make it so that the Reploids that rebelled with Sigma, killed or wounded Alia's family which would have given her more motives to be part of the fight against the mavericks.

To be fair to Lifesaver, he did fuck up pretty badly in X5. disobeying orders and going behind Commander Signas' back to tell X about Zero, which led to their two most powerful assets nearly killing each other. I would not be surprised if he was dishonourably discharged.

It's such a shame how botched the execution was because I have always loved the look of it. My headcanon has X switching to it to take on massive mavericks, like Tony Stark's Hulk Buster armor. Considering of course that in the opening anime cinematic for PS1 Mega Man X3, he can switch armors on the fly.

I always thought that maybe, since The Mother Lode is said to be a "great catastrophe" and since Legends takes place after ZX, what if it's the remaining fragments of Model W that had been collected by whatever might have happened in ZX3 and it's some seal that's been put in place to keep Weil's influence from getting out and destroying everything?

People believe that Lifesaver was fired from his post if not flat out retired after the Eurasia incident. As he disobeyed Signas direct orders. Almost got X killed. And got Zero killed for a bit.

I never would have considered that unused Iris -another- design being Alia stealing from Signas. I love that so much. Excellent work on this one! To he honest, I haaaaated Alia when I first encountered her in X5. I just wanted to play the game! I really came around to her with X8 and then looking back to the other games, she's a great addition to the cast. Again, excellent work! Hoping for Layer soon! 👀
