    Appreciate this video and your honesty I've got a GTC 2.0 cdti and been toying with the idea of getting a new car for something more powerful but it's an expense I could obviously do without as in the real world for commuting 165bhp is enough and 270nm feels fine. I'd just like more excitement but as you've said, the strain it puts on other components such as the clutch concerns me and your honest assessment of your experience has swayed me. I'll make do and upgrade when the time is really right. Atm I've had it for 5 years and it's never skipped a beat. I'll own it outright in two months so keeping it until is truly packs up would he the sensible thing to do

    Things to note When mapping car support the remap correctly U can push it as much as u want if your car can deal with more torque and power that’s fine but if your on the limit uprate your clutch That’s the only way depending on the car u might want to uprate other things also such as boost pipes You can also ask the tuner to set the torque less or more linear so it’s less stress in lower components and longevity’s but if u update the low end things ur good to go it’s just more money

  • @mrlopes1234

    Hey. Be sure to check that you flywheel and clutch can handle it. £250 might sound like a good deal but if you have to upgrade other parts too then it soon becomes expensive. Good luck and let us know how it goes 👍🏼

    I just remapped a 2.0 CDTI Opel Cascada. Definitely don't feel the extra HP, but on hills I definitely feel the extra torque. Aside from that, the acceleration is very smooth and linear throughout the RPM range, making for a much more comfortable ride. My driving experience has improved significantly. Yes, definitely check the max specs on all the moving parts before doing the remap. If you're within range, I absolutely recommend remapping. Remember, driving experience is more than just "vroom! car go fast"

  • @lukabilic6081
    @lukabilic60812 ай бұрын

    I looked into remapping my car hoping to get something out of that. Very soon I found out that unfortunately this would require replacement of ZF8HP45 into ZF8HP75, new and stronger turbo, new injectors and different exhaust. And all that just for a 30-50 HP boost and a wee bit of extra torque - assuming I wanted my car reliable and in good shape for years. If I wanted more out of it... new headgasket, new cylinders, new cylinders sleeves etc... that is no longer a tuning attempt but an entire new engine. Hell... at that point I could just go and make my own engine from scratch xD So, yeah, I bet I would be better off with an engine swap or just buying a new car. Which I, thankfully, do not need.

    1 - Many cars can take the extra torque (clutch, flywheel, gearbox). 2 - cars should be and usually are mapped to the safe power that all parts can take, not just engine. 3 - mapping improves fuel economy, it means savings. Proper remapping by a specialist is a must have....

    VAG TDI Remap? ---> Yes absolutely. Pressure on turbo: no problem. Pressure on engine: no problem. If the engine is maintained and all maintenance seen to it will have no negative effects. Diesel engines don't suffer the compression-knock limitation of petrol engines, so there is absolutely NO reason not to remap them.

  • @THEmomentumJUNK1E
    @THEmomentumJUNK1E2 ай бұрын

    This only applies to manual transmission. Hydromatic or Dual-clutch automatic is a completely different story.

  • @THEmomentumJUNK1E
    @THEmomentumJUNK1E2 ай бұрын

    My opinion is this... On the VAG cars, about 90 percent will be Dual-Clutch, at least where I live. The engines, petrol have about 30% average headroom on the turbo and diesel have about 50% headroom on the turbo. Internals are almost all forged and have more than 50% headroom. Here in Africa we get the full Euro-spec cars... No downrating for emissions, no limited transmission options. My 2013 Audi Q3 has the DQ500 7 speed DSG dual clutch transmission, Wet multiplate clutches, good for up to about 750N.m. For me the tune is an absolute no-brainer. It's nowhere near reaching the torque limit of the clutches, and being wet multiplate, they dont suffer from the dry clutch judder effects.

  • @THEmomentumJUNK1E
    @THEmomentumJUNK1E2 ай бұрын

    Yup, that would be the dual mass flywheel. Dual mass springs are matched to the torque range of the engine.
