My family found out in 2008 after most of my Mom's generation were dead. My uncle had his DNA done. We now know things that we would never have found out about. We have an ancestor who was a Familiar of the inquisition. We still don't know if he was a Schindler or an Eichman.

Americans have done their best to destroy and forget one of their original languages, they want English to be the ONLY language, they choose to ignore their history ties with Spanish heritage.

Zack, you’re probably more Native American than Hispanic. You should probably look deeper into your heritage and ask yourself what language your people spoke prior to adopting a colonized language such as Spanish. What happened to your Native language, and who is preserving your ancestral language?

He doesn’t seem to know much of this so called dialect. The word ‘plebe’ can be inferred by any Spanish speaker the meaning of people. If that’s the best he can give us, it seems to be a waste of time and money.

James Burke is absolutely correct about the way technological developments have enhanced the opportunities to introduce to people ideas and knowledge that was in earlier periods restricted to a privileged minority. Thanks to the brilliant work done by people who have written the code for software programs such as PowerPoint, I have learned how to use the software, turn presentations into narrated videos and then upload every lecture I have developed over four decades of teaching to my own KZread channel. Millions of other people have done the same sort of thing. And, here we are, at our leisure pulling up all of the brilliant insights of James Burke (and so many others).

Plebe is a very, very old castllian word than can be traced back to the birth of the lenguage at the middle ages of central Spain.(The old Reign of Castilla). Albeit it has survived until today, its rarely used in normal spoken Castillian. Two remarks: I use the term "Castillian" and not Spanish, becouse, althrough we are all bilingual, at my home land, our mother lenguage is basque. Castllian, Castellano, means "From the Reign of Castile". The Reign of Castles.

Spanish surnames and influences are present literally everywhere in Colorado including the names of towns. My grandmother spoke Castilian Spanish and when she met my wife from Mexico they began to talk but the focus quickly changed to the usage and small differences between the versions of the language as they enjoyed each other's company. My grandparents from both my father's side and my mother's side came to Denver in 1941. My maternal grandparents were from *El Cerrito and La Garita, New Mexico while my fathers side came from Mora, New Mexico. New Mexico was a harsh place to try and grow crops and raise sheep and cattle which was the main reason my grandparents left but my mother's uncles had a successful cattle ranch in La Garita for many years. Once in Denver, both families of around 7 grew to 12 children on each side. Denver had its own challenges. One challenge was my people only spoke Spanish but both grandfathers were fluent in English. Turns out the US Army would escort business people from back east to try and swindle Spaniards out of their land in New Mexico but that stopped once the swindlers realized we were prepared and met them head on. My grandfather, at 19, was approached by the US Army to act as a liaison between the Army and the Indians...My family and the Indians peacefully coexisted and even shared in traditions. My family and the Indians were friendly enough to each other that grandfather and the Indian chief swapped head gear for a pic so the Chief wore a beat up western hat and 2 six shooters while my grandfather wore his actual Indian Headdress! Quite a picture! In Denver, the KKK and Poles made it hard for my family but we were a determined group and fought back. My grandfather saw a deficit and insisted everyone in the family stop speaking Spanish until they mastered the English language. That served the family well for generations but we did lose the sweet sounding Castilian Spanish language. Today both sides of my family have grown strong and at one point I had 24 aunts and uncles here in Colorado.. * A book written by Richard L. Nostrand called: *"El Cerrito, New Mexico: Eight Generations in a Spanish Village* is an interesting read with many historical pictures, facts and data. It is not a story book.

What do they intend to save from oblivion? A Spanish dialect strongly influenced by the indigenous languages that were spoken in the former "Territorio del Camino Real de Tierra Adentro (West Texas, New Mexico and Colorado) until 1848? Or a "Spanglish" with strong Anglo-Saxon roots, mixed with words from the Chihuahuan dialect and some other indigenous languages that still survive in those North American states of the former Viceroyalty of New Spain after 1848? Since the 1st is a true 400-year-old dialect, and the 2nd is a "pidgin", or simplified lingua franca, which is not even capable of achieving the linguistic category of a creole language!, created and used by individuals from linguistically divided communities who after 1848 did not know enough of the English language to use it among themselves... until English It was imposed on them in schools! A linguistic imposition arising from a colonial situation in which two or more groups that spoke different languages lived a situation of forced labor or social subjection of various linguistic and cultural groups to a colonial elite! And that was not the case of the eviscerated territories broken by the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo until 1848, where before 1848 there was NEVER slavery or a colonial situation because before 1848 they were Mexican citizens and since 1812 they were citizens of the Spanish Crown!

Juan de Oñate the founder of New Mexico was born in Zacatecas what it is now Mexico; he was a Novohispano and took with him a lot of Mexicanized Spanish traditions, and the language was not an exception
