Hey there, I am following along and I am having trouble entering the calculated fields and getting the intended results. When I look at the data source my calculated fields 'sales selected field' only has calculated terms for one year, and 'sales previous feild have only null values because its the first year in the dataset. Any idea why the calculated field would only work for the first year? I can send you any info and thank for the great video!
Curious: what would I do if the duration would be over 20 years? Would I still have to enter the # of days?
Hello! Where can I find the dataset to follow along? Could you please post it ?
@@jackiehay2914 Just do a Google search for "Tableau Superstore dataset". Some version of the file should be in multiple places.
So, that is a nice feature. What about the reset button itself? i notice it stays highlighted as well when you click it. Mine does that and it will not remove the highlight until i click it again.
Would better without the music - too distracting
Waiting for Part 2
Thank you, Anthony. Very helpful!
Thank you for the comment!
Amazing video! Watching your Tableau videos makes learning Tableau a lot of fun. Look forward to how to put all the charts together in a dashboard. So if you could also make a video for that one, it would be great!
Thanks for the comment. Recording and editing this video took a lot of effort so it's great to hear that you took some value from watching!
Way to hard to follow and disjointed
Nothing worth having comes easy.
We're having a serious PARTITIONING case here. You the truth man, thanks.
You're the real MVP, thanks for the comment!
LOVE YOUR CONTENT. HELPED ME A TON AT WORK.
I'm very glad to hear that, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the lesson! 👏
Thanks for leaving a comment!
Very clear instructions! I'm learning a lot from your tutorials. However, I can't find a way to make a bullet chart on Tableau Public. I don't see an option for a fixed size when building the bar chart; is this something that's only possible on Tableau Desktop?
This is helpful but when I am downloading the extract from tableau server, I am getting duplicate values
Hey, this was awesome :) i look forward to more guides
Thank you!
How to create a connection when other user opens the Excel file , the data will refresh automatically, without prompting to authenticate to SQL
Great to follow this. I managed to do it/implement it into my report. Thanks and you got +1 new sub =)
Glad to hear it, thank you!
Helped!
Hi Anthony - thank you for the demonstration. I am in the process of doing a salary and promotion request for my job. I understand the fundamentals of tableau but my question was how can I incorporate text only to show some community events, field and vendor events like that?
great videos !!!! Simple and Nice man !! tnx
Simple and nice is what I was aiming for, thank you!
Great explanation. Thanks
Thank you!
Thanks so much, you really helped me understanding grouping by and partition by. My lines of code now work as intended!
Fantastic, glad to hear that you learned something new!
We can use copy formatting from one worksheet to another worksheet for bar chart to save time😊
Another way would be to duplicate the bar chart sheet as Anthony did. However, instead of drag and drop new dimensions to Rows you can double click the dimension you want to change out and write the name of the dimension to replace with. This will keep the formatting already applied to the previous dimension for the new one.
Really Thank you for your explanation 😍😍 a New Like and subscription From Egypt 🤙
Thank you for supporting the channel!
Saved my day. Thank you. Trying to handle csv via oythpn script and always getting all values in one column, separated by the comma. Now I fixed it. Very unconvinient option in windows :/
Glad to hear it!
Thank you man, you are a lifesaver!
Thanks for the comment, much appreciated!
how is this in anyway better than MSQuery where i could just do {Call MyStoredProcedure(?,?,?)}. Not a bit of VBA or a macro, i could just assign the 3 parameters to cells on the sheet.
I know MSQuery is listed as an older legacy option and you have to manually enable it in the latest version of Office 365 Excel (will it continue to be supported like VBA)? However, you have given me an option to test, I'll let you know how it goes.
@@AnthonySmoak My complaint is really with Microsoft. They took something simple and replaced it with a nightmare. I'm a programmer so other than disliking VBA, i have no problem with this approach other than it used to be very simple with MSQuery.
@@jdwyer4851 I made a video exploring the MS Query approach. Thanks for the comment. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKOIj7Khl8axkZs.htmlfeature=shared
@@AnthonySmoak Thank you for doing that. Microsoft has buried MSQuery on the current Excel version and you have to add it to the menu yourself. I hope that it doesn't go away completely, or at least if it does Microsoft could replace it something that its as equally simple. I'm a programmer, but for fast ad-hoc solutions I can turnout an Excel doc calling a stored procedure in minutes. Perhaps the more people who know about and use MSQuery the less likely it gets killed by Microsoft.
Thanks! Can't wait to see Part 2!
🎓
Thanks for this session.. Extremely helpful. Just one question, on category bar, can we change the color of the percentage like red for negative value and green for positive value and also add up and down arrow. I'm trying similar thing but I don't know if thats possible.
This is great but I have a question on the Order Previous Year and the Customer Previous Year calcs. Why did you use Order ID and Customer ID in your IF/Then statement vs CountD of Order ID and CountD of Customer ID? Could you have written those as CountD instead of using CountD in your YoY calcs.
I remained consistent with the original dashboard design by Dmitry. I suppose you could aggregate in the formula and then when they are placed in the marks area the pills would show AGG(OrderId) to show that the OrderId is already summed. Give it a try and let us know!
bro, nice one. An humble request: kindly turn off background music, its bothering.
Great walkthrough. Please do more of these as they're extremely helpful.
Thank you for the feedback!
Thanks Anthony! Really helpful
Much appreciated!
Would help if you link the dashboards ?

Hi Anthony, so whenever my mssql data change, the data in excel would change after refresh right? What if I want to do an inner join, so I just change the query in the source in power query? Thank you so much.
Or do i import both tables and also change the query?
@@saikyawlin663 Your data will refresh based upon what is in SQL Server, yes. Watch the videos in this series to connect Excel to a SQL query. kzread.info/head/PLRNrM8SIqgQZ4u5yGSlVNeGgej1lcwLwr
Glad to hear it and thanks for the comment!
Thanks for the video. I learned a lot.
Hi Anthony! Thanks so much for this. I'm having difficulty recreating the sheet swap title container (switches between "Profit vs. Budgeted Profit" and "Trending Profit"), how are you achieving this? I attempted to do another sheet swap container that contained sheets where the only value on the sheet was the desired title in the Label card, but once on the dashboard sheets within the container would never revert to 1pxl in height, so I was left with awkward whitespace.
Figured it out! You need at least one pill on the rows or columns shelf to have the worksheets resize. This can be anything, and I chose to use a calculated filed just containing " " added to the row shelf.
Great Tutorial! The background sound was a little distracting for me
Thanks! Very easy...appreciate you man.
I really appreciate the SUPER thanks!!!!!! Thank you 🤜
This was so easy. Thanks a bunch.
Glad to hear it, thank you!
Very helpful - thanks!!

thanks for this, it worked.
Exactly what I was looking for ❤ thanks bro 😎 👊
