    Deck chair fabric is sold by the meter so for my outdoor table its a perfect runner for a 4 meter long table. No joins or bumps! Great stripes too.

    It’s a beautiful tablescape. However, the tablecloth is a little too busy. You have “beautiful china, crystal and silverware; to me the diamond of the table is your grandmother’s candelabras”. A simple pristine pressed white linen table cloth would have framed your lovely pieces better.

    If your concerned about bleeding, Biz works well but you have to put it full strength on the stain and work it in. Fels Naptha works wonders, use a soft tooth brush (I've also used my thumb nail) to work it into the stain. Then soak all night and give a good rinse. There has only been once or twice that I've had to retreat.

    I have a vintage tablecloth that has definite yellowing. There is no other colors on it, just all cream color. What do you think would work best? Thank you

  • @AdorntheTable
    @AdorntheTable7 күн бұрын

    Because of the yellowing, I'm assuming it hasn't been used or laundered in years. I would suggest first just soaking it in very hot water for 24 hours. Then I'd drain the water and refill it with new very hot water and a little blue dawn dish soap. Let soak for another 24-48 hours. If most of the yellowing hasn't disappeared I'd then move to trying an OxyClean hot water bath. ~ Hope that helps. (It's always hard to provide advice without seeing the cloth.)

    @robbiewood39567 күн бұрын

    @@AdorntheTable Thank you so much! I did not even think about posting a picture here. Because I’m a little bit of a computer dinosaur. I’m not sure even how to do that. Lol I cannot use dawn Blue as I am very allergic to it. I have to use fragrance free soaps. I will try the hot water and maybe just jump right to the oxyclean?

  • @AdorntheTable
    @AdorntheTable6 күн бұрын

    @@robbiewood3956 Unfortunately I'm not familiar with fragrance free soaps, but you could substitute the dish soap you use in place of Dawn, or you could jump right to oxyclean if the hot water bath doesn't work. If the hot water bath appears to release some of the yellow, you could also do a 2nd hot water bath and let your cloth sit in it for another 24-48 hours. I've had lots of luck with plain baths, as the hot water helps hydrate the cloth and release any dirt or grime. Good luck!

    The original formulation for pewter was an alloy containing a lot of lead, and hence old pewter should never be used for food. Armetale is a modern (1960s) formulation using aluminum instead of lead, so it isn't poisonous. It isn't so much "fake" pewter as "non-poisonous" pewter. When I was a kid and in love with all things medieval and fantasy I treasured my Armetale goblet. My sister and brother also had them -- bought with our own allowances. Such fun.

  • @AdorntheTable

    As I was preparing to host a tea party for the ladies in my family, I put out a request for decor and other items thru my neighborhood "Buy Nothing" group on FB. Someone generously gifted me a 16 piece, iridescent snack set. I'd never seen nor heard of these but incidentally found another yellow set at a thrift store. One thing led to another and here i am seeing your video. I am so excited to incorporate these for fun meals and snacks with my family as well as larger gatherings in lieu of paper/plastic. • @AdorntheTable
    @AdorntheTableАй бұрын

    I soak in a separate plastic container, often for many days, because that leaves my washing machine free for regular laundry. I have a front loading machine that doesn't allow for soaking. If you have a top loading machine, it's harder to soak items with the center piece in the way. Hope that answers your question. 😀

    I am 77 and I received a snack set when I married my first husband. Then I inherited my mother's snack trays when she passed. I have to admit that I have never used either set, but now that I want to get away from single use products (paper plates), I may be digging them out to use. I expect that there will be some education needed bucause my guests will likely be unfimiliar with them.

    What happens if the utensils fall out as you grab one ...why put it in a jar instead of a cutlery box so it lies flat rather than standing up that way no risk of touching other utensils and nothing falls out since its all lying flat. And foil trays look a bit tacky so I would use chaffing dishes and platters and bowls.napkins need to also go on a plate or napkin holder so it looks nicer and condiments need to be in a bowl or something not the bottles as the packaging makes it look ugly and ruins the overall table aesthetics
