Johnny Mandel (music) & Paul Francis Webster (words) - Sue Raney - vocals, Bob Florence - piano, Bob Magnusson - bass, Jim Plank - drums. On side B of this beautiful LP album is another Johnny Mandel song, _Suicide Is Painless_ (aka Song from M*A*S*H)

This is always been one of my favorite songs but there are very few covers of it (Jack Jones did a great job, of course), even rarer female covers, I think. This is an excellent version. Jazzing it up little, as implied in the end of Jone's version. I think Talya Ferro could have done a good version also.

Having seen and heard Ms. Parris perform at Sculler's in Boston, I will never forget her amazing renditions of favorite songs! Not trying to sound too pat or simplistic, she truly made many of them 'her own'. As is the case with this song, which was probably made most famous by the man who wrote the music to these lyrics by Johnny Mercer, Barry Manilow. I wonder if Barry has ever stopped and listened to this iconic version? Hmmm....I wonder...

I remembered hearing the name Ann Hampton Callaway before they played this song on KJAZZ. Then I looked you up on You Tube. Cool vocals, great combo and what a looker. So lets write down this date down. September 4 2022. i could go about the importance of the month September. Maybe on another platform

TRUE WASHINGTON STORY First heard this one evening in 1965 on Felix Grant's nightime 'Album Sound' program (WMAL AM), assiduously saved my allowance, caught a DC Transit bus downtown one afternoon and bought it at The Disc Shop in the Universal Building near the intersection of Connecticut and Florida avenues. Felix Grant, DC Transit, and The Disc Shop are now all gone but the LP -- having accompanied me to college and to residences in New England, Old England, the South, and Los Angeles -- remains safely in my possession 20 miles from where it was purchased.
