Im loving all of them. I'll start with the stockings, then ornaments. Thanks ❤
Sounds like a great plan! Have fun 🎅🏻
The hexagon template is listed as 2 1/4” but it looks more like 4-5” across? Is that correct? Thank you
It’s from a hexagon template set from Hobby Lobby and says 2 1/4” (with the seam allowance piece) but I just measured side to side and it is 4” across. Hope that makes sense!
There is another very simple way to gather something. Make sure that the presser foot and throat plate are ones that can be used for a zigzag stitch! These instructions are for someone who is right handed. Measure how long the area is that is to be gathered. Measure a length of 1/16th or 1/8th inch ribbon, or very thin cording, that is 4-5 inches longer than the measured fabric. (If the fabric is 20” long where you want the gathers to be, your ribbon or cording should be at least 24-25 inches long. There is no need to cut the ribbon or cording! It will not remain in the fabric.) Leave a tail, at the beginning, least 2” long. The ribbon or cording should be positioned so that the long loose end is hanging over the front of your sewing machine. Secure the short end that is closest to the back of your machine, by either taking a few stitches into it, or with a pin. Make sure that it cannot be pulled into the casing you are about to sew. Next select the zigzag stitch and a wide width. With your right hand, hold the long length of ribbon or cording near the front of the presser foot. You are going to zigzag over the ribbon or cording, being careful to NOT sew on it! Hold the long end of ribbon or cording so that you keep it centered under the threads that are going to the right and left. (Creating the zigzag stitch.) When you reach the end of the fabric, pull the fabric away from the machine. Cut the threads. Hold the portion of the fabric where you stopped sewing with your left hand. With your right hand, pull the end of the ribbon or cording. With your left hand slide the fabric to the left, creating gathers however tightly or loosely that you desire. Pin the long loose end of the ribbon or cording into the fabric. Change the stitch back to a straight stitch. The stitch length can be 3 or greater. Do a straight line of stitching, beginning at the area of the fabric where you started sewing the zigzag. Stitch slightly to the right of the zigzag stitches. This will keep the gathered material in place. Continue sewing until you reach the end of the gathers. If you used a pin to secure one end of the ribbon or cording, remove it. If you took a few stitches to hold it, carefully remove those stitches, so that the short end of the ribbon or cording is completely loose. Using your left hand hold the fabric at the end where you stopped doing the zigzag stitch. Don’t hold the ribbon or cording. With your right hand pull the ribbon or cording all of the way out. Continue with your project.
Thanks Linda for such a detailed response 🥰
I found that dog pattern at HL too…my friend has a Basset Hound and finding fabric with a Basset is almost impossible. What I found had some color. I have some leftover from the tote I made her so I’ll do this for her. I had to do a bit of fussy cutting to get that Basset centered 😂. Thank you.
What a good friend you are to get that Bassett Hound just right! 🥰🐶
Could you post a link for the seam ripper? Thanks ! 🙏
I added a few links in the description but here is the link (my Amazon affiliate link) for Cindy's Seam Ripper - amzn.to/3NUiWiM
Ah HA!!! The narrow seams set the stage for the collar channel, similar to what we did when making masks (channel on each side for the elastic). I plan on making some for the shelter; they give adopted dogs bandanas when they have them (and if the pup is ok with/it). Thanks for an informative tutorial!! 🐶
I love helping with A HA moments! Happy sewing 🐶🥰
Is the tree skirt machine washable? I am specifically wondering if the white snaps would come apart. Thank you! I have sewn for nearly 70 years, predominantly garments, but I also do a large variety of craft type sewing. You are a very good teacher. You explain the instructions well.
I haven't washed mine but don't see what it wouldn't be - it's fabric and batting, so basically a quilt with snaps. The Kam Snaps are used in a lot of baby products that get washed constantly (shirts, bibs, etc) so they shouldn't be a problem either. And TY for the compliment - means a lot. 🥰
Excellent instructions! Thank you!
You are very welcome! 🐶
👋👋 ugg decisions 😂😂 Thinking I’ll start with the stocking’s (both)
Sounds like a plan! 🧦🎄
Making for our 4 great grandkids this year
That sounds like fun! 🥰
I’m not finding the link for the printable template???
I just added template links in the description - lmk if I missed one
What will you try first and what other tutorials would you like to see?
Can't tell you how many times I've forgotten the clip......🙄😂
you're in good company! 🤣
Thank you for a very clear video
You are very welcome - happy sewing!
Adorei o seu projeto, vou fazer com certeza. Obrigada
Have fun!
Thank you!!!!
You are very welcome!
I believe I ❤ Tara Reed Designs!
Well that’s sweet! 🥰
What else should we add to the list??
I’ve been looking for some dog related sewing projects, these look perfect! I’m a beginner and the instructions are really clear. Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to give some of these a try. 🐶
You are very welcome! Happy sewing!
I’ve been looking for something totally different to make, and this is it! My youngest daughter lives in Australia and has 2 dogs. She will love it!
🥰🐶 have fun!
My granddaughter needs a bag to collect shells at the beach so I used some fabric in my stash that has sea shells on it. And I've made her a great bag. Thanks for the tutorial!!
This is exactly why we keep scrap fabric! ❤🐚
❤❤😂😂TOTALLY
And that’s just the highlights! 😉✂️
I believe you are right!!! Lol🥰
Yes! 🎉😂
I believe shopping fabric and sewing are 2 different hobbies 😊
Kindred spirits!
I don’t see the template for the stocking, am I missing it? Thanks.

I've made these for my grandkids. And they loved them even until they became toddlers. They still use them
I’ve seen pre-teens embrace them as fun at the pool as long as the towel is big enough. 🥰 love a project they love for years!
What would a person ask for these items if selling?
I’m not sure… I’d search on Etsy or go to a craft fair to get an idea of what a going rate is
You owned up to a mistake, respect. 💃🏻
Thx and YES! Don’t want to cause anyone issues down the road b/c of my mistake 😮
It’s pronounced FRICTION.
Thanks! Always say it differently ever time 🤷🏻♀️
Shut up.
Love all the projects. I like to make stuff for the local shelter and this gives me several new ideas. Thanks
Great to hear! I’m sure they are very appreciative 🥰🐶
What batting are you using?
I’m not 100% sure and I’m traveling - I’ll let you know when I’m home in a few days and can double check!
Thank you so much, I just made a bag for my water bottle and it is the perfect fit. I was just going to make a pattern up, but was totally going to do a circle bottom and I'm so glad I decided to look it up instead. I love this bottom and I love how you explain the measurements to get the right size bag .
So much easier than round! Happy sewing!
I’m sewing bags to put trinkets and homemade candles in to sell at a renaissance Faire.
This will be perfect! Have fun❤
At 10.35 the channel is snake on the right than the left . How do you correct that. Thank you
I’m thinking “snake” is a typo but you noticed the size folded over weren’t the same on each side at 10:35? Total mistake on my part! I took out the right side (I think that was the one I did too short) and redid it. Lmk if that was the issue…
I have made numerous bandanas in many different styles, including the over the collar style, but I really like your method of measuring for the channel. I make bandanas for my two dogs, but when my other dog had cancer I made her a new bandana for every chemo session. I did use my Cricut to put sayings on each of the bandanas. They were a hit with her oncologist and all the technicians that looked after her….everyone wanted to check out Tia’s bandana & saying of the day. Sadly she lost her battle, but I am so thankful that she got lots of extra attention wearing her bandanas
So sorry for your loss but it sounds like you helped a lot of people and dogs with your efforts 🥰
I am so sorry. I know how heartbreaking this is. I am happy she had the extra attention. You are an amazing mom!
👋👋 I make for ARL. Made (lost count) bandana’s from your previous video thanks a bunch
You’re so welcome!
Wonderful tutorial! Thank you for these cute bandannas.
Happy sewing! 🐶
Great tutorial! I'm going to do this for some baby showers! I would love to see the animal ones!
I’m hoping to get to an animal hood soon - make sure you subscribe and turn on the notification bell so you’ll know! Happy sewing!
These are all so cute! Thanks!
You’re very welcome!
Thank you, Tara!
You’re very welcome 🥰
I like the idea of using Cricut designs on the bandana. I have a Cricut machine but haven't done any iron on vinyl. Can you tell me what the clear thing is that the design was stuck to when you were pressing it? Do you use a different style mat for that type of vinyl? If I decide to buy one of the heat transfer iron things, which do you recommend? Thanks
Heat transfer vinyl comes with the clear backing you peel off after pressing it. I use both the cricut easy press 2 or the mini - I’d make a note to see if they go on sale during Amazon prime days if you have it
Thank you😊
You're welcome 😊
Thank you. I needed this video and will watch it again as I put the tape on my machine.
You’re very welcome!
I’m a lefty and can’t cut at all with my right hand
Like my mom! My dad was a leftie but could cut with both hands I think…
Great video! Thank you
You are very welcome 🐶
I've been teaching myself to use a sewing machine (an old 99K singer) and this is the first thing I made! And I know almost nothing about sewing. Thank you for making it so "easy"!
Yay! Have fun 🥰🧵
The black lines on the seam tape are a little thick so when sewing a straight seam does the fabric lay just on top or butt up to the left side of the black line ? I couldn't really tell from that distance when you were sewing.
I would try one way and then measure to figure out the best placement with your needle
I’m sorry, I missed the live yesterday. I like this new fabric line and will be checking with my local quilt shop. I do have one question will the pillow blocks work well to make one of your book pillows?
I’m glad you like the line! They would work for the 16” book pillows I measured to be sure 👍🏻
What music u got on Karen
Muito bom trabalho, obrigado por compartilhar. São Paulo/Brasil.
