Ricardo, yes! You'd create a trigger to adjust the variable that's associated with the slider. So if, for example, the variable is called Slider1, you'd create a trigger to Action: Adjust Variable (Add or Subtract) a particular value from Slider 1. When: User presses a key

Hi Enders, I have a file with 5 slides. The slider is on the first slide. I want slider to move and show next slides. However, when it shows the next slide - the sliders disappears.

Hi Malvika! This is expected behavior because the slider isn't a player-level feature such as the play/pause control, volume, etc. If appropriate, my first suggestion would be to create your first slide with the slider, and then put the content from the next slides on slide layers (on the first slide). Then you could trigger the layers to show when the user moves the slider. An additional option would be to place a slider on each of the next slides and then associate each slider with the same slider variable. So on each of the next sliders, change the variable to Slider 1. This way, when the slide changes, the slider will automatically maintain it's same position.

This was helpful! - Thanks. It took some effort, but got it done. I'd like to integrate the slider into a Math exercise for a Decimal lesson. Where the learner would use the slider to pick the correct decimal place in a number. I would need to set up a trigger but am not sure how I can link the slider to the number and how I would need to display the number. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi Norbert. I think it will depend upon how dynamic you wish for the exercise to be. For example, if you're simply presenting the learner with, say, a string of 4 numbers and you wish them to place the decimal in the correct position, then you could create a text box with those 4 numbers, and then create a new state for each decimal place. Then you could trigger the state change based upon slider position. I hope this helps!

That's really a good trick! We are now in 2018, still, SL doesn't have multiple answer feature :( I used your strategy, but it didn't work. SL tells me "you must complete the question before submitting" even though I complete the question. anyone knows why?

Hi Selcuk, I'd have to see the file to know for sure. My hunch is that it may be trigger order (the off screen objects not changing state before the submit trigger fires). Hi there. I developed this interactive video in my course (thanks for the great idea). It works perfectly except for one thing--when I skip through the video using the video controls the interaction no longer works. The video does not pause, the question does not appear, etc. Any idea why? Including the video controls is a must--my organization requires it, and we include it on all videos so learners can pause the content and whatnot. Help would be greatly appreciated!!!!! :)

+Cassandra Miller Are you referring to the video controls that you can toggle on and off? If so, those controls are independent of the player seekbar and the slide timeline. As a result, when you rewind the video, that is an independent event and doesn't impact the timeline which is controlling the appearance of everything else. In terms of pausing the video, the main player seekbar can control the video and allows for pausing and playing.

+Enders Design Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I am speaking about the video controls, however, I also tried the interaction with the seekbar and it also does not work properly when you toggle through the video. If I try to skip ahead in the video with the seekbar it automatically pauses the video no matter where I try to jump to, and some other anomalies occur. I'm not sure what I did wrong (as I mentioned previously it works perfectly as long as I do not toggle through the video), but it is required that I provide video controls to the learner--so how do I do that and still make this work? Thanks!

Fantastic. There are so many other ways this can be used too. You can use it to reveal content. Or if you wanted to go a little more advanced you could have conditional drill down content, like States then Cities. Thanks! This opens up so many possibility!

good stuff endersdesign, thank you! I had a similar thought to himanshu and thought a possible solution if you're not that handy with mouse or thumbpad would be to type in a text box and just use a font that looks like handwriting. There are several of these or you can actually make your own, Tom Kuhlmann gives these away free and shows you how, for example.

Hi Stuart, the key is to set the slide layer to pause the timeline of the base layer. To do so, click the gear icon to the right of the slide layer name and make sure the "pause timeline of base layer" option is selected.

Is there a way to add further pauses and questions in this way? I have tried but because the timeline for the slide continues in the background, whilst answering the first question, the timing for the second pause is adjusted. Any thoughts would be very welcome Thanks Stuart

himanshu, while a pen and tablet would be a nice upgrade over the mouse, they also have an associated cost. In a pinch, and with a little practice, the mouse can do the trick!

how can you possibly write with a pen tool without a pen-tablet, wacom etc. ? So, if you need a pen tablet..then you can create videos with Open Sankore!! It is much more powerful than any paid software.
