    This guy used to write rotten reviews of gigs potentially harming bands careers. Looking at him, he aint fit to put pen to paper. He probably remembers nothing the next day.

    Smacked out of his mind here. Can barely open his eyes due to sensitivity to light from the heroin. Must have kicked the habit, he’s still going strong at 70 years old in 2022

    So, this the chap who wrote that appalling review of Pink Floyd in 74. I listened very carefully to the concert that he reviewed. It wasn't Floyd's best concert, but it wasn't a bad concert either. His review was so deplorable that even Pink Floyd started to believe it! Watch the concert on youtube, and read the comments. People love it. Well, in his defense, a guy who cares so much about Sid Vicious and his "music" is not best equipped to review Pink Floyd. It's like a genuine Italian cuisine chef going to Japan to tell Japanese chefs how to do proper sushi. It will not end well.

    He wrote some amazing notes about Miles, Jerry Lee and others with a very advanced knowledge about their work. Sid was a very important figure during the late 70s in England and will be remembered as much as the guys from Pink Floyd. Music is not a competition and a basic bass line is just as important as a complicated synth solo.

    @@GAIASBLUESTrue. But poor Sid couldn't even play a simple bass line. He was tone deaf. The members of Pink Floyd were all musicians. Sid was an image. So the comparison is far-fetched.

    @@dimmykarras9287 Nobody was born a musician or with good ear. Sid did not have a chance to get any better, died too young.

    Off his tits on smack here it looks like... Did I expect anything else!?! =oD Liked The Dark Stuff, enjoyed Apathy For The Devil though when I re-read it, it struck me as being a touch on the fairytale side, especially near the end of the book, when he had his "Spiritual Awakening" in the church. Anyway though, it WAS a memoir after all! And it was amusing reading the sniping at Julie Burchill, there's no love lost between them, most definitely! They still occasionally snipe even now, I remember seeing Burchill commenting on Apathy For The Devil, and she had a bitch about it even after all this time...

    Sid Viscious was a gutless coward, chains, broken glasses & bottles into peoples faces with no warning! I'm glad the piece of shit died, just a shame no one glassed him before he went. Love the music not the barbaric violence.

    He did get glassed before he died. Paul Weller did. Sid always got a good kicking. Couldnt win a fight on his own.

    He has written some really bad stuff as well. In his words, he "admires" Sid Vicious and his music... but then goes on to write an extremely damaging article on Pink Floyd. Which planet did he live in?! Maybe he had a bad trip at that Floyd concert in 74 at the Empire Pool. People loved the concert then, they still love it now! This piece of work, however, had a different view. Yes... What a massive bell-end!

    didn't Johnny name Sid Vicious after his Hamster?

  • @chrisparkin9947
    @chrisparkin99477 жыл бұрын

    Sid was the name of Johnny's hamster, I think. The Vicious part came later because of his reputation for violence. Not sure if it's related to this particular incident, though.

    John Lydon named his hamster Sid because he was a fan of Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd. When Barrett was removed from the band John held a grudge against Pink Floyd for that and had a “I Hate Pink Floyd” t shirt.
