I always used the nasci reels and they are great but I picked up a vanford last year and wow what a difference. Totally getting the new model to go with my new dropshot rod.
I’m liking this new reel. Is it designed more for braid or fluorocarbon? Thanks
Also, I’m looking into getting a new shimano reel. I currently have the k model for frogging and I love it. But I’m in the market for something different to use for flipping and pitching what do you recommend? Thanks again
HAD 4 VANFORDS ALL BROKE DOWN TOTALLY AND LOOSE PARTS HANDLEPLAY LIKE SILLIY.. ALL IN MAX 1 YEAR.. CRAPFORD
I see that selling well in Canadian Tire stores.
Jackall is a super innovative fishing company in Japan. My GoTo rod for bottom fishing is my Priza Madai. Shimano is so smart doing this.
Hey JP, when is Shimano going to add Core Protect or X Protect to more baitcasting reels? All of the spinning reels from Nasci up have one or the other. It’s long overdue
Saya dulu karyawan shimano. Habis kerja kontrak urusi asuransi tenaga kerja ga dapat. Ganti dong sekarang dg sepeda yg bagus. Saya suka bersepeda.🙏🙏
Love how you walk us through this. I can’t get my knot to ever bite. I’m using 10lb braid to 8lb fluoro. I tie it exactly like you do and it slips every single time. :(
@@pondbossbaits4579 on which knot?
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors the SC. I’ve only been able to get the FG knot to work once and the SC looks so much easier to tie, but I can’t get it to bite ever.
What sensilite rod would you suggest for primarily nottawasaga river but also just messing around and trying to catch smaller fish for fun anywhere... I already have a shimano fx 1000 which I would be pairing it with.
@@MD-od2sh any of the light models. I’m tighter rivers you may want a shorter model where on the Notty you may want the 7’6” for extra casting distance. Really depends what you are fishing around
Great review, very helpful! Thank you man!
Great guide thanks! Seems good for some day before leader tying. That said no way I'm tying FG while out fishing if needed. Locked version of the albright will have to do if an emergency leader ty is needed. Will leave the on the water (or bank in my case) FG knots to the pros LoL
Can I use the max Quattro 100 lb for muskie on my Shimano Calcutta Conquest md400
Of course. It will handle plenty of it for Muskie fishing
Hey JP thanks bud love the these up date on new equipment or remake . I think this company has really really pushed the envelope on giving the customer a rod that is 10 times better then what they are asking for price. And that expride B's that is the best fishing rod on the market that you could buy from a company at the price schimino is asking. Trust me JP I've been doing homework for over 3yrs trying to find a company that really is building something special and that's SCHIMINO . You can not get more for your money with any other rod companies. The curado zodias expride and the poison adrena are the best rods for your money that you could possibly get on the market. And I've checked out alot of custom rod companies and NOBODY is building rod's like schimino is . this company really put a lot of thought into building the curado zodias expride and the poison adrena rod's. . And the curado with those fazlite inserts man that's the slickest inserts you can get for guides. Witch means your going to be able to. Get outstanding distance and accuracy when casting. Don't underestimate that curado rod it's legit.
JP need a 7” 6’ for throwing hair jigs for smallmouth in rivers in Northern Illinois - recommendations in Shimano line - price is not a consideration - thanks so much and appreciate the quality content!
Lots of options for you honestly. From lowest price to highest here is your list…. Compre Walleye 7’6” L, Curado 7’6” L, Zodias 7’6” L, Expride 7’6” ML.
is this an all new blank? ive seen one video saying its an all new blank material... but nobody else has mentioned it.... thanks in advance...
Spiral X Core is not new. However the lengths, actions and tapers were chosen for the North American market.
Jo ,uncle John on lovesick lake ,alway looking for walleye in summer, learn drown Shot the season
Shimano.. the best there is..Period, used Shimano gear since the 80s.. from the fighting drag reels and magnum lite rods to SLX xt and Vanford…never once a failure.. ever!
😂😂😂
im buying reel for Light fishing soft plastics. Shud I get 2500S or 2500SHG? does low or high gears matters?
The gear matters if you are using techniques that require faster retrieve rates. The 2500S and 2500SHG have different gear ratios. Typically the XG models bring in 37” per turn, the HG around 33” and the standard low gear around 28” but this will also be dependant on the lb test you are using and how full your spool is. Basically if you want a faster reel, get the HG
Hey JP very knowledgeable bud thanks for the video God bless.
Hello goodnight! All good? I'm from Brazil and I fish for baby tarpon. Could you tell me what the difference is between Vanford and Stradic FM?
Main differences are the Frame material... Stradic FM - Aluminum / Vanford - Ci4+ Carbon and the rotors... Stradic has the regular Shimano rotor, Vanford has the MGL (lightweight) rotor... everything else is the same... I would go with the Stradic for Tarpon fishing personally
Where can I purchase the 2024 one?
Should be shipping to stores by the end of August depending on your location/country
Should I buy the 1st gen slx xt or wait? I've been wanting a bait caster for a while and I think I've settled on the xt just don't know how long it'll be. Are the upgrades very noticeable in your opinion?
If you can score a deal on the first gen grab it. It’s an awesome reel
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors I appreciate the advice👍 great video btw
its Basically a Double Loop Uni Knot its good for Mono and Braid But I have Found the Double Pitzen knot is The Best for Braid !
When I started trying it I called it and improved uni knot. Never knew someone named it. 😂
Why is it out of stock almost everywhere.
They have been very popular and tough to get enough inventory for
Thinking about getting one for my shimano vanquish 3000 thoughts?
It will be an amazing combo. Really wish we had Vanquish here in North America
What gear ratio would you for Texas rigs, wacky rigs and weightless senkos?
Best bet would be the HG 7.2:1 model. It’s a jack of all trades
Hey JP! I am planning to upgrade to this reel from my Ultegra FC, however I still couldn't decide between this new Vanford and Stradic FM. What are your thoughts? - btw, are you planning to do a comparison between those two? Thanks a lot in advance, great videos!
Definitely planing a comparison video! should be done by next week but in a nutshell the two reels are twins internally and spec wise with the exception of overall weight, frame material and rotor material. If you want a lighter reel with faster start up and stop then go Vandford, if you are fishing a lot of braid to fluoro, not so finesse techniques, Stradic will be a great choice. For some, the looks of the Vanford is the deciding factor but spec'd out, they are twins
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors thanks for the quick response. I am from Hungary, in our rivers there are asps, pikes and perch, I would use the reel for these kind of fish, (catfish is a different level and technique) - so honestly the Ultegra does a great job but I have decided to do an upgrade. First I was thinking on Sustain, but this new Vanford/Stradic line made me excited. Anyway, I think both reels would be a great upgrade from an Ultegra. Thanks for the help again! ✌🏻Looking forward to see the next videos! Regards, Csaba
Shimano talica 25 can’t I do 130 braid
of course you can, should hold around 500 yds depending on the braid you use and it's diameter.
Good video, you understand the knot and can show how to tie it properly. When I started tying them I got misled by others videos that show faulty ways to do this knot.
Hey JP thanks for that great tip I plan on getting a few of them. God bless.
JP - Is the JDM version the same as the US version? TY in Advance!~
Tech wise yes but often times they bring different gear ratios over here and in some cases not all of the options the JDM market bears
Thanks brother legend ❤
Hey JP that reel is insane throwing a 1/8. Oz lure on a baitcaster . Thanks for the video it's always a pleasure listening to you and God bless you and your family.
Hey JP. I’m looking at upgrading from a Nascii 1000 to the Vanford 2000 FA for my ultralight stream wading rig. You think the 2000 would pair/balance well with my current TFO trout/panfish 6’ rod? Thanks for the in-depth videos!
It will be lighter than the Nasci 1000 so it will have no issue balancing out nicely! Will make a great pairing.
Hey JP thanks for the video I am blown away bro by the flash boost crankbait s I like what you just showed me. I like there regular crankbaits those mc Beth's are really nice baits. Really appreciate you doing these videos. Hey JP in four days I'll be picking up my first ever schimino expride B rod. I have to pick up some of those flash boost crankbaits . God bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike from Missouri.
I've got the OG Vanford in c3000 & 4000 size. Love em both. I use the 4k for flounder fishing & the 3k for speckled trout on a GLF rod. They started my love affair with Shimano. Now i have several Stradics, a Nasci, Spheros...and they're all great.
Hey JP thanks for the great video I really like that reel. Shimano hear I come. I'm one of your subscribers and God bless you and your family.
Hey JP see what you did now you got me thinking about the Shimano reels.
Dear JP thanks so much for your opinion I have a lot of respect for you. JP I have absolutely had it with these other rod companies I never thought I would be buying another high end end rod because of the horrible experiences I've had with the other 5 companies. I've been searching for over 3yrs checking out every single rod company you can think of and I certainly never thought I would be going to a Japanese company. But like Rick clunn says American companies just don't build the kind of quality that a Japanese company like Shimano. I'm almost 60 yrs old and I'm convinced that the Shimano expride B is the best rods for your money that you could possibly get in the industry. Except for maybe edge rods witch are built by Gary Loomis. But I really honestly believe that this is what I've been looking for for yrs. God bless you and your family. Ps I subscribed to your channel.
I love my Miravel! I have a lot of Shimano reels but the Miravel is my favorite! However, I'm ready for the new 2024 Vanford to arrive in stores!!!
Same here!
Cool
Shimano "Made Vanford Great Again"
Which one do you recommend for bass and catfish but using live bluegill as bait and cast further but arthritis wrist?
Both will work just fine, the Vanfords will be lighter, size for size so if a painful wrist is something you deal with, maybe go for the lighter option.
i thought i order one but i gt the old version
These new ones should be shipping August or September to stores. The reels are very close in specs and you got a great performing reel with the first gen!
I hope Shimano produces a 2025 Spheros with some improvements but with the same low price. And in 6000 or lower, size.
It’s always nice to wish… I have lists like that as well but for the price point, we have been very fortunate as everytime Shimano drops a redesigned reel you basically get trickle down technology upgrades for the same price point.
I run 5 of these though from the japanese/european range. If you get your hands on these you dont want to put them down.
I bought the GLF 7" ft casting rod trying to match combo reel. Please reply
Which power GLF did you get and what techniques do you use most?
Great upgrades from the previous gen., but should’ve brought back the 6’11” Med +. It’s a hell of a rod that was sold out for the first 2 years 🤦🏻♂️
The 6’10” M+ SB is a solid replacement
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors You’re mistaken. The 6’11” Med + Versatile was a casting rod, not spinning. The new spinning 6’10” M+ that you mentioned has a solid tip specifically designed for ffs only. Not even close to a replacement.
Im waiting patiently for my 1611ml/h from japan. Order from japan, the yen is weak right now, so the conversion rate saves you cash. Paid 306 shipped.
How do you do this?
Where would you recommend buying from specifically?
