@@trn8061 clearly you haven't been following Mcevoy's career for a long time because most of us remeber his dominant 100fr swim at the Aussie trials 2016 and how he was the number 1 pick to win gold, but some how flopped it in the Olympics not even being able to make it into the final. I don't think it was badluck that he didn't do well there, just anxiety. The amount of pressure that was on him.

Second of all, his mental game was off for that one race, and that race only. It was an anomoly and he has dealt with it. Fact; it is statistically much harder to win an Olympic final as the favorite, world champ or fastest in the world that year. This has been proven over and over in the past 50 years of Olympic history. Not only am I a McAvoy fan, I'm a massive swim fan. 😉
