Interesting that the cables run through those tubes in the window. I’d assumed that those were power wires and there was a motor actuator inside the frame. Also interesting that the door latch is the same Mercedes unit used in the Countach, but the striker is so much more substantial. The Countach has essentially zero side impact protection and the Vector solution to reinforce this same mechanism is impressive.

I just stumbled across your channel....THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS !!! I am looking forward to watching all the episodes. The W8 is an amazing car, and I'm so curious to get the inside story ! My first car was a Datsun 280z, and the F1 is also my favorite car. The Vector is a very close 2nd....and for sure wins in styling !!! Nice poster of the F1 on the wall, I've got the same one on my garage wall. As an engineer, hearing all the details is fantastic. The F1 has a great book about its development...is there anything like that for the W8?? Ha ha I'd love to come sit in the W8 (no, I do not wanna drive it ! NO WAY ! I'd have a heart attack). but sitting in one and looking it over would be so awesome. The connection is fighter jets is a huge draw for the W8....that is what I did for a career (aerospace engineer mostly doing advanced design prototypes). Your story is fantastic, again thanks for sharing ! Working at Vector would have been a dream come true.

I've wanted a Vector ever since I 1st saw them in the 80's car magazines when i I was around 9. Unfortunately I was too young at the time to do anything about it! Cars and technology like this led me to were I am today, an engineer in the auto industry. Just wish my time was sooner to have been involved in such a project seeking perfection, I would have loved working with Jerry, and to have been in a position to own a W8. Best car ever as far as I am concerned, cause its the complete package. No one cares much about building quality vehicles, with attention to detail, taking manufacturing into account and pushing the technology, and taking no short cuts, thats as much a must have for me as is the looks and performance, which are hands down the greatest for the W8 in the supercar world, even today. So glad to learn more than I already knew about this masterpiece of a car, this is a critical series of videos to preserve the history of the greatest american supercar. To get it legalized it takes 10k or a little over it to modify the car to meet US standards as far as safety and function. Reason being these cars weren't made to touch US pavement that's why they weren't made and sold here. They were made to suit the driving conditions in Japan.

Jezeus Rodriguez Nope, your car can have as much HP as you wan't. But the only way you're driving an actual R34 GTR in the states is if you're extremely lucky. There are only 14 street legal R34 GTRs in the US, all were modified to fit regulations prior to April of 2006. After that time, they made it illegal to import the R34 GTR and GTS here. You can always do it illegally of course, but if you do that, you can be subject to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
@sam-jb1os9 жыл бұрын
Or just wait out the fucking stupid 25 year ban on imports...Did that with my R32 and again going to sell that and go to an r33, until the r34 is legal in a good 8 or so years, although I don't know if because the r33 is a complete and absolute monster and my favorite out of the skyline family...

motorex spent millions on making the R34 legal in the US. the government found out that they cut corners during crash testing. so they banned them for import. i think they were under lawsuits so they closed and are not giving out any information on the mods needed to make the R33 legal here. these car cool cars but id hate to start looking for parts on one of these. probably have to import everything. may cost more to maintain than a Ferrari.

I thought it was illegal once your car hits 1200 hp, now theres thats guy at the top saying 600
Or just wait out the fucking stupid 25 year ban on imports...Did that with my R32 and again going to sell that and go to an r33, until the r34 is legal in a good 8 or so years, although I don't know if because the r33 is a complete and absolute monster and my favorite out of the skyline family...
I know it is probably a long shot, but would this guy be willing to take $80,000 for it?
Vu Anh Nguyen is your man. Went up for sale exactly 24 hours ago for 105k.
he was at the woodward dream cruise i wanna buy this from him
I've seen this car before lol
motorex spent millions on making the R34 legal in the US. the government found out that they cut corners during crash testing. so they banned them for import. i think they were under lawsuits so they closed and are not giving out any information on the mods needed to make the R33 legal here. these car cool cars but id hate to start looking for parts on one of these. probably have to import everything. may cost more to maintain than a Ferrari.
...aaa I want one...lol
or is it ga*?
