Golf Tips from an Old Pro.

Golf Tips from an Old Pro.

I have tried hundreds of different weird and wonderful variation of the golf swing - I’ve even tried playing the game on one leg! Trying to find a swing that guarantees a consistently good strike on the ball has been a personal obsession. There have been many eureka moments - usually short lived! My problem was that l had someone else’s ideal of what my golf swing should look like and that ideal didn’t suit my shape, size or mobility. I have come to learn on this long journey that you should not try to emulate the unobtainable for you! Work with what you have and when you do find a swing that works, stick with it and memorise the fundamentals.

    I like this thought of the right knee move. I have tried this and it really works as it definitely holds my shoulders back, and therefore I feel that my head has stayed behind the ball. Rather than thinking weight shift left I just think as you have explained, right knee to left toe. This is an easy move to adopt.. It would be really good if you could eventually produce some improved quality videos with better sound and in a better environment, as your advice is well worth listening to.

    Ok, here is the deal. I’m a mid single figure handicap who rarely plays. I have a lot of speed even in my 50ies, eg Ball speed with Driver 172mph. Irons are pulls and poor although strike is ok. Went to the nets before a round today and 5 minutes in I thought I’d try your technique in the backswing. Result, room on the downswing, flushed 5 on the bounce. I then took it to the course and I can honestly say, I was striking my irons like a tour pro. My playing partner, who I don’t know thought I was a scratch handicap, which given the new handicap system I probably am. Thank you so much, you have saved me time, money and brought I smile to my face. I don’t worry about the downswing because it happens automatically. I would like to see a video on driver. I have an overswing, across the line with overextension of my thoracic. I would like to know your thoughts on the driver swing. Thank you again😊

    Yes, I have maintained speed over the years, no loss at all. No training or stretching but I have good mobility. I gain my speed to the 170ies by casting the club head behind me to lose the lag which increases the radius. It’s difficult when you have an overswing because the body has to stop to get the hands back on plane. Where are you based in UK? I’m in Surrey …

    Why can't you move your wrists? And keep the hands and fingers quiet.? The wrists have to move.. be loose and movable to allow the swing to function..

    Just started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago. I commented on another video that the right knee to left toe was a lighbulb. I played last Saturday and had the absolute best balls striking of my life. Moving the right knee to the left toe makes it easy to drop my hands and get the club in the slot. I hit a par 5 in 2 for the first time ever at my club. I only (slightly) fatted one iron which was my wedge approach on the 18th and that was just when I started thinking too much. Thank you for making me feel excited about my golf swing again instead of trying all these crazy bowing the wrist and extreme body rotation move that made me so inconsistent.

    As a guy who jacked around with lag dozens of times, I found it never works in the end. You can screw around with it for awhile in your swing but it just never is the real final answer. Lower skilled players think artificially produced lag will give them more distance with an easier swing. And it will. But again, it is never the final answer. Too much unrepeatable timing ultimately creeps in. In the end, lag that is created with enough of an athletic swing that the wrists can't hold back will be the swing you will end up with as an accomplished player. Whether you care to believe it or not, hitting the ball 300+ yards is going to take an emotion filled athletic swing. There is no reliable artificially produced lag shortcut to that. The average "hack" does not want to believe that. They read all this crap on KZread rather than prove it to themselves on the range.

    Hi, if you have little upper body rotation it’s likely the lower body isn’t rotating properly either, this means your effectively playing golf with your arms and the faults are multiple. It sounds like you understand your fault so I’m guessing this is what your practice sessions are focussing on at the moment.

  • @shaneowen-progolfcoach9835
    @shaneowen-progolfcoach98355 күн бұрын

    Hi, when you address the ball your weight should favour the left side. Personally l like to keep the feeling of weight in my left side, throughout the back and down swings. I really don’t like to do to much weight shifting when hitting irons, l find the strike is much more solid.

    Golf is about feel if feeling your hands drop helps do that. The right knee to left toe does automatically drop the right shoulder, arms and hands + shift the weight over and forces the left side to open. It’s good practice to feel these moves happening until they become automatic 💪💪💪

    You should use a club in your demonstration as the action of swinging the weight of a club will have an impact on timing and accuracy due to the momentum of the downswing. To show the swing without a club (weight) is not a true representation of what the swing will look like.
