When I first saw you I assumed you were European, until you said you weren't. So good job! Watching this as European myself is very interesting because it makes me realise what trends and styles are actually European only because Americans don't do them the same way. It's fascinating to reflect on your own culture that way. Even though Europe a diverse continent with many differences between the various countries, it seems there are still things that are common across Europe but uncommon for other continents....

I agree. I’m here in Rome and you are spot on. Nice fit clothing for men and neutral colors. Plain sneaker or boot for winter and a nice wool jacket below the waist.

Nike is popular in Europe yesterday in supermarket in the line in front of me there was a group of children 3 or 4 of them and only one didn't have Nike shoes another one group just kame in so I looked and one boy had a Nike rucksack, rest I don't remember but I specifically looked for Nike because I also used to like it as a kid. You don't need expensive clothes to look good just go into the store that has everything for couple of Euros and get something you like that fits. What bothers me personally is when young people buy expensive shoes and then don't wash them, it just looks ugly to go around with super dirty shoes, they get dirty but at lest wipe them from time to time ...

Great tips. Just one other thing. Making the v sign with the fingernails facing away from you can be seen as offensive in the UK. It means 'f*ck off'. Thoiugh maybe not used so much these days as in the past, Fingernails towards yourself still means peace though.

Do not get skinny jeans. They look awful. Always the biggest culture shock when you get off a plane in Europe. You look around and all guys are wearing trousers/pants that are way to tight and too high above the ankle. Stick to regular fit or boot cut

for a first video on the Euro=American you have just made an amazingly simple, accurate and usable video. My husband who does not think clothing is important was impressed....(thank you).....we learn so much more from experience than from reading etc. Its American to respect other cultures, to. be good guests and not offend our hosts. In Greece, small talk between strangers could be anything. From talking about today's bus strike at a supermarket line, to a taxi driver asking about if your wife is hot and the age and names of your children. Warmth!

I'm french and I recognize american tourists pretty easily. They usually wear big hooded sweatshirts, Baseball caps, larger tshirts etc... But they also have different haircuts, and overall different faces (more nordic let's say than in France).

You are so right!!!! Me, as a european/austrian, hurts so very much, when people - not only tourists - wear gym clothes or beach clothes in a city! Be sure that we wear them also, but just where they belong!!! Besides: brands are not the matter of fact!

Yes, it "hurts" because it is disrespectful and a lost of culture! I personally find it distgusting when tourists wear gym- or beachclothes in our beautiful cities to go out for a coffee or dinner or visits for example churches! It is a shame to see people not in proper way to visit for example our st stephans cathedral! As I wrote, of corseI also wear these kind of clothes, but just where they belong and not as an every day clothing!

There is no 'proper' way to dress in public. What's 'proper' is what's legal and what makes one feel comfortable. If you get annoyed at people wearing a tracksuit inside a cathedral you really are silly. Oh and also, just because clothes are made for a certain purpose, doesn't then mean that they can only be worn for that purpose, so how about you let complete strangers who are innocent go about their own private lives and stop being so judgemental. The beauty of a free and open democratic society is that people from all walks of life, backgrounds and cultures can come together and share in the beauties that said society offers, without having to face discrimination or unfair treatment. Why not just live and let live, and let people express their true selves in peace?

@@koschmx viele ,ich komme aus Kusel das ist in der Pfalz. In Baumholder gibt es ein Stützpunkt der amerikanischen Streitkräfte. Meine Mama ist Frisör und arbeitete auf dem Stützpunkt. In allen Ferien musste ich mit zur Arbeit . Weil meine Mama alleinerziehend war. Nicht immer gleich angegriffen fühlen 😉. Ach ja ps das war vor über 20 Jahren ( ich bin 88 geb') , damals durfte man noch Leute mit zum Stützpunkt nehmen.

Sie haben zwei Kinder. Ich bin einfach mit Amis aufgewachsen . Als Kind war das ganz normal, erst als ich älter wurde habe ich gemerkt dass wir eigentlich unterschiedliche Kulturen sind 😅. Amerikaner gehört einfach zu unser Region dazu.

I was on the bus once and accidentally made eye contact with someone and they smiled, and I was like, Idk, startled by it, bc no one really does that here, so it took me like three seconds before I smiled back (cause that felt like the right thing) but it was so weird- 😬

If you speak only English ... very loudly at times. like when you are on the train or bus ... you will be 'marked' as a tourist ftom the USA, no need to bother on how to dress in Europe

I've travelled throughout Europe for many years. Your observations are spot on. Very well done, sir! Two additional comments: 1. Europe is not North America. Accept the differences with a positive frame of mind. 2. Many European men carry a small over-the-shoulder bag. A great accessory! No bulges in your pockets and your hands are always free!!

Great video! Sweet and simple. I travel to Europe as much as I can and there are a few things that are absolutely true: class over comfort, gym clothes for the gym only, and NEVER flip flops with socks! Now, one thing: cargo shorts. I love them and I bought my best pair in a very nice place in Liverpool. However, I'm over 60. For young guys it is probably better to go with the shorter ones. People like my wife and I, in that range of age, I mean, have to be very mindful of what to wear in Europe. Of course, what I love in the US is that everybody wears whatever they want, and it is OK, but in Europe, if you like to blend and not to look cheap or even ridiculous, you must follow some rules, particularly if you are over 50.
