    That’s a tough decision to make for someone else. I personally have had to fix a lot of stuff on mine but customer support taken care of me every time. Every printer beaks and every one of them needs maintenance. My Qidi Tech X-Max 3 printers have had less issues and worked amazingly well right out of the box but they are double the money. But I’d buy another one over two or even four bed slingers any day.

    Noice, after seeing how awesome the SV08IS I had to try bigger so I bought a kobra 2 Max, I know it's not gonna be the same quality or standards as the SV08 but it is big as hell, for some reason I thought the cobra Max and the Neptune Max were 350mm build volumes...........

    I’m actually looking at the possibility of replacing my Anycubic Kobra 2 Max with the Sovol SV08. If I can make them more reliable than the AK2M then I’ll be swapping them out. I know they’re smaller build volume but my Anycubic won’t stop breaking down and it’s getting tiring to deal with constantly. The Elegoo’s aren’t much better. I really like the Qidi Tech X-Max 3’s I have. They’re the best so far. The K1 Max is going in the garage. It’s louder than all the rest in my office.

    Sovol finally got back to me. Took me an hour or so but it was an issue with the printer’s configuration file. I had to change the current to the motors. if your bed wires are abraiding like that, you should find a cable/drag chain for it to protect the wires and prevent it from getting hooked on things or bound up. I don't know why they aren't standard on bed slinger printers, they really should be.

    It’s called that in Cura Slicer. I believe Orca calls it something else. In Orca slicer look under the “Others” section I believe it’s called something like “Reduce Infill Retraction”. @@OuterRimArmorer ahhh I saw that on Reddit too but couldn't find it. I was on the "Object" tab instead of "Global" where this setting lives under Others > G-code ouput. Hopefully this helps someone else! I followed all of this in your guide, updated the firmware and some other suggestions but some models I just can't get proper adhesion even with warming everything up for 25minutes, using a gluestick, leveling beforehand, prayer, thoughts - everything so I'm hoping this works. I also kinda worry it's not looking at the right bed_mesh profile - I switched to advanced levelling mode which I think updates bed_mesh 11 it doesn't feel clear which mesh preset gets used when printing. I think the day I spent working on the eccentric nuts broke my brain a little. Edit: Some added context - this is my first FDM printer. Honestly for the price I don't mind it. This is a fun hobby. I've gone through almost 10kg of filament over just a few months so I've used it a LOT and despite some of the issues most everything has turned out OK. I learnt a hard lesson with a blob of death but had been warned to almost watch the first layer and didn't. The replacement print head was only $50 - I've spent far more than that when factoring in my time so it was fine - I'm really just lucky and happy that it didn't start a fire or something else.

  • @OuterRimArmorer
    @OuterRimArmorer10 күн бұрын

    for the adhesion issues I would suggest cleaning the flex plate really well with soap and water. Then while the first layer is printing adjust the z height. While you’re watching it you’ll see the difference in the way the first layer goes down. Do this step repeatedly until you think it looks good. I would pick a model that has a big base so you have lots of time adjusting the first layer. I do this step now on all my printers after every bed leveling I do.

  • @gadimus
    @gadimus10 күн бұрын

    @@OuterRimArmorer thanks again! Watching the first layer and dialing in the z offset worked. I may try turning "reduce infill retraction" / combing back on to see what happens, it seems like it would really help reduce wear/tear. I have caught it clipping models in the past but I'm curious if it was related to poorly set z-offset as my retraction tests have all performed really well. I wish there was a better way than the "paper method" for z-offset. Also the magnetic auto leveling overall really is iffy - even with lower variance thresholds and more samples. Overall - this has been fun but it also makes me really appreciate resin printing.

  • @gadimus
    @gadimus9 күн бұрын

    I finally got around to washing the plate with soap/water (then wipe down with a micro fiber cloth). It seems to make a huuuuge difference. It's like there were some dead zones from fingerprints or PLA crust or something that no amount of ISA/wipe downs was getting rid of. I also noticed dead center the print nozzle must have been pressed into the bed enough to flatten out the contours... It sure would be nice to actual touch sensors (but then again that'd be another thing that could break)

    Probably just needs to be adjusted. It takes me a couple times of manually leveling by adjusting the knobs under the bed before I get it dialed. I do it every time I’ve taken the bed off. But keep in mind I’m not a perfectionist when it comes to the bed being perfectly level. That’s what klipper is for. It’s supposed to register and compensate for unleveled beds. Also don’t forget to heat soak your bed before leveling it. Basically heat it up to 60 a few minutes before you start leveling it.

    Your POM wheels may just need some adjusting. If you find that no matter which way you turn the eccentric nuts/spacers the wobble doesn’t go away, then you may have worn down POM wheels. Mine were grooved pretty bad when I replaced mine. Also it doesn’t matter which what you turn the eccentric nut. It’s really just a lopsided spacer that’s thicker on one side. It will either tighten or loosen. If it never tightens then it could be time for new wheels or linear rails.

    So far my favorite printer, my go-to first every time are my Qidi X-Max 3’s. Second would be my Qidi Q1 Pro’s. Don’t get me wrong, they have their failed prints too but the quality and speed is amazing. I believe the print volume of the xmax3 is 325x325 which is big enough for a lot of stuff. I think my modded Elegoo’s are my first choice between my Big Bed slingers but if I can fit the item on a Xmax3 or Q1 Pro then I’ll do that first.

    @@OuterRimArmorer Thank you a lot for your reply. I agree that Qidi X-Max3 is an excelent choice. I am also checking the combination of elegoo and Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro together. The cost of 2 is almost equal with the cost of Qidi X-Max3. Of course, I am thinking that I am loosing the advantage to print in some more industrial materials with the choice of 2 printers. I am under consideration for the appropriate choice. Congrats for your reviews

    7:35 literally the issue I've been having my first week, that was just solved tonight by using anycubics slicer. Their own test prints came out as nothing but strings, and their Cura profile caused a perfect purge line, but as soon as the actual print began... I printed 2 walls as a circle, it made a crescent shape that was 1 mm x 3mm ... so 3mm^3 per mm instead of 0.08 . The extruder would then stutter making progressively higher pitched whining while pumping out spotty globs, then seize and every 3rd time give me the "NTC abnormal" error... 5 days of back and forth tearing the machine apart with their tech support and I just tried their own slicer to check... prints perfectly... they shouldn't even claim to support Cura. Now I have to explain this to their tech person
